Can someone help me. I am not able to log into the resource library to get to my visualizations. I posted a comment last week and no answer. I really need those I listen to them daily. Please let me know how to fix this problem. Thank you… Have you changed the format of the NYNY 2015?
Hi Angie,
So sorry about that – our technician has fixed the problem – it should be all okay now – please let us know if you are still having problems.
Thanks
Den
I would like to know the name of the new turmeric product Jon recommended for better absorption.. He mentioned it was broke down in a way that our cells could assimilate it better.. Can you help me with that? Thank you, Angie
Hi Angie,
Jon has recommended Theracurmin as a highly bioavailable form of curcumin – the yellow pigment in Turmeric. There is no particular brand of Theracurmin that Jon would recommend – just check out the supplement in your local health food store or online. I hope this helps/
Kind regards

Can I get the pizza crust recipe, that Jon recently created that used psyllium husks? Thanks
Hi Christine,
Here it is:
The World’s Healthiest Pizza Recipe
Makes 4 pizzas
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Size: 10 inches or 25 cm
Ingredients
Use a tin that is non stick, has small holes in it and the base comes out (see video), pizza tin or pizza stone.
1 Cauliflower
1 brown onion
12 egg yolks (more complete protein, healthy fat, easier to digest)
teaspoon of Himalayan salt
1 cup of organic Psylium Husks
2 tablespoons of gee
2 tablespoons of organic pasta sauce
handful lettuce, rocket or spinach
tomatoes
mushrooms
onions
capsicum
avocado
Raw goats cheese and raw mozerella
Brewers yeast (optional)
Method
Preheat oven to a high heat, 280 degrees C/ 410 degrees F
In a food processer, blend the cauliflower and onion until it is a fine powder.
Transfer the mixture into a bowl and combine egg yolks, salt and psylium husks with cauliflower and onion.
Add two tablespoons of clarified butter or gee, which helps combine the ingredients and mix well.
Spread evenly out onto the pan and cook for 10 minutes or until golden brown and then take it out and flip it over, cooking again for another 5 minutes
Take it out of the oven, spread organic pasta sauce on the base before adding your healthy vegetable toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, capsicum, avocado, raw goats cheese and mozerella and brewers yeast.
You can add other veggies into the crust for kids ie: mushrooms or broccoli
Kind regards
Den
Where is the video please?
I need to set up my talk with Jon. I have continually gained weight since I started this program and I have been on it since January. This is the second time I have attempted this program and both times it hasn’t gone well. This time I joined the NYNY to make sure I did it right, but I am just failing.
How do I set up my call? Thanks for your help.
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
So sorry to hear that you are struggling.
Please email us at help@thegabrielmethod.com – and we will arrange the call.
Thanks
Den
I was over charged for this program as my account was drafted three times instead of Two times as agreed upon. I need assistance getting a resolution to this problem.
Mine just was too. I need the same assistance. Is there a phone number to call or an email address to contact?
I looked around and found some contact info:
help@thegabrielmethod.com
(310) 982.6594 (USA)
+44 20 8144 6914 (UK)
And this address was in the email alert sent from GM that told me of the third payment:
payments@thegabrielmethod.com
Sounds like a PayPal issue. When i checked my account a month ago it was set up for an extra payment so I deleted it. You might try there.
Hi Sue and Nicole,
So sorry about this – it seems that it may be a Paypal glitch. We are looking into it urgently. You will be refunded additional charge.
Den – GM Team
Thanks, Den!!!
Hi. I am lucy kalach
I finish my five weeks and I realy learn a lot. Thank you so much.
I just want you to check because I pay thru PayPal and I belive that they pay another extra payment of 248. They supposed to be two of them. But it seems that they were 3 payments of 248.
Could you check that please and let me know
Hi Lucy,
Congratulations of completing the 5 weeks!
I have checked our system and so far there has been one payment made on the 10th of February. There was another payment due on the 12th of March but this has not gone through.
Kind regards

I remember seeing a question posted regarding legumes (beans) and how they fit into this nutrition program, bu i missed a response and don’t see one here. Would you please send it out again? Also, it would be very helpful if the gabriel team could produce an FAQ that could be posted… I am going back and forth between this site and the Facebook site trying to review the questions asked and remember what was said. thank you
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the great suggestion – I will forward this.
Legumes are quite starchy and as a result Jon recommends avoiding this when you are trying to balance blood sugar levels.
I hope this helps.
Den – GM Team
I have been craving protein a lot. Is that something I need to work on fixing. If so how do I correct it? Right now, I have just been adding in more protein. Some days it seems like a lot or maybe too much?
Hi Mary,
As long as you are sourcing your protein from healthy sources it is perfectly okay to add more. Protein is an excellent source of energy. Let us know how you are going.
Den – GM Team
Hi,
I was wondering what Jon has to say about intestinal parasites and is there any treatments he recommends to be deal with the possibility of these?
Cheers
Emma
Hi i am lucy kalach. I hace a question.
If i dont hace gallblader And the enzimas i am taking contain these:
– beet ( beta Bulgaria root) 100mg
– betaine hydrochoride 100mg
– oxbile extract 100 mg
To contain 45% cholic acid
– black radish 50 mg
– stone root 50 mg
– pepsin 1:300 30 mg
– slippery elm 20 mg
I am taking 1 before each meal. Is that ok as an enzime? Or i should take another enzime?
Hi – Two questions please:
I am doing visualizations twice a day, drinking fresh green juice when I am home and green powder drinks when I travel (which is quite often) and not always able to get the big 3 in my meals. I haven’t lost any weight but do like the calming affects from the videos. Any more suggestions for long trips where I don’t have access to kitchens, etc.?
2nd question – I know our 1:1 calls with Jon won’t be till May but when and how can we start scheduling those? Thanks
Hi Alesia,
It sounds like you are doing great!
In answer to your first question – green powder drinks are a great suggestion for when you are travelling. Also when eating out, try selecting salad and protein options – this way you are still getting 2 of the big 3. Another suggestion would be to travel with chia seeds and add these to your water throughout the day – this way you can get your Omega 3’s as well. Are you able to get juices or smoothies from Juice bars on your travels? You can also pre-pack snacks – such as protein balls and nuts and seed mixes.
Question number 2 – in order to book your 1 on 1 session with Jon – just email help@thegabrielmethod.com – and notify our team. Thanks Anne- GM Team
Good Morning, I found out recently that my adrenals are shot. I had been doing a boot camp class three times a week for over 4 weeks and during that time I kept climbing the scale and was up to 7 pounds up since I had started the class. I do know and appreciate the muscle piece of it all but was just exhausted each and every time I went to class and my personal trainer and I could not figure out what the deal was until the adrenals piece was found. I am told to discontinue class and only exercise for 20 minutes tops and not high impact. This is a new piece for me I have been active my whole life and that piece blows my mind. What I have been learning through this program seems to hit home with the gaining weight and working out piece. I listen to the evening meditations before bed and sleep great and could sleep all day if possible. I’m pretty sure cortisol is a fat trigger for me which also hits home with this class. I guess I’m writing this because I feel like no matter what I do I gain weight. I work out I gain, I do nothing but walking and I gain as well. I am extremely sensitive to food and what I seem to respond too. I have not always been this way but am 36 years old and feel like I’m stuck. This program, video’s, tapping, recipes and other information is helping but as always it doesn’t seem fast enough and I’m still in panic mode of accepting that I have to take extra special steps with food and taking care of myself. I just feel sort of lost. I’m pretty sure that I will need to go back through the program and keep practicing; I’m hoping and praying that we will always have access. I would really like to not feel exhausted all of the time and if I don’t stop working out I will feel much older than I am and I feel like i’m already there. That statement right there makes no sense to me, working out is healthy for you why is it the opposite for me? I also write down what I eat daily, make use of the recipies and incorporate lots of what is taught here. Anyway i’m on a supplement program including probiotics and am on week 2 with the nutrition program so i’m praying that will help so I can get back on track soon.
NicoleH – you have many, many decades of your life left, so it’s great that you’re beginning now to re-design your health. It’s like turning an ocean liner – a slowing down, a wide turn, and then full steam ahead back to health. I’m 57, so kinda jealous of your youth 🙂
Hi Nicole,
You own this program so you will have ongoing access to all of this information. It is a long slow road to recovery from Adrenal fatigue, and a lot of this will involve relaxation and generally slowing down. Jon recommends doing all you can to heal your digestion, with probiotics and lots of fermented foods plus eating lots of live foods, sprouts and having green juices. He also suggests doing a liver flush. Meditations, massage, yoga, relaxation and plenty of self love (or as my mum used to call it TLC – Tender Loving Care) are also what Jon prescribes. The Ayurvedic herbs
Ashwangandha and Rhodiola – are adrenal adaptogens – so these would be excellent to take as well. Please keep us posted on your journey.
Den – GM Team
I am taking the probiotics And the fermentes veggies but how much is to much or how many is enough. Because some times my stomach hurt And get very blouted. I dont know if i have to start different.
Hi Lucy,
It may take time for your stomach to get used to these, maybe just try for small amounts of fermented vegies at first and see how you go.
Please keep us posted.
Kind regards

Enjoy the session,
-Anne, GM Team
Hello,
I’m so sad the class is over! The small changes are definitely making a difference in me. I checked, out of curiosity, and have lost 4 pounds over the past few weeks, which is a great start. Excitingly, I have been able to talk myself down from the routine junk food binges I would have after a long and tiring day. I’m at least catching the thought now, and dealing with it before it becomes a behaviour. The past few days I find that I stay in the morning meditation a bit longer because it seems natural, and I can’t stop smiling and the joy is coming back to my heart. I am *so* glad that I signed up for this programme.
A few queries:
(1) For a morning workout (6 a.m. weekdays, 9’ish weekend) I have always struggled with what to eat to give my body the fuel it needs. I’ve always done either a granny smith apple or protein shake (with ch ia seeds). I box or do muay thai and there are a lot of body weight type exercises incorporated into that training. They do HIIT, albeit not exactly the way Jon describes. But i sometimes reach a point where I am nauseous, which I’ve attributed to not Fueling my body well enough beforehand. It normally happens when I haven’t been diligent in training regularly. Any suggestions?
(2) Is the lemon/ACV water supposed to be only in the morning Or all day long? My mouth seems to get irritated sometimes if i have it more than 3x/day, in conjunction with the green juice (which, I get various greens mixed with some lemon, ginger, and a touch of green apple). Also does the green juice count toward the high water consumption we are trying to achieve?
(3) Could you please provide a link to the Support Group? I would like to sign up.
Thank you!!
Laura x

Hello Jon,
What is your experience working with women planning on getting pregnant. I’ve been overweight since adolescence and struggled with weight issues my entire adult life. During my 1st pregnancy, I gained 78 lbs. It’s been 22 months, and still have 10 lbs remaining from pre-prenancy weight. I’d like to lose 30 lbs overall. I haven’t lost any weight since starting the program. I’ve been struggling with consistency (ie. visualizations) since I have a toddler who has poor sleeping habits and I work full time with a 3 hour/day commute. I’m now 37 yo and don’t want my current weight to keep me from trying for baby #2. But I also don’t want to gain a ton of weight again. I’m worried about the hormones and appetite etc. Any advice?
So many questions! lol… Here’s a few:
Is getting probiotics in capsule form versus yogurt form any different? Is one better than the other?
What do you think of aloe vera juice? Is there a reason to add this in or is it just an alternative to milk?
I haven’t heard Jon talk about dopamine. Is this something we should be looking at? Are there foods that help/hurt your dopamine levels?
I am anemic but can’t take iron supplements due to constipation and digestive problems with them. Are there other things I can do to get my iron up naturally?
I wondered if you know or have a link to an emotional realease coach in New Zealand? Or others to help with the deep routed memories and the aftermath of them iv done the talk therapy ones but never seemed to really address them.
I also had a second question Jon talks a lot about green juices, I’m not too sure when I have a juice I feel not that great, sort of sluggish and seem to go straight through me so instead I have been having green smoothies which my body seems to enjoy and is starting to request over other drink, is their something more to it that just preference or is it wanting the fiber?
I also wondered about the clatonics (sp?) whats the best ones? And I have heard something about pre or pro biotic ones … I know their are many types out there, I just feel like I need a cleanse in some way feel alil gunged up at times?
Thanks for all the help!
Margot Saito: I may have missed this, but why are you not supposed to drink water during meals? Thanks!
Hi Margot,
Drinking water during a meal will dilute the strong digestive juices that our bodies secrete to break the food down. Digestion, then takes much longer and isn’t as efficient. Also, when drinking water on an empty stomach your body can more readily absorb the water to hydrate your cells.
Hi, Jon, my name is Joyce. I love the Gabriel Method but am frustrated because where I live in rural Alaska our Inernet service is poor and unreliable. I could not access your live presentations 4 out of the 5 weeks so I must listen the next day. As of today I haven’t received your talk from yesterday. I signed up for the support group but feel I need to cancel because of my poor Internet service. My plan is to rely on your books, The Gabriel Method and Cookbook, both of which I have purchased. I’ve tried to listen to the meditations and visualizations but at night especially I have trouble connecting to the Internet. I do receive email which is the best way to contact me. Your Gabriel Method Program is what I need but regret that I’m not able to receive the full benefits. I welcome any suggestions. Thank you.
Hi Joyce
I hav all the visualasations and meditation downloaded in dropbox ,you can mark them as favorite and than you do not need internet to get acces and the good part is that all the visualisations are in there seperate so it stops when ended ,and you do not hear the rest .
My Facebook request has still not been actioned!
Please can someone attend to this?
Is taking flax seed oil capsules useful as a way to get Omega 3s? Or does it have to be fresh flax? And is flax seed oil okay instead of fish oil? I find it a lot easier to digest than fish oil.
Capsules are fine, however do check to make sure there are no harmful additives. Flax seed oil is a great way to get Omega-3’s. Best, Anne, GM Team
I was listening to some of the Best of Jon recordings last night, and I heard Jon say that he made sure he got omega 3s with every meal. I’m still struggling with this. Is it enough to sprinkle a teaspoon of ground flax on a meal? Should we add in supplements? What about when we’re eating out? I’m just not clear on how much and how often.
Hi, when do you think we can listen to the recorded core class presentation? It seems the presentation is not uploaded.
Hi Madalina, it should be posted within the next couple of hours. Sorry for the delay! -Anne, GM Team
When I juice I get cold, often shivering. Do you have any suggestions to counteract it? I have experienced this the other times I’ve juiced as well. I feel great when juicing except for being cold.
thanks
Teresa
Hi Teresa,
Try adding some ‘warming’ ingredients to your juices… things like turmeric, ginger or hot chili peppers.
When adding hot peppers, add just a very little at first so it doesn’t get too spicy for you.
If the weather is cold where you are, be sure to keep yourself warm.
Last night the main nightly BBC 2 current affairs programme featured an eminent gastroenterologist from a London hospital discussing how gut bacteria are connected to a range of diseases and to obesity.
It’s nice to see Jon’s advice being echoed on mainstream British TV!
Hi Susan,
Yes, so nice when we see great healthy information being shared in the mainstream!!
Hi- my Facebook friend request has been pending for a couple of days. Can someone action it? Thanks
I have Kale virtually every day in my smoothies and green juices. I am enjoying them. My co-worker said she was listening to Dr. Oz and he said that you shouldn’t have Kale every day. What is your opinion. I don’t listen or follow him but I was interested to know if you have any research on it.
Hi Lynne,
I feel it is very important to rotate your greens and to not eat the same foods over and over again. This will ensure that you get the wide range of nutrients needed and that you don’t build up any intolerances.
Eating kale for a few days in a row is fine and then switch it up and eat something else for a few days and keep rotating like that.
As I live in the UK, I’m not able to call in to the live Q&A session and I would really my question to be asked as it’s very important to me.
I’ve been on the GM programme for about 6 weeks now. I have changed my diet and lifestyle radically. I don’t eat grains anymore, I eat very little dairy, I have green juices, I incorporate the big 3 with each meal, I visualise every night and some mornings. I take my lunch with me to work every day so that I eat the right things. Before this I used to starve myself, calorie count all the time and get home in the evening ravenous and eat everything I could find and any candy or sweets that were around. I was addicted to sugar and would think nothing of eating bags of sweets one after the other. I have 35lbs to lose (i’m 5ft 2ins). The fat is around my middle. I’m a holistic therapist so I understand the body – I knew something was wrong metabolically but I didn’t know what. Now I know thanks to the GM method and NYNY programme. I have had over ten years of chronic stress to deal with so I realise that is an issue. My question is: given that I’ve radically change my diet and lifestyle and the grains aspect, I would have thought the weight would be dropping off me, but it isn’t – I haven’t lost any weight as yet (I don’t weigh myself often but I can tell from my clothes). I know people who eat gluten free and dairy free and their weight drops. This makes me disheartened although I try hard not to be. I refuse to buy bigger clothes. I want my body back and I’m scared that I’m going to be like this for the rest of my life and I don’t want that. I’m 53 but people are surprised when I tell them my age.
Take heart. Many of us feel the same. I too have not seen any loss for 5 weeks. I had great hopes that my weight would just melt off as well but it has not. However, it seems that it we focus the small breakthroughs, and stay positive, something will eventually budge. I have been practicing EFT everyday, and had a significant breakthrough on my feelings of deprivation, if I were to lose the weight. I never thought it was an issue, until low and behold it came out when tapping on something else. I have gone 2 days without that fear of deprivation. Ok it is only a small success, but maybe it was the log jam. Suggest you try EFT and possibly EMDR, to see if it helps.
Hi Christine – I’ve tried EFT and have trained in it. Just recently I’m working with a wonderful THETA practitioner (emotional clearance work). Thank you for your kinds words 🙂
Hi Maria,
You have made some great changes – that is great!
You mentioned that you recognize that chronic stress is present for you. This sounds like a place to focus.
For some people, stress is the biggest factor and even after food changes have been made the stress needs to be processed before the weight will shift.
You are obviously very knowledgeable and are doing some great things. Be gentle with yourself as you work through your stresses and continue to seek help from a cellular release coach to get some extra support.
Today’s class focuses on the mind/body connection and you may find some very valuable insights in the call.
What does Jon think about about Matcha Tea?
Hi Michelle,
Matcha tea does have caffeine in it so watch how your body reacts to that.
If you are experiencing highs and lows, fatigue and cravings on the days when you drink it, you may want to hold off on it.
Hi Jon, In your last Q and A, the last caller, you said that the visualizations are helping us to get our bodies to not pump out stress hormones. I have been feeling somewhat hopeless that I can change my life because I don’t see myself being able to get out of my stressful situation. Trapped. (Meaning I can’t quit my job, don’t see an end to loneliness etc) So a light bulb of hope went off for me when you said that. Do you think that with visualizing I can still be in my current life but not be affected by stress anymore? That my mental health will improve and allow my body to improve. I guess just thinking the thought gives me hope that it’s possible.
Hi Cindy,
Visualizations are amazing! They truly help us to re-program our minds.
Today’s class (week 5) is all about the mind/body connection and I feel you will really enjoy the information that Jon will share in today’s call.
Hi Jon- I have been inconsistent with the program and tend to binge-watch the video, rather than following along with the 5 week pacing. I am finally beginning to get it, but am concerned about how much longer I will have access to the program. Is the information taken down after the five weeks or will my sign in still work for a while? Thanks for everything! This is the best program ever! I feel like it was customized for me!
Hi Robin,
You will have permanent access to the program. Glad to hear you are enjoying it!
-Anne, GM Team
I am finding that I am getting very far behind in listening to the talks. I am concerned that if I get very far behind I won’t be able to have my questions answered when the course finishes. Is there a way of having the questions answered after the course is done?
Hi Erica,
Feel free to view the program at your own pace.
Your questions should still be answered here, and another good place is the NYNY Facebook Forum. Finally, you can also always email help@thegabrielmethod.com with any questions.
-Anne, GM Team
I am finding that the morning visualizations put me to sleep – it happens with all of them so far. I do okay for the first few minutes, but as I breathe deeply and get relaxed, I end up dozing off. The problem is that then, instead of feeling energized and invigorated at the end, I’m actually tired and lethargic and want to crawl back into bed. Any suggestions?
Hi, So many of the recipes call for flax seeds. are you recommending flax seeds over chia seeds? does it matter and why?
Thank you,
Gretchen
Hi Gretchen,
Try to get a variety in your diet. Eat flax seeds sometimes and chia at other times.
HEY GM Team – I have been searching for Jon’s chia seed pudding recipe and can’t find it – can you direct me to it?
Thank you, Cindy
Hi: Here is a recipe I scribbled down during one of the talks for Chia pudding: 1/4 chia seeds; 1/2 cup almond milk OR coconut water. Leave to soak, stirring occasionally. When mixture is a pudding consistency then add some fruit and nuts.
Cindy: Whoops – the chia seeds should read 1/4 cup. Sorry
Hi Cindy,
Edith’s recipe that she scribbled down sounds great (thanks Edith!).
Here is another idea for chia pudding –> http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/chia-seed.html
I would suggest playing, if you add more chia seeds you will get a thicker pudding, less chia seeds will result in a thinner pudding… both are great. Play to find the consistency that you are happy with.
Can you please let me know if consuming Chlorella (powder) is a good as consuming Spirulina (powder).
Also can I please ask you what will happen with all the questions that have not been answered. Any plan to answer them by the end of the New You? Thanks.
Hi Madalina,
Both chlorella and spirulina are great foods.
Jon and the team is trying to address all of the questions either here, in the core classes or in the live Q&A’s
Hi all, the archive of this week’s Q&A session with Jon is here: https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/live-q-and-a-4/
Enjoy!
-Anne, GM Team
A question for Jon…
If u could not eat greens…that’s right-no salads, no green veggies, etc. at all, what would u eat then for health?
Hi Catherine,
My general idea on food is to eat natural food in as close as possible to its whole natural form (ie the less processing the better).
Jon often uses the analogy of eating what you would find on an island 10,000 years ago.
If, for some reason, you cannot eat greens then fill your plate with all of the many other choices of real natural food out there and continue to shift away from processed packaged foods, chemicals, etc.
If in time you can find a way to ingest greens, or a good green powder, spirulina, chlorella, seaweeds and things like this then great… if not, then keep going by ingesting all of the many other great real foods out there.
A number of years ago I was seeing an endocrinologist and she said that one of the problems with eliminating wheat and carbs completely is that your serotonin levels drop and it can cause depression (which is what was happening to me). Then the drop in serotonin would cause intense carb cravings as my body tried to boost the serotonin levels back up. It caused binge eating, which is something I had never suffered from before I tried going no-carb. Essentially, I had to accept that I could be either happy or lose weight, but not both. Can Jon address how his eating suggestions help offset this drop in serotonin?
Hi Tricia,
The Gabriel Method is about addressing different areas of your life at the same time as slowly adding in more and more really great and nourishing foods.
Visualizations and emotional release techniques are helpful to help brain chemistry.
Slowly adding in good foods and not being dramatic about cutting out any favourite foods immediately (unless ready to) helps to not have a drastic drop or change within your body’s chemistry. Nature is perfect in it’s design, but it doesn’t always work quickly… for example you plant a seed in the ground and nothing happens quick but over a long time it grows into a perfect oak tree. It is the same with our body, making quick sudden changes (like going from eating many carbs to eliminating them all overnight) doesn’t work well for most people. Instead just concentrate on adding in the good stuff. In time and at the pace that your body is ready to, you will slowly and naturally lose the taste for less nourishing foods.
By doing it in this manner there isn’t that tendency to yo-yo continually back and forth between highs and lows.
I certainly believe and know that humans can lose weight and be happy. Improvement is a life-long journey, keep adding in nourishing things and be proud of those choices.
Great question, by the way!
Do the fermented foods, probiotics, et al change your body’s secretions (i.e., sweat, intimacy, etc)?
Hi Laura,
Mostly your hormones will affect this but your diet certainly plays a part too.
Hi, what do You recomend For liver detox. I am taking milk theastle but the enzimes still high.
And also what You recomend for high homosysteine ?
Hi Lucy,
Eating real natural food and avoiding processed non-foods is one of the best things you can do for your liver… so that falls right in line with all of the action steps outlined in this course.
Milk thistle is great and dark greens like dandelion greens are good too. In general, bitter foods (like dandelion) are great for cleansing the liver.
Elevated homocysteine levels will hopefully balance out as you balance other things in your life and continue to eat more and more foods containing B vitamins and sulfur (things like organic meats, fish and eggs as well as organic fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds). You can talk to a Holistic practitioner in your area to see if supplementing with B12 may be good for you.
HEY JON, in all of your work with women of all ages, do you have any specific advice for losing weight past menopause? I am 64 and am past menopause 25 years. I have never taken any hormone replacement. I have heard that weight is harder to lose the older a woman gets – do you have any advice you have learned through helping other older GM women followers? I have at least 50 pounds to lose. Thank you Jon
I would be interested in hearing the answer to this one too.
Jon adressed that in the Q&A yesterday ,so will be up soon I think
Hi there, my friend request still has not been accepted for the fb group …if someone could help me out I’d appreciate it
Hi Rosie,
Your friend request has been accepted.
Den 🙂
Hi
Last night on-line someone gave a link to coconut oil brush…I somehow lost it. Can anyone send again?
Thank you
You probably mean oil pulling ? That is this one http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/oil-pulling.html
Thanks Mylou! 🙂
Have to share a story and a learning… I love in Cape Town in the beautiful suburb of Noordhoek. Our city and mountain has been severely ravage by a fire not seen in many lifetimes and it has been heart breaking. Heartbreaking in its destruction but also in its amazing ability to unite a country in support and love for human and animal alike.
The really interesting thing is that my heart is broken I am permanently close to tears – i feel the heartache of the many – the interesting thing is the first thing I reached for was CHOCOLATE and BISCUITS – i have done nothing but eat for two days…! WOW Its amazing as I know I am emotional eater – when I am bored but I never realised how much of an emotional eater of chocolate I am. I realised when I was young and sick my mother would always but me chocolate to make me feel better. The lesson that hold us… I wasnt able to break this habit this week – i didn’t really have the emotional energy to deal with it – but it has served as an amazing teaching for me – the question is now…. what to do about it.
Hi Leeanne,
Our hearts and thoughts go out to you and the people of your beautiful town. Hopefully a wonderful sense of solidarity and community spirit will be born from this horrible tragedy.
In regards to your revelation that you are an emotional eater – the very fact that you now recognise it for what it is – has already begun the healing process. Now is not a good time to try to fix it – as you have enough to deal with – but the next time it happens – you will recognise it for what it is and understand that there may be other ways to comfort yourself. In the meantime perhaps try treating yourself (and others in your community?) with some of Jon’s raw chocolate – here is the link to the recipe – https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/chocolate/
Please take care
Den
I want some help prioritizing all of these amazing to do items… What I have accomplished so far:
Green juicing daily at breakfast – and eating one of the protein/breakfast balls
Added probiotics & Omega 3 (both in food and supplements)
Visualizing 2x a day
Salad for lunch every day
Not bad – but am having trouble deciding on the next thing to make a daily practice.. Oh yeah – I signed up for a class on meditation – its in two weeks…
Hi Michelle,
It sounds like you are doing great!
You could try the 10 minutes of Get Thin or Get Eaten exercise this week? However, the fact that you have signed up for a class on meditation is already a great thing to add to your routine – don’t worry that it is in 2 weeks.
Den 🙂
Hi all, the Core Class on Fitness is now archived, here:

I also had a quick question regarding visualisation, I find when they say draw attention to the present self that I can only feel the awareness with my eyes open, also in the visulisations like the energy up my spine also have to open my eyes, is their a technique I can do that will bring awareness with my eyes closed? When they are closed i either go blank or feel like I’m looking in at myself from the outside like a detachment. Any ideas on this?
Hi Tegan,
If you find that you are able to visualise better with your eyes open – that is fine – continue to do that.
Visualisation is most successful when you are doing it in a way that works and feels comfortable to you. I hope this helps.

Hi Jon & team,
This maybe long but I would like to get to the bottom of me, I wonder if their maybe anything additional I should take into consideration given passed health experiences.
A bit of background I am only young (24) currently sitting at around 90kg which is considerable for me as I am only 5ft 2inc and meant to be around 55-60kg …
At 17 I came down with a strong dose of Glandular Fever, I was in bed for about three months and took a further 6+ months to get some normality back I had a white liver enzyme count of over 1,000 (instead of the normal 45 I believe)
A long side this I got asthma & infections which I was put on a daily low dose antibiotic for the next two years, not including the many other short term ones and it wasn’t until many months had passed that they mentioned in passing I should be taking a probioitic along side this.
To make a long story short I have since had a relapse with Glandular Fever although only lasted a month in bed this time but recovery still took a few months, it was accompanied with strep throat, asthma (As a kid I would get this every 6mths, but since teens only when I get a cold or flu) & a chest infection all at the same time along with many other one off health issues (flus etc) resulting in doctors prescribing short courses of antibiotics (a couple I was allergic too) or steroids.
I feel I have a lot of limiting beliefs & self sabotage habits to work through from past experiences but this course has defiantly started to help addressing them, but I feel I may need more guidance.
I was prescribed medication for pimples (or mild acne) at 22 but have been struggling with them since I was young (7yrs +)
I had a stage where my hair was falling out which dermatologists took blood tests, hormone test etc but the tests didn’t show up anything abnormal as far as they could see. It still has its moments of loss.
Since beginning my current job which I have been in for two years I have put on 30kg, it is a sit down job but I did pick up a habit of stress eating & with its high stress environment, their is a lot of illness in the office & colds/flus are spread like candy.
Some of the weight I also realize now I put on as a form of safety like you say.
Its great to get the information about the fitness recommended, I believe its in range of what I can achieve as I have recently also pinched the cyatic nerve meaning I get intermittent sharp pain from my lower back all the way to my ankles even when sitting.
I do get osteo & Bowen help which has reduced along side my trainer helps pick exercises that wont set it off. However its still consistent so unsure what the next step from here would be?
Since 17 also I found bread, pasta, oats & rice or anything sugary makes me crash in energy, I would need to sleep at mid day & never had much energy in general.
From my sternum to belly button becomes hard, bloated & sore, I eat very little of these now & almost no gluten (however I get the same thing with gluten free bread) I use to get aching joints and a little unbalanced after eating these foods also. I am wondering if it could be something more than a gluten/high carb insensitivity?
I feel at times that I have got into such a state, with a lot of symptoms that getting to a great health state seems almost out of reach.
I would love to feel like a young 20year old should, full of life & energy but I’m not there.
I have had a natural shift away from wanting medications, and at present am not taking anything, I feel more drained each time I get them & feel like I get myself stuck in a medicine loop.
I also took myself off the pill a year ago as they believe I may have hormone issues even though nothing appeared in the tests.
I would love some help, I have seen many doctors & specialists but all seem to link back to medications over prevention or just to band aid the symptoms. Its getting a bit frustrating.
I am concerned I may have done a lot of damage to my body not only with the antibiotics, the pill etc but also the stress levels I still have in my daily life & due to the line of work I am in.
My questions including the ones above are;
Is their anything I should do beyond nourishing eating, probiotics & digestive enzymes that could help give my system extra support or rebuild what I have damaged?
Would my liver need something extra given its been under a lot of stress within only a few years?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
PS I wish this course was longer than 5 weeks I have been really enjoying all the information. I would love to get into this line of work, getting myself healthy is my first step.
Kind regards,
Tegan
Hi Tegan,
It is so wonderful that you are here and part of this 5 week course. I truly believe things come to us when we need them most. I hear you saying that you wish this course was longer as you are feeling that you are getting benefit from all we are talking about. Perhaps you could consider joining the UCE (Ultimate Coaching Experience), this is where you could have one on one sessions with different coaches and talk to Jon too.
At some point you may want to consider doing a cleanse but first I would suggest following the action steps outlined in this course for several months. The Gabriel Method has conducted a 2 week online cleanse for the past two years – this may be something that would be good for you to join in the future.
I would suggest that, along with the action steps outlined here, that you include lots of cultured/fermented foods in your diet.
I would also strongly urge to make use of the visualizations – they are key in helping on a deep subconscious level.
I strongly believe in the body’s capacity to heal and re-balance. I hear you saying that you are having a hard time right now having faith in this, and I also hear that you are doing some really great things. Keep doing these things and keep seeking support.
You may also benefit from doing some sessions with an emotional release coach.
I hope this has helped some. Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath.
Hi Jon. I joined the NYNY group. I have only been able to access the first class as I have been away at a location with no wi-fi access. Yes, those places still exist! I have tried to join the session today via Skype now I’m home but couldn’t get in as the Melbourne number listed was “invalid” as far as Skype was concerned.
I knew I’d be away, but the NYNY program seemed to good to miss. Can I access the previous sessions and how would you suggest I go about the program now I have missed most sessions?
My next option is bariatriac surgery, but I don’t want to do that. I only need to loose about 25 – 30kg. Your help/thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi Rob,
So sorry that you were not able to access yesterday’s show. Next time you are trying to call in – please type in the chat roll on the page if you are having problems and we can help walk you through calling in. We are having an Ask Jon call-in opportunity at 11am Melbourne time Friday 6th March – here is the link: https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/live-q-and-a-4/
Please try to call in if you can – that way you will be able to speak to Jon directly if you want.
In answer to your questions though – all of the classes are archived so you can listen to them all whenever suits and as often as you want – just click on the class and it will take you to the page and the recording will start. You own this program now so can access it any time you want.
The best suggestion would be to start from week one and follow all the action steps and listen to the classes as though you are just starting. In the meantime you can still take advantage of the live shows and ask questions for week 4 and 5. I hope this helps.

I am curious about Eric Mickelson’s (Spartacus) amazing success story. He said in the video that about a month and a half into the GM lifestyle all of his neck, back and ankle pain went completely away. Jon, do you know if he did anything special to make that happen? Or do you have a theory about how/why his pain went away? I am curious because I have a debilitating ankle condition called posterior tibial tendonitis. My job requires that I stand on my feet and for the last year and 1/2 I have had to find ways to cut back, rest or do parts of my job sitting. It has contributed to my weight gain and keeps me from being active. Also it makes me feel old and fragile – and I really want to move beyond that feeling. I want to live a lively healthy old age (I’m 64 now) – not held back by my ankle issue. Do you know anything about Eric’s success? Or is there a way I can contact him in one of the forums? I do have to admit that my pain already feels a bit less. For a long time every step I took was painful with the end of the day being agonizing – I looked forward to my couch, TV and a couple of drinks and a bag of munchies. After about 5 weeks making GM changes I have a much healthier evening routine – still on the couch – But way more healthy. Anyway I feel the pain is a little less, but if there is something Eric did I would like to add that to my life. Thank you Jon
Hi Cindy,
We don’t have further info from Eric than what you see in the video. Several of our success stories have overcome significant medical issues (like Corky, who reversed his diabetes and no longer takes any of his medications, Scott, who had serious back pain), and it seems like one common theme was using mind-body techniques, such as visualizations. Visualization is a powerful tool to help change your body’s perspective on pain- you may find one or more tracks in the resource library here that are helpful to you-
All best, Anne, GM Team
Jon, Have you heard of Emotion Code. It’s a way of releasing emotions from your body. If so, can you talk about the difference between this and the tapping. If I’m understanding things correctly Emotion Code releases the emotion and tapping rewires your thinking. I’m wondering if one of them can do both.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the GM team for sharing this amazing program/philosophy and all the positive support. I have been working this program as close as I can to how it’s been layed out. I am thrilled with the results I’m feeling. I decided I was not going to focus on what the scale was telling me (I haven’t even weighed myself). So my first goal was to detox and just feel better (accomplished) second I am slowly adding excersice a little at a time or when I feel an extra burst of energy not beating myself up for the days my energy is low, I’m moving more then I was last month I’d say that’s fantastic. I am enjoying the new food types I’m adding to my diet lots of greens and omegas. I made my first batch of fermented veggies this weekend and have activated raw almonds. (My family loves them) I not only feel a wonderful shift in my physiology but I can say I am also gaining a bit of a spiritual enlightenment too. I’m sorry there are only two weeks left of this session. Im so excited for the future and the positive progress I will make. My pants are feeling looser and for me that is better then a number on the scale I identify that as working from the inside out!! Woohoo!!!….Thanks again!!! And I wish all of my fellow GM classmates all the best. My positive thoughts go out to you all
Angie – that is so wonderful!
Den 🙂
It is now week 4 and I have not lost a single pound. I am following the action steps for the most part. I am having green juice, doing visualizations, drinking water and lemon but nothing not a single pound. I don’t have any stress except that I am not losing any weight. I am losing faith in this method. Maybe it works for some but not for me.
I feel totally crippled today from despair over no progress. I can’t even stay focused on the visualizations which I normally have no problem doing. I feel I resolved the issues that were holding me back through EFT, before starting this program. Now my stress is that I am not losing any weight when I thought it would just “melt off” like all the visualizations imply. Am I trying too hard?
Hi Christine,
I don’t know if this will help but you are not alone. I understand how frustrating it can be when progress doesn’t come in the way or at the rate that our minds want.
From what you said, you are doing some really great things and I suggest that you continue. Weight loss is just one aspect – just one indicator that your health is improving. There are so so many other things happening too, things at a cellular level that may not be as easy to see as weight loss.
I truly believe in the body’s innate ability to heal and re-balance and I believe that the body does this in the sequence of steps that is right, safe and healthy …. and this will be different for each person.
Try to be gentle with yourself, on the road to success and health there are sometimes stages that feel plateaued or even worse as our body/minds/emotions reaches a layer that it works on clearing.
You are doing some really great things, please continue and I urge you to call in during the next Q&A so that you can talk to Jon personally.
Wonderfuly said Nadine ,were is the like buttom here 🙂
I was watching Spike Lee’s 4-part series on Hurricane Katrina and, out of the blue, a pediatrician that was being interviewed said that, following the hurricane, the children that went through it either gained weight or lost weight at an abnormally rapid rate.
He could have knocked me over with a feather – this is EXACTLY what Jon is teaching in this course, with regard to the mental aspect of it. In response to the hideous stress that they went through, their bodies either made them conserve every calorie, thus gaining weight, or made them drop weight in response to fear and, to date, we really don’t know why some children gained and some lost in response to essentially the same stress.
Nadia makes sense to me. This is about weight loss being addressed in lots of ways other than calories in/calories out. Leaky gut, cortisol, elevated blood sugar, imbalanced hormones – so many things that take time to heal – and this includes your mental state.
And that’s the same with us (me). But knowing this, I know that I need to “heal” stress internally and that’s not going to be accomplished overnight either. I came into this course knowing it was going to be for the long haul (i.e. for the rest of my life), not for a quick 4-week weight loss boot camp, biggest loser/winner takes all. 🙂
Beautiful sharing Nancy, thank you!
Can you tell me where to find the 10 minute mindfulness meditation by Paul North referred to in this week’s guest class?
thanks
Tried to paste and copy but does not work ,it is in an email from 28-2 telleing that the heal your hart is available in that is the link ,hope that helps
oh just saw it ,when you go to the guest class heal your heart ect and click on it ,it is right below it
Hi Susan,
As Mylou has said (thanks Mylou) it is here on this page –> https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/heal-your-heart-lose-the-weight/
There is a ‘download meditation’ button.
thanks to both- I hadn’t spotted it.
I am a bit confused about quinoa ,I thought Jon was not a fan of it ,but there are recepies of porridge in the video section of Julie Daniluk anti-inflamatory cooking ?
Hi Mylou,
Many people find quinoa still spikes the blood sugar. But that being said it is a much better option than wheat.
If it works in your body, fantastic. If you find yourself tired after eating it then you may want to reduce your intake of it.
Thanks Nadia
I have a few questions. I haven’t been able to join the live Q&A as am still at work and the plug-in doesn’t seem to work on my mobile. (1) Does vegan bread still contain gluten? (2) Adding the vinegar seems to give me heartburn. Lemon doesn’t, but I’ve been doing that for years. So far, fermented food is alright too. Does this mean anything, or should I just stick with lemon water? (3) I’ve tried to add myself to the Facebook group but am still “pending” after a couple of weeks. Could someone check that out for me? Thank you!
Hi Laura,
1. You will need to read the ingredients, some vegan breads will still have gluten but there are gluten free breads available too.
2. Stick with lemon. In time, you can try the apple cider vinegar again and see how you go with it.
3. I will send an email to Den to see if she can add you to the group
Hi Laura,
You were added to the group yesterday, apologies for the delay! Enjoy – Anne, GM team
Thank you, ladies!
I just finished listening to the Donna Gates class (yes, I’m behind) and I’m curious about what to do if you don’t like fermented foods? Besides pickles, I have yet to find a fermented food that I can stand. Can you suggest some alternatives? Or is it enough to have pickles?
Hi Tricia,
There are so many different kinds of ferments. You can ferment many different types of vegetables. Take a look at http://www.culturedfoodlife.com/ and http://bodyecology.com/ for some ideas of different products that will have different tastes.
Your tastes may change as you move forward.
Hello – I’m fully committed to this programme (and way of life) and have seen huge improvement in my sugar cravings within days of starting the visualizations. However, I have seen very little change in anything else. I’m now eating healthier than I ever have and implementing all the nutritional advice. I’ve also stopped grains and gluten. I have have dropped a pound or two but I don’t feel significantly different ie more energy as most people report, better moods etc. My question is when will I feel different? My diet has significantly changed and I would have expected to feel VERY different.
Hi Maria,
So great all the changes you have made. This is a journey and you are doing great things. It is hard to tell at what pace each person will feel things. Keep doing what you are doing, you are already noticing some changes which is so nice.
There’s a whole lot of questions and not very many answers up here. Are there specific days/ hours you guys check this board? It’s frustrating to wait two days or more to get an answer.
It is weekend Tricia and lot of different time zones 🙂
Unless they take 4 day weekends, that doesn’t explain why posts since last Thursday haven’t been answered.
Was there a Day 1 and Day 2 message from Jon this week?
Never mind. Found them!
Hi GM team,
I have a couple of unrelated questions please:
1. This may be silly but what is the difference between visualization and meditation? Since meditation is new to me, what is the best way to begin?
2. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 5 or 6, and on years ago (on Naturethroid where the dosage keeps getting increased annually) and have heard numerous times not to eat raw spinach, kale, etc. which includes raw green drinks – what are your thoughts on this? Also, is dehydrated considered the same as raw in this case?
Thank you for all your answers to our numerous questions.
Hi Alesia,
1. Visualization is a meditative technique. There are many styles of meditation. Yes, these visualization are a great way to start adding this type of practice into your life.
2. Dehydrated foods, if they are dried at a low temp (ie below 115F) they are still considered raw.
If you are concerned about eating raw spinach or kale feel free to lightly steam these things.
Seaweeds are a great thing to add to your diet for more nutrients as well as cultured foods.
Hi I have a question about berries I know Jon says dades and raison are high in Sugar ,what about dried inca berries en goij berries ? And can you switch lemon for lime or is there a difference in effect in them ?
Hi Mylou,
Inca and goji berries are great foods. Notice how you feel after eating them and if you get tired or have any adverse affects then lower the amount or hold off on them for a while.
Yes you can use either lemon or lime.
Thanks Nadia
Hi – apologies if these have been posted and answered before, I’m just catching up on week two……
Do I activate seeds by soaking them in just water & for how long? Whats the best way to dry them out after soaking?
What Garden of Life enzymes and probiotics are best? There are a lot of different types to choose between.
Thanks in advance 🙂
Hi Michelle,
Here is some info on activating/soaking nuts and seeds –> http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/soaking-nuts.html
I am not familiar with the specific products that Garden of Life has but for a probiotic I would suggest one that is refrigerated and that contains several different strains. Also for probiotics, increase your intake of fermented/cultured foods. For the enzymes, again try to get one that has a few different enzymes in it.
Thanks Nadia 🙂
I have seen in some places that cashews are soaked and in other places, they’re not. Which do you advise? I’ve just completed my first ever nut dehydration. Cashews took a very long time.
Hi Maria,
No need to soak cashews. If I do soak them it is just for about 15 minutes or so.
I have some baking/cooking questions. First, is the coconut palm sugar a substitute for brown sugar or white sugar? Second, is there a good substitute for flour when baking? I’ve heard someone tried coconut flour and it was a disaster. What can we use instead? And Third, I don’t have a food processor. I have a juice, a blender, a hand chopper, a stand mixer, a hand mixer, and a magic bullet. Which of these can I use instead of a food processor? Please don’t make me buy another appliance. lol… thank you!
Hi Tricia,
Yes you should be able to sub coconut palm sugar, this is a great way to upgrade old recipes; switch out ingredients for higher quality ones.
Good flour substitutes are almond meal or almond pulp leftover from making almond milk, chia bran, coconut flour. Different recipes will probably work better with different options or amounts.
I am sure you can get by with those appliances you already have.
Hi all,
The live Q&A archive is now up:

How does Jon feel about things like Guang Ho as a sweetner (might not be spelled correctly).
Hi Jennifer,
Sorry, I am not sure what that is.
I have been listening to the ‘safe and protected’ and after three days, I’m actually listening to (hearing) the entire thing, and it is leaving me in tears. (I think this is a good thing, BTW). I am noticing that the protection has me feeling isolated – separate from others – not engaged, but held back. — We’ll see if I can work through this. I suppose since there are only two weeks left, I should ask. Is there a visualization that would address this?
Jon,
Your story resonates with me so strongly. There is no doubt in my mind this is exactly what I need. It’s like you’ve been spying on me and know everything I’ve done an my efforts in weight loss because you describe it so well. I have had your program for a year and I do it on again off again, so of course I have been self-sabotaging. I will do it really great for a month and as soon as I start to see success I stop immediately. The other day you had a lady on who you told her to imagine she has lost all her weight and she starts to get all this attention and she’s walking toward a guy who obviously wants to make eye contact and connect, etc, and how does it feel. I was horrified. I love the anonymity excess weight provides. I am an introvert and very much enjoy being single. I am 55 and have had too much attention in my younger life and I want to lose weight for me to recognize myself again and be healthy and keep up with grandchildren. My trigger to gaining in the first place is my husband left 20 years ago while I was breastfeeding my youngest child (I raised four amazing children all by myself). He fell fast into drugs the first time he tried them and as far as I know is still using. How can I override this obvious fear of male attention with my desire to look and feel good for myself and my family. I haven’t allowed my picture to be taken all these years with family, etc. I am blessed with no recognizable health issues even though I need to lose half my body weight. I know my brain is the problem. I was a world class athlete as a youth and I lost all my baby weight gain after each child. I can pinpoint my start point practically to the day. I thought I had resolved this issue and forgiven, but when I was horrified when you asked that lady how it felt and she said wonderful and I thought it was horrifying, I knew that was my block. How can I not self-sabotage and see success. I know this program will be what ultimately will work for me. Thanks!
Jon, you talk about a lot about freeing/releasing ourselves from stress – is this really possible and how can your programme help? After more than a decade of total upheaval in my life (divorce, workplace bullying, sick child etc) I’m in a good place right now but i still have a lot of family stressors that I can’t get away from (elderly mother, teenage children) so I cannot be completely free at peace with myself. How do I cope with these things through your programme? Is it just via the visualizations?
Hi
I missed this week (week 3)Core Lesson. When I click on it to listen, I get tonight’s Q and A session.
Hi Ellen,
Week 3’s Core Lesson is here:
https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/stress-and-emotions/
Best, Anne, GM Team
Hello Jon! Hello GM Team!
Unfortunately I could not join the Live Q&A tonight 🙁 Please give me some guidance when you can on my question I was looking forward to ask today.
Listening to the Safe & Protected meditation this week, I had a major realization and flood of emotions… Ever since I was a kid, I just never felt “regarded” as a person. To give a few examples, I could never express my feelings as they were regarded as “unfounded”, or felt like anyone cared about my feelings, often interrupted, there was also the breach of boundaries… I was slim then, but just overcome with sadness… In my teens I acted out in rebellion and destructive ways… even wondering myself – why… it was not me, but it somehow felt good… I’ve since did a lot of self work, learning how to speak my mind and be assertive… I no longer repress my feelings, but now I find myself at the opposite spectrum where I blow up, get angry and completely lose control… Feeling the anger and emotional pain is quite unbearable for me and, as you can imagine, food and full belly instantly make me calm. So, my question – what happens now? Let’s say I am overwhelmed at work or kids not listening… something would bother me and I can instantly feel my blood boiling… What do I say? What do I do? How do I remain calm in the moment? I really don’t want to rattle my emotions, lose control, and overreact. I am doing all my work and action steps and know that the meditations and healthy body will make me stronger. But what can I do in the moment when I feel very sensitive/vulnerable and can’t help but reach for food to calm my emotions?
Thank very much!!!
Anja
I have a hard time visualizing the white ball of light up and down my spine. Is it ok to substitute another visual while doing your guided visualization?
Hi Angie,
It’s definitely ok to swap in a different visual image for the visualization – make it your own! 🙂 -Anne, GM Team
What are your opinions about the frequency if eating? Should we only eat when we are hungry or should we eat as frequent as we can even if we are NOT hungry?
My other question is: what is your opinion about black tea? Is it something to be avoided or csn we drink it liberally?
And what about olives (black or green)? Should we avoid these too in your system?
Hi Ahmet,
Eat when you are hungry. But if you notice that you find yourself getting really hungry as you move through the day then be proactive and eat some healthy snacks more often.
Black tea has caffeine so I would suggest drinking moderately. If you are drinking it, ensure you obtain an organic type.
Olives can be fine, again look for the best quality, organic with no preservative, colorings, etc.
Dear Jon,
In one if your takks I have heard saying that we should not used pasteurized milk and instead natural one. But supposing we found one, shouldn’t we boil the milk before we use for bacterial and viral safety? But if we boil the milk, aren’t we doing a similar thing to the milk? Because as far as I know drinking ir using any milk as raw is very dangerous. What do you think?
Hi Ahmet,
I think this all comes down to the health of the cow and its living environment.
If you find a source of raw milk, I would suggest speaking to the farmer to learn more.
The whole idea of drinking milk raw is to not have it cooked. But if you have concerns about this you can always have nut and seed milks like almond milk.
Hi Jon – well, I wrote a long message on a different page and I’m not sure if it went through. Pardon me if this is a duplicate.
I have been making changes for a month and am pleased with my progress. Eating well, visualizing 2x per day, taking a probiotic from Donna Gates, quit drinking alcohol.I feel more tired than I did before I started the GM. I feel kind of “broken”. So I have taken every opportunity to take naps and go to bed early if I feel like it – figuring this is my body talking to me. A week before I joined NYNY I heard you speak with Dr. Paul _____. He mentioned something about stress can bring on a freeze response. I feel that might be me. I have had chronic stress for 25 years and sometimes it’s very extreme ( relationships ending, lonliness, financial tightrope, too much responsibility for work etc). Many days I feel I just can’t make one more decision or think one more thought or remember one more thing. Is there more that I can do or a visualization to help get over this? I can tell I haven’t lost much if any weight and I want to make whatever changes I can to lose the at least 50 pounds I have to lose. I do feel very pleased with my progress but want to make sure I am doing everything within my power to lose weight.
Thank you Jon.
Cindy
Hi Debra,
I am so sorry about this – we will look into this ASAP!
Den
Thank you, Den.
Hi Team!
I have two glitches.
1. When I try to access the archives it tells me I don’t have access.
2. The evening visualization stops completely after 2 minutes.
Can you help?
Thanks!
Aida
#1 is ok. I’d love to hear about #2!
Hi Aida,
Sorry for the hassles. Here’s the direct download to the Evening Visualization:
http://gabriel-method-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/visualizations/Evening-Visualization-vph.mp3
I’ve checked the player for the evening visualization and
it seems to work okay but probably better to download and save it to your computer or smartphone or mp3 device. If it’s still no good, please email me at help@thegabrielmethod.com and I’ll help troubleshoot.

Hello Jon
When I sign up for this training initial I was certain that I was addicted to sugar, which was the root cause of my weight but now I think my biggest problem is motivation.I listened to week 3 lesson about 2 hour ago and was excited about the affirmations you said. I can only remember 3 though so I will have to listen again. I realize my whole life I have hated my body. But now I’m just in pain every day, depressed, hungry for sugar. I’ve been doing the action steps except for the meals. I find the visualizations in the morning so hard, I can’t stay focus to actually get the benefit. What suggestion do you have for me to boost my motivation to want to follow your footsteps exactly as you put them together.
Hi Clarita,
Do not worry if it feels like you are not taking in the words during your morning visualisation – they are still working – it just takes time to train yourself to ‘switch off’ – and this does happen. Even then though you still will have days that feel like you aren’t just taking it in – this is normal. Just keep doing the visualisations – and particularly keep up with those affirmations if they really resonated with you – this means that they really struck a chord. You will start to notice a difference and then all the other action steps that Jon recommends will become easier to add to your routine too – as you will feel more motivated.
Keep us posted.
Den
Thank you Den.
In regard to soaking nuts and seeds. I activate almonds, walnuts, macadamias etc. but was told seeds and cashews are not usually activated. I’m happy to soak them, but does this also include flax seeds and chia seeds. If I soak flax seeds, how easy is it then to grind them to use on salads etc.
Is there anything wrong with putting whole flax seeds onto my salads? Can the body digest them?
Also, can you explain the different between linseed and flax seed.
I’ve had a really busy week so only managed to catch up with Week 2 program yesterday. Now I am reading through everyone’s comments. Saw the response for flax seeds and chia seeds from about a week ago so I have the information and the link. It looks as though I should grind the flax seeds before eating them, which makes sense as they probably come out the other end much the same way as they go in!
I am SOOOO glad I joined this program. It is inspiring me and energising me. Thank you so much Jon and all your team.
Hi Susan,
Glad you found the answers to your questions. Do let us know if you have other questions.
Hi Everyone,
Geraldine again, just wanted to let you all know that Week 3’s Core Lesson is archived here:

Hi there!!
I totally missed the core class this week. When will is be archived? I would love to listen before the q/a tomorrow.
Thanks so much
Hi Ameenah, it was archived earlier today and the link is here: https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/stress-and-emotions/
Enjoy the class!

Dear Jon,
I am really enjoying the NYNY program and so far have a lot more energy from changing my diet. I am struggling to get some of the foods and wonder if I should just aim to get as close as possible and celebrate my successes rather than focus on the many things I can not access. My job means I travel a lot. When in Cambodia and Vietnam I am not able to get many milk/dairy alternatives, I have found brown rice milk. Is this ok? I can not find digestive enzymes, but on the web I found that a good alternative is to have lemon in water and to eat beets (which I can find at a local market and boil) and also leafy greens and Fenurgreek tea. Could you comment? Do you think attitude is an important aspect of success? Is it important to be really focused on the access to key products as well? Sue
Hi Sue,
This is about doing your best and about making the best choices from what is available to you.
Don’t worry if you cannot source the specific items we recommend … like you said get the best where you are and celebrate your successes.
Yes, I believe attitude is a HUGE part of this, this is where the visualizations are key. Keep those with you while travelling them so that you can always listen to them wherever you are.
All of those things you mentioned are fine.
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that we’ve posted Week 2’s Q & A here:
https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/live-q-and-a-2/
Thank you for your patience!

Hi Jon… my quiz results were “chronic dieting and emotional trauma”. I’m 50lbs overweight. Almost 2 years ago blood tests revealed that I am very sensitive to dairy, eggs and gluten which I stopped eating immediately. About 20 lbs dropped off without effort, headaches gone and generally felt much better. 7 months ago the naturopath suggested I challenge these foods which I did over several weeks. I was under more stress than usual at the time. Didn’t like the way I felt with these foods and although I didn’t continue to eat them the weight came back in a flash. A couple months later I had an extremely stressful situation and I gained some more weight. Read your book in Dec/Jan and started the 21 day visualizations and evening visualization and haven’t stopped to date. Initially no hunger for a couple of days and then it just felt like my body/mind went into resistance mode and I’ve gained a few more lbs. I’m enjoying a lot more nutrient dense raw green foods. I have taken probiotics and enzymes for the last two years. I’m in this program because I believe it will work but I’m just not seeing any evidence of that yet. Help me understand what’s going on with my body. Thanks, Glenda
I cant ear the Q&A From week 2. Could You send me the link please?
Hi Lucy,
You can find the Week 2 Live Q&A archived here https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/live-q-and-a-2/
Best, Anne, GM Team
That link does not take us anywhere other than the front page of the new you in the new year page…. I will try the youtube link later tonight. Hopefully that will work.
Hi Michelle,
You can find the Week 2 Q&A here: https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/live-q-and-a-2/

Its on Youtube at this link –> http://youtu.be/kI7gcG38gVg (week 2’s Q&A)
Hello all,
I wanted just just back from traveling for 2 weeks to deal with some family issues and attend a funeral. While I was gone I was able to keep up with visualizations, learned a lot about how and what to order in restaurants and listen to the classes. I followed Anne’s advice and purchased and used the packets of the Green superfood supplements from the health food store. She also suggested I not be afraid to ask for what I needed and not be afraid to say no thank you to foods that my body didn’t want. Excellent advice! I would normally not want to put someone out, so I would not have thought to do it on my own. I found most people to be helpful and accommodating. I also made a few things out of the cook book to take with me. I listened to the video about meridian tapping and found it very helpful in dealing with the stress. I was only able to lose 4 pounds during the two weeks but am still calling it a win. I learned a lot and feel that if I could have any level of success during this time, then I can do this!! My appetite has diminished and so have the cravings. My energy level is still up and down but I am hopeful that it will level out some now that I am home. Thank you so much to Jon Gabriel and his team!
Mary,
That is so great! Thinking ahead of time, planning and preparing to take care of yourself when travelling, with family and during stressful moments is so so important. Sounds like you did a great job… well done!
Mary I’m so glad to hear this. Well done! Thanks for sharing your success. Keep it up 🙂
-Anne, GM Team
I’m using visualizations as advised (and do enjoy them) to deal with past issues (as yet unsure which they are). However, I’ve got an ongoing extreme stressor in my life as well (a family member—not my husband, guys 🙂
Is there a particular one of the visualizations I should be using for calming when I’ve had a period of dealing with/worrying about this person? Any advice most appreciated.
Hi Sandra,
As Jon suggested in the webinar, try the Safe Strong and Protected visualization.
Yes, thank you so much. Enjoyed this talk 🙂
I listened to Living Goddess this morning. It was amazing. Really powerful.
Hi Maria,
This is such a great one!
Den 🙂
I don’t seem to be able to get the Live Q & A Week 2. It doesn’t seem to be located with all of the rest. There is a note in these Q&A’s below that indicates it should be available. Can you provide a link to this?
Thanks
Hi Lorell,
The link is here https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/live-q-and-a-2/
Best, Anne, GM Team
Is it possible to give an estimate of how long it takes for the average person for the FAT programmes to be switched off and weight loss to start assuming you follow all Jon’s advice?
Hi Susan, not really possible to estimate as every person is different. Some begin losing weight straight away, some not for many months, some lose quickly, some lose gradually. It’s a process for our bodies to learn that we’re safe and it’s OK to release the weight.
-Anne, GM Team
That’s a shame. It can be hard to maintain motivation and to hope it’s going to be successful over a number of months without seeing obvious results.
Hi Susan, if you’re interested to see some Gabriel Method weight loss success stories, there are great videos from many folks from around the world, here: http://www.thegabrielmethod.com/success-videos
Hope this inspires you!
-Anne, GM Team
Will the core classes, Q&A, guest classes and all the audios from the resource library be made available to download? I like to listen on my ipod. Thank you!
Hi Pamela- all the audio resources in the Resource Library: the full Visualization Library, Jon’s Daily Updates, and Best of Jon audios – are all available for download. You’ll see the Download MP3 button next to each of those. You’ll also see Download Audio buttons below some of the video classes. All best, Anne, GM Team
Hi,
What are the thoughts on slim pasta or konjac noodles?
Hi Susie,
I am not sure what those are but some other great pasta like things to use are spiralized zucchini or squash or kelp noodles.
They are noodles made from the konjac vegetable and are found in health food stores and even coles and woolworths. I would appreciate if someone from the Gabriel method could research them for me.
Hey – I had been looking into glucomannan for blood sugar control. Konjac is glucomannan and water, and nothing else, so is very high in soluble fiber. To quote one study “The KGM (Konjac glucomannan) supplement improved blood lipid levels by enhancing fecal excretion of neutral sterol and bile acid and alleviated the elevated glucose levels in diabetic subjects. KGM could be an adjunct for the treatment of hyperlipidemic diabetic subjects.” So studies have shown that it is good for hyperglycemia and hypercholesterolemia.
so it’s looking good then? thanks!

Is there a written recipe for the raw organic chocolate? I see the video but not the ingredients list.
Hi Tina,
For the Chocolate Treats video, Jon describes the recipe completely in the video, it is not written. For the other 2 Chocolate recipes, that are not videos, you’ll see Download buttons with the recipes.
Happy chocolate-making! 🙂

Hello, does Kumbucha count as a fermented food?
Hi Brandi,
Kombucha is a fermented product – so yes this does count as a fermented food.
Kind regards
Den 🙂
Hi Jon. I’m catching up with everything after getting a late start this weekend finally. I am wondering, after digesting the material in this class, about autism. My 2 year old god-son has been diagnosed with severe autism. How can these principles translate safely to a toddler? Is it still okay to give a toddler these digestive enzyme and probiotic supplements? If so, what dosage?
Hi Laura,
This program is geared toward adults. Regarding your toddler, these questions would be best answered by talking with your child’s doctor.
-Anne, GM Team
It wasn’t clear to me if komboucha is a good fermented drink or not? I understand that is same as wine. Can you explain please
Hi Lucy,
Kombucha is a fermented drink made from tea. It is non-alcoholic – but due to its fizzy texture it can be great as a substitute for alcohol. I quite enjoy having Kombucha in the late afternoon – when you would normally have a pre-dinner wine or spirit.
I hope this helps.
Den
I’m trying to download the live audio file from week 1 and it’s saying “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it.” Is there a place to go to download the file instead of just listening to it on the web?
Hi Tricia,
If you’re talking about the Live Q&A from Week 1, there is a Download Audio link on the page, and the direct link to that file is:
http://new-you-new-year-2015.s3.amazonaws.com/Ask_Jon-NYNY-2015-1.mp3
Hope this helps!
Anne, GM Team
Anne – I can’t get either the button nor the direct link to work. Here is my error message:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Access DeniedBC1C5131E1A27435NDcyqzv+LRQXF1jgOnM8Kfgt86766tmCQ4zFnMFBdftScxp3TIA0ZY7G31yFisi5NjXdVl73/0U=You talk a lot about stevia and Donna Gates recently mentioned ‘drops’ of stevia. There are many brands out there and I don’t know which to buy – which are processed and which are not (ie the Truvia brand). What brands to do you suggest? There are also stevia leaf powder. So am confused. Thanks.
Hi Maria,
I would suggest getting the stevia leaf powder as this will be the stevia leaf that is simply dried. This will be the least processed form. This will be a green powder.
Still can’t play the week 2 guest class and there is now no sound on the meridian tapping or the week 1 guest class either. Have logged out and in again – is it just me??
I just got into all the ones you are having problems with and do not have any problem with them. By chance is you sound off on your system?
Good luck getting in.
I also got in earlier today.
still a problem for me – the sound works fine on Jon’s daily audios but not on any of the long sessions including ones I’ve watched before with no problem. I use a Mac – is that relevant?
I don’t know what happened but now it all works! Thanks to all those who replied with suggestions
Hi Susan,
So glad you were able to get them!
Den
Hi, I live in Europe and can’t get into the Q&A live calls as they are far too late in the night, if you can please help me with the following: I’ve been struggling with Crohn disease for 20 years and therefore I’m not able to eat salads (or fruit), they irritate my bowel. Is there any advice Jon can give in this respect – how can I get my “green” food in this case? Also, can Jon address the weight issues related to menopause. Any additional advice for this? Thanks.
Hi all – I just tried my videos and the guess class from week 2 and they are all working fine. Maria, just a thought for the visualizations, if you have space on your computer and when you get your connection back, I downloaded the visualizations onto my computer and iPod so I don’t have to be connected to hear them. Hope that helps and good luck to everyone on your connections
I’m talking about the apps on my iphone that I use to visualize. They have stopped working since the ‘bug fix’.
Oh – I’ve been using the visualization library – did not realize it was the phone app – I didn’t get that
Hi Maria,
Sorry you’re having issues with the Visualization App product. Please email help@thegabrielmethod.com so our Customer Service team can assist you.
Best,
Anne, GM Team
Can someone help me. All my visuslizations apps have stopped working since you supposedly fixed the loop bug. I rely on those apps. I have emailed. Please help!
Yes mine too!
Mine too
I think there is something wrong with the App. I purchased all from APP store, and it’s is frozen.
On the top of this page (in the resource library) is the visualization library which has all the visualizations on it. I click on that for listening on my iphone or ipad.
Ellen, i deleted my apps then re-downloaded them via the app store and they now seem to be working fine. What a palava!
I did the same thing yesterday, deleted the app and then downloaded it again. It worked well afterwards.
I’m getting “Error loading Youtube. Video could not be played” when trying to watch either of the videos from this week. I had a chance to watch a few minutes of the Core Class a couple nights ago, but now that I can watch it again, I can’t get into it nor the Guest Class. I’ve updated my Flash player, but still get the same error message.
Any suggestions?
It’s definitely not a problem with Youtube. I can access the videos from my laptop and my phone, but I can’t even get regular Youtubes anymore on my main computer. I’ve tried all the suggestions like clearing the cookies, updating Flash Player, etc., and still get the error message. So glad I could finally listen to the classes on my other devices before Week 3 stuff begins!
The Donna Gates/Jon video only plays silently for 11 seconds before cutting out. Is anyone else having this problem or have any advice how to solve it?
No problem here and sorry ,have not got a clue what you could do about is
Sorry Susan, sorry about that. Not sure why you’re encountering that problem, the video/audio are playing on our end. Have you tried viewing the page from different internet browsers?
-Anne, GM Team
In Week 3 Action Steps, what is ‘the Big 3?’
Debra: live foods, proteins and healthy Omega-3 fats
Thanks Maria!
Can I tell you how much fun I am having??? The visualizations are great – living godess is now my favorite morning ritual. I had already implemented the green juice, but now added the omega 3 and probiotics to my diet, and I can feel a difference in my sugar cravings! And I mean a serious dent in the “Its 3 pm and I must have chocolate or I will go nuts” type of craving…
My alcohol intake is way down (not drinking a glass of wine every night) and I am making decisions based on a gut reaction to reject that piece of toast, and just eat the eggs (i used to eat two pieces of toast each morning). Just want you all to know that I really appreciate this.
Hi Michelle,
I too am enjoying the visualizations – I had gotten the evening one on another program but got out of the habit of listening and now I feel I am getting much more by doing twice a day. I also think my sugar cravings are getting less.
Michelle and Alesia,
Thank you so much for sharing. Very inspiring!
Continue to enjoy and keep us posted as you go.
How do I know if the probiotic or digestive enzyme that I buy is a good one? I don’ t have access to the American products you mentioned here. I saw a tablet called Papaya enzyme and I got that. Any good? And the probiotics? What must I look for specifically so that I have got all the good bacteria covered that’s not in my coconut kefir?
Hi Erica,
Find a good health food store in your area and speak to the staff there. In my experience they are usually very knowledgeable on their products. Ask them for the best probiotic they sell. I should be in the refrigerated section of the store. Look on the bottle and you want it to contain many different strains of friendly bacteria – not just one or two.
Same thing for the digestive enzyme, ask the staff for their recommendation. Papain is the enzyme from papaya which is a good one, but I would suggest finding a digestive enzyme that has different ones in it too.
I’ve been trying to eat more fermented foods — at least one serving a day. I like sauerkraut, but I prefer to cook it first. I seem to be able to digest it a little better if it’s cooked. Does cooking destroy the healthy effects of the fermented cabbage?
Hi Sandra,
Yes, cooking will destroy the friendly probiotics in the sauerkraut. Look for a good raw and live sauerkraut.
Thanks for the prompt response! I suspected that was the answer. I’m glad I checked.
Thanks for the info on soaking seeds and nuts! I went on a diet 5 years ago( doctor based) that got me started on eating seeds with yogurt and salads. Not once was it mentioned I needed to soak them. I made a comment to the ” program director” about them …ahem…coming out of me unchanged from their earlier form and still, no one said anything!
Hi Margot,
Great that you now have access to this information!
I have heard little discussion on beans – black, pinto, garbanzo – how does Jon feel about them and are they healthy? Dried, cooked vs. washed out of a can? Sometimes I do beans, greens and an egg or chicken on top – good or bad? You might guess I am a Mexican food lover. Best choices? Corn tortillas? Fajitas? Rice -brown? Hot sauce?
Hi Patricia,
A lot of these are hard to digest. You could try soaking them overnight before cooking them.
Instead of wheat tortillas, try coconut wraps or even using a collard green leaf or a romaine lettuce leaf as the wrap part. Nori sheets also work well as the wrap part. Here is a recipe for coconut wraps –> http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/coconut-meat.html
Instead of rice try pulsing cauliflower or parsnips in a food processor until you get a rice like consistency. If you do eat rice brown or wild would be better than white.
I love hot sauce, get one that is free from preservatives and colour dyes. I love making it myself, if you want to try, here is the recipe –> http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/pepper-sauce-recipe.html
In a moment of possibly senior-moment-dyslexia :p, I purchased carob, instead of cacao nubs at the health food store yesterday. Are these ok to use on GM?
Hi Sandra,
I feel carob is fine.
Thanks, Nadia 🙂
It is very cold here and I find it best for breakfast to have hot porridge oats to which I add chia seeds, whey protein and some blueberries. This is very satisfying and keeps me full until lunchtime. I am aware that grains are not encouraged but is it ok with the extras I have added as above?
Hi Susan,
If you are feeling good and nourished that is fine. Stay aware if you feel a blood sugar spike and crash and if you do you can switch to something like chia pudding.
Thanks – that’s good to know

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to give you all a heads up that we’ll post the Live Q & A for Week 2 by early next week. As we’ve had some tech glitches, sorry for any inconvenience.
Thank you for your patience! Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks,
Geraldine
Gabriel Method team
I am getting very discouraged. My weight has not budged in 2 weeks. I am eating well. I have a green juice with a quarter avocado added in the morning, a big spinach salad with chickpeas, 2 eggs, quarter avocado, and a bit of olive oil dressing. Dinner, I generally don’t have carbs, but when I do, I limit my quantity. I am doing the exercise 2-3 times per week, which is down from what I used to do before the program. I am doing visualizations as instructed plus additional holsync an hour per day.
But each day, nada, no weight loss. I am becoming a non believer. All these visualizations about the weight melting off me, are getting hard to believe because it is not happening. I lost 7 lbs before this program using an ayurvedic kitchari cleanse which was rice, mung beans and root vegetables for 10 days. I did not gain it back, but that is the last weight loss I have had. Do I start counting calories again?
NO!
Don’t count calories ever again.
EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the risk of dating myself…***Warning, warning, Will Robinson! Danger!***
🙂
Then what am I supposed to do?
Throw away your scales. Keep adding live foods.
Keep adding Omega 3’s.
Keep listening to the visualizations.
Throw the scales far enough away that you can’t go back and get it! Stop focusing on your “number” and focus on feeding your body what it needs. The number will eventually take care of itself.
Live Q&A from yesterday is not on the site. can you post it for those of us who missed it?
Hi Michelle, the call is being archived and will be up by Monday or sooner if possible! -Anne, GM Team
Monday is completely unacceptable. This should posted the next day.
That’s a little harsh, I think. More than likely, they have an IT guy on retainer who is busy and/or gone for a long weekend break and cannot get around to it before Monday.
As per usual, technical factors are at the mercy of the people who can fix them – at least that has been the case most places that I have worked. 😉
Maybe it is a little harsh, but those of us who rely on it because we don’t have access to the live q&a are missing out on this when it could be really helpful. The questions people ask are really helpful – things I dont even think of about THIS weeks topics. I’m traveling next week and will only have a few minutes a day to to listen to these hour long programs. I don’t mean to be annoying – but work it out guys! If you are going to sell a program like this- make sure your technology is up to it!
Not sure if you are aware of it, but there has been a very severe cyclone here. Communications may have been down. Many people have lost their homes. Please be a little forgiving.
Jon – as fate would have it, I’m undergoing a breast cancer scare in the middle of week 2 of the NYNY program. Despite the visualization on being safe, I’m scared. My body is reacting to the fear by holding onto even more weight in the form fluid and inflammation in my upper abdomen. I’m in good health and on no medications other than a little blood pressure med and Armour Thyroid. Any tips for gently releasing the fluid, toxins inflammation? Dandylion tea isn’t doing the trick. I’m doing the digestive enzymes, probiotics, and cultured foods (I’ve been on the probiotics and cultured foods before this program). Thank you!
Jon – I suffered from a terrible ‘sweet tooth’ for much of my life and recently realized that I’m addicted to sugar. Within a few days of doing your visualizations this calmed down and now that I’ve adopted your healthier eating it’s has subsided. However, I still need something sweet after most meals. Why is this, how can I curb this, and what is the best thing to eat when I feel this way?
Hi Maria,
Eating The Big 3 (Gabriel friendly) meals which include healthy omega 3’s, live foods and good protein will help to keep you balanced and nourished… but if you are wanting something sweet there are ways to do this in a nourishing way too.
Try raw chocolate or raw ice cream. Try energy balls made with raw coconut palm sugar. Try raw chocolate pudding.
Chocolate; https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/chocolate/
Ice Cream; http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/vegan-ice-cream.html
Chocolate Pudding; http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/chocolate-pudding-recipe.html
Thank you for your response. Although the sugar cravings are not very bad they also do occur after I eat a meal with the big three. That’s why I’m concerned. What am I doing wrong?
Maria, I don’t feel you are doing anything wrong. Continue to eat nourishing foods and if you feel to eat something sweet, strive to satisfy that with something sweet that is also nourishing. You have already experienced that this has shifted some and this may happen more as you move forward.
The Garden of Life brand has a product called Perfect Food RAW, a green super food powder that is available with raw cacao and no sweeteners. Should we stick to the “greens only” types of super foods or is it OK to take the ones with additions such as cacao or lemon? The addition of the cacao really helps hide the bitter greens taste.
Hi Jill,
Jon and Nadia often find Cacao too much of a stimulant but if you prefer the taste of the powder with the cacao the definitely go with that one. You are more likely to use it regularly if you like the taste.
Den
Thanks Den – I think I’ll limit the cacao one since it seems sweet and might keep my “sweet tooth” activated. Also hoping my tastes will change and I’ll eventually prefer the plain greens.
Great Jill 🙂
You will actually find that you will feel so good after the greens that you will look forward to it each day – whatever the taste.
Hi Jill,
The product you mentioned above is what Jon served us at Omega in August, so that would make me think that Jon approves of it.
I try to drink one each day.
Lorell
Thanks Lorell! Just wasn’t sure about the cacao part. Anything to make it easier to drink 🙂
I understand Flaxseed goes rancid rather quickly – how do I avoid this and what does “rancid” present as?
Hi Leeanne,
The best way to store any type of seeds is an airtight container (preferably glass not plastic) in the fridge. Flaxseeds should have a nutty taste – if they have a bitter taste they have gone bad.
I hope this helps.
Den – GM Team
Hi Den I bought a bag of pumpkin seeds hemp seeds and China seeds. I have been putting them in a morning shake with almond milk. I have not soaked any seeds, I have not heard that I should do this before. Please confirm this is important or really not that necessary. Thanks. And what about the almonds you buy in the store. They need to be soaked?
Hi Gretchen,
If this is a mix of pumpkin, hemp and chia I wouldn’t worry about soaking them, add them to your smoothie and enjoy.
When buying almonds in the store, buy them raw and then soak them at home. You can also buy them already activated.
Here are some guidelines on soaking nuts; http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/soaking-nuts.html
Nadia, thank you for replying so quickly! I did read about soaking the nuts but i wasn’t clear on how long to dry them. And what would it say regarding being activated. I have never seen that in a regular store. Don’t mean to sound stupid.
Hi Gretchen,
In our local Whole Foods they sell activated almonds and other nuts and seeds in the bulk section. They will be labeled as ‘activated almonds’ (no stupid questions, we are all learning, smile.)
Hi – Eating as a habit is set up as children. I have to young boys – step kids they are with me every second week and the are age 7 and 9. They love all the “wrong” things – bread and white rice and pasta – and plan foods – salads are not really on their eating list. Nor are vegetables unless smothered in “white sauce – flour milk and cheese – and they only like processed cheese. I know they are a victim of my “easy habits” but how do I change this – what do I put in their lunch box that will give them energy and that they will eat. They get a fruit, carrots and cucumber and a bread roll with either salami or peanut butter. What do you suggest I do to help ween these kids off staple diet food. Also should they at this young age be taking probiotics and digestive enzymes…?
Hi Leanne,
That is so true! I have two boys too aged 10 and 7 and it is a constant battle to get them to eat right.
Probiotics and digestive enzymes are a great idea for kids – you can sneak them in Smoothies and juices. Smoothies are a great way to get nutrients into fussy kids – you can hide all sorts of things in smoothies – and these can be a great afternoon snack. Energy balls are also a great snack for kids and can be added to lunchboxes. There are some great examples in Jon’s recipe book of these. Also here is a link to a video of Jon making a chocolate protein smoothie: http://www.thegabrielmethod.com/fitness/recipe and here is a link to a video of Jon making protein balls : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn6d6gUKLOQ
Kids will be always be kids but if you can sneak extra nutrition in here and there and also constantly offer them healthy options at each meal you are doing great. Eventually they will start to try the healthy options and you can start to remove the unhealthier options bit by bit. Educating kids on what is good for their body is also important. Getting kids involved in preparing and cooking foods can be a huge part of this education process. I hope this helps.

Hi Leanne,
I’ll just add to this that Jon recently wrote a book together with a pediatrician, called Fit Kids Revolution, that is all about how to grow healthy kids 🙂 You can get the first 3 chapters for free here:

Cheers, Anne, GM Team
I have a question about soaking nuts. When should we do this? If we use them in one of the recipes from the book it doesn’t say they should be soaked or not. Does this apply to seeds like chia and flax also? Which nuts should be soaked?
Hi Tina,
Preferably all nuts and seeds should be activated in some way before eating. This is because they have enzyme inhibitors that prevent you from being able to digest them properly (and therefore obtain the goodness contained within). These enzyme inhibitors are broken down after the nuts have been soaked and begin to germinate (or sprout). Crushing seeds has the same effect as it allows your body to access the nutritional powerhouse held within the hard outer husk. You can soak nuts ands seeds as soon as you purchase them, then dry them out and store them in a jar in the fridge. Chia seeds and flaxseeds can be crushed, and Chia seeds can be soaked in liquid – and this turns them into a pudding like texture.
I hope this helps.

Tina – here is some info from Nadia on an earlier call with Jon.
Here is the link Nadia gave yesterday for chia
http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/chia-seed.html
and here is the info for nuts/seeds
http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/soaking-nuts.html
Thanks for that Jill!
Hi if you don’t have a dehydrator to dry the nuts (almonds) how do know when they are dry? Thank you
Hi Gretchen,
Bite into the nuts and if they are completely dry they will ‘snap’ with a crunch. If they are not completely dry you will be able to detect some moisture when you bite into them.
Without a dehydrator, you can dry the nuts in your oven. Set the oven on the lowest setting and keep the door open. Put the nuts on a tray in the oven and keep checking them until dry. It may take several hours.
And is the live session 4pm California time? I haven’t been able to listen live as it is right in the middle of my work schedule. I feel like i am missing so much. Suggestions? Thank you. What if you don’t want the Chiang seeds to have a pudding texture? Thank you.
Hi Gretchen,
The times listed on the right side of the page are all New York time (EST).
Add less chia seeds and you will get a chia drink… more chia seeds and you will get a pudding.
I wasn’t allowed to connect to the webcast and listen to the session (option 2) today. All I could hear was ‘click click click.’ Very disappointed as I reshuffled some things in my busy schedule to listen in live.
I know a replay will be made available, but it’s not the same and just takes more of my time. This is the first session I’ve had trouble listening in. I hope the problem is remedied before tomorrow’s session.
And is the live session 4pm California time? I haven’t been able to listen live as it is right in the middle of my work schedule. I feel like i am missing so much. Suggestions? Thank you.
Hi Jon, I love your program, I’m sure the visualizations have already decreased my high blood pressure.
First, I seem to be developing a few more food sensitivities since I started the program. I just started the digestive enzymes yesterday but is it common to get exaggerated food reactions before you get better.
Second, I had estrogen driven breast cancer in 2010. Can I take flax seeds now or should I take chia seeds instead. Oncologists are not as anti-flax as they used to be and I like flax seeds.
Thanks! Joan
Hi! I’ve been doing pretty good these last few days – eating as suggested, taking some supplements, doing the visualizations day and night and in between – till last night when I had a dinner to attend. I fortified myself with a visualization right before I left and even imagined myself following the program successfully. However, as soon as I walked in the restaurant it was like the old me just took over and I threw it all out the window!!! I know each day is an opportunity to continue moving forward but I feel so bad about losing my momentum and commitment to my health! This morning I felt like a fake, so much so that I couldn’t do the visualization. I did manage to make the green smoothie though. Will you be addressing this kind of issue next week? I feel this is an emotional thing for me.
PS I tried to post this question for the Q & A today on the Chatroll but I’m not sure it’s going through.
Hi Aida,
It would be great if you could call in and speak to Jon. However, first thing, don’t be hard on yourself. Remember there are no such things as good days and bad days – … just keep going as though last night did not happen. One night will not un-do all the good you have done – so don’t worry. Try to fit in a Visualisation today and definitely try to do your evening one. You are doing great and your body may throw some self-sabotage at you – and this is where the visualisations will have the most impact.
Keep us posted.
Den
Thanks Den,
I was listening to the call on my head set but I wasn’t in a place where I could talk. I will try next week and he might address this in his talk then. Thank you for responding! I was able to keep my food live today, although I was constantly tempted to eat whatever. Yeah, self-sabotage for sure!
A huge part of stopping the self-sabotage is actually recognising it for what it is. The next time it happens you will know and understand and be more forgiving to yourself. Your body has become incredibly good at protecting you – which is a great thing … you just need to redirect this protection 🙂
I too ate rice pilaf last night and cerea this with almond milk and rice with chicken and green beans for lunch. Even though I knew better. I am upset that I have been eating raw almonds every day and had no idea that I was supposed to soak them along with the Chia seeds. I have been cramping thinking it was a woman thing. How do you get energized when you feel exhausted?
Please can you answer this question for me. I make coconut kefir and I have it every morning with my green smoothie. Is this as good as a probiotic? What about kombucha with tea and sugar? I have some of this in my smoothie too.. seriously vinegary.
Is the lassi that you buy from the Indian restaurants also fermented or do you have to make your own?
Hi Erica,
Great questions – Jon actually answered some of these during today’s (Week 2) Live Q&A .
Coconut Kefir is a great probiotic – but it only contains one strain of healthy bacteria and that is the kefir bacteria – so you still need probiotics to get many of the other healthy bacteria your gut needs.
Kombucha with tea and sugar – Jon says that sugar does not need to be added to this unless you are adding it for flavour. That said if your Kombucha is very vinegary then it does mean most of the sugar has been eaten up by the bacteria.
The lassi you get from Indian restaurants is fermented but the best option is to make your own so that you know exactly what has been added.
Kind regards
Den
I would like to call in to one of Jon’s sessions but I can’t find a phone number to call from the UK? Is there one available?
Thanks
Hi Susan,
Glad you were able to call in today.
For UK callers – Skype is the best option.
Den 🙂
Maybe you have answered this before, but once our 5 week course ends, will we still have access to this page? For how long? So much valuable info, so little time!
Hi Patricia,
You own this program so you will have access to it indefinitely.
Hope this helps.
Den 🙂
where do we get digestive enzymes in California?
Hi Gretchen,
A Wholefoods store or any good Organic and or Health Food Store will carry Digestive Enzymes. You can also get them online – at Amazon for example.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Den
HI, I highly recommend VitaCost.com I don’t work for them or anything I just use them and find there prices and product are great and they are shipped right to your house.
Thanks for sharing that Nicole 🙂
Can you tell me if your probiotic and Green me Up Jonny have garlic in them?
Thanks!
Love the visualizations and your voice is very soothing.
Hi Margot,
If you click on the button that says Nutritional Facts next to any of our products, you’ll see a full list of ingredients: http://www.thegabrielmethod.com/store
We’re so glad you are liking the visualizations!

Thanks for the suggestion of coconut yogurt. It has quite a nice taste. Do you suggest only natural or are the flavoured ones okay too?
Also, I went to Whole Foods and bought the Garden of Life greens and Primal Defense probiotics and they both have garlic in them. I am allergic to garlic
Hi Margot,
Sorry that those two products have garlic. Your local store should be able to help you with finding a Super Green that does not contain garlic. Our Gabriel Method Probiotics do not contain garlic.
I love Coconut yoghurt as well. It would be best to stay with the natural ones and flavour them yourself.
Kind regards
Den
Hi Margot,
I’ve mentioned this product before, and it doesn’t contain garlic but does have a lot of greens and sprouted things in it – just search for the ultimate meal, or go to theultimatelife.net.
I wish I’d written down the information about how to deal with nuts/seeds during the chat roll…I didn’t, however, so must ask again. I have flax seeds that I grind in a coffee grinder, and have just purchased Chia seeds. So—what are they to be soaked in and how long please?
Here is the link Nadia gave yesterday for chia

Thanks so much, Lorell 🙂
Thanks Lorell 🙂
I have already purchased your visualization package, how do I add my previous purchases to your new iPhone app. Is there a code to apply
Trina Holloway
Hi Trina, there isn’t a way to add outside files to the app, unfortunately the app doesn’t work like that. Sorry about that! -Anne, GM Team
So, again confused. I thought fruit was a good choice, but dr rosedale says don’t need to eat carbs… Dark green veggies are out because I can’t have them due to genetic disorder….. Cannot get any seeds, protein powders yet – small towns don’t carry these or much anything organic. This is a struggle…
Hi Catherine,
Fruit is okay to have – particularly if you are limited with other choices – (however it is best eaten and not juiced – due to the sugars). What you should aim for are foods that are as close to their natural form. Even better if you can source these natural foods locally – so that they are as fresh as possible. If you are not able to eat dark green veggies then just have as many of the other coloured veggies as you can. As far as seeds and protein powders are concerned you can get these online – a lot of our members do – you can purchase them from websites like Amazon. However, if you do not want to do this, do not worry, just do the best you can. If you are having a good source of protein, Omega 3’s (and there are lots of foods that you get these from – Sardines, Salmon, Walnuts, even Basil ) and live foods with each meal – you will be doing great. This is not an exact science – where you will fail if you do have everything – its more a case of using the information we have given to find what works for you to give you optimal nutrition and wellbeing. If you have local farms where you can purchase their products directly from them – you will already be miles ahead of us ‘city folk’!
Den 🙂
Hello all. I am still pretty new to the GM. I have been able to implement many of the suggestions Jon has made. I feel that it is working and can feel changes both physically and mentally. I am traveling now and dealing with a difficult family situation. Despite all of that I have been able to do the visualizations, take enzymes, make solid food choices the vast majority of the time… My question is, is it normal to fluctuate between being full of energy and being extremely tired. Is there something I can do to level that out? Am I doing something to trigger the exhaustion?
Hi Mary,
Often when we change our diet we can experience some detox symptoms which can have us feeling tired at times. Listen to your body and when you are tired be sure to get extra rest. Keep up with the visualizations and drinking water and support yourself with extra rest… maybe even a hot epsom salt bath.
I am also quite tired right. I am overwhelmed at all the suggestions so much so that it almost stops me in my tracks. Is the Johnny greens with the robotics that you add water or juice to on the website the best thing to do?
Hi Gretchen,
Take a deep breath.
The most important thing to start with is the visualizations.
Which I am doing. Thank you.
What about the johnny greens that you use with juice or water are these recommended for the morning breakfast
I’m feeling very discouraged. I can’t seem to get a handle on all the things we are supposed to be doing. I can’t do the evening visualizations because I fall asleep with headphones on (which interrupts my sleep a bit later) and listening without headphones bothers my husband. I can’t get the morning visualization in because I jump out of bed and run around getting kids up and ready for school, and don’t have that luxury of laying in bed for 20 minutes listening to it. I had been juicing for a month but stopped now because I found out I was doing it all wrong. I went to the store and picked up many of the ingredients in the cookbook and on the week 1 checklist, but can’t get motivated to do the cooking because I’m exhausted, anxious, frustrated and overwhelmed. I bought nuts that I feel like I shouldn’t eat because they haven’t been activated but I don’t have a food dehydrator. I bought flax seeds and chia seeds but don’t have any way to grind them. I tried apple cider vinegar in water and found it revolting. I tried lemon juice but found out yesterday I shouldn’t be using it because it’s got preservatives and I didn’t buy any fresh lemons. I still haven’t listened to Thursday’s video by Dr. Rosedale and had to leave early from yesterday’s video because of my three kids having homework and karate, etc etc. I feel like I’m going backwards. I’m more stressed and anxious about everything I’m not able to do than before I started. Is this normal? It certainly doesn’t seem to jive with everyone else and their posts about feeling internal shifts and such. sigh…
Tricia, I think probably everyone here can remember at least one time in their lives that sounds exactly like yours. I’m just another class member feeling my way through it too, but I’d suggest just trying to add one or two things instead of overwhelming yourself with them all.
For instance, even if you drink just plain water (which is what I’m starting with), it’s still an improvement over what you’ve done before.
I fall asleep in during the evening visualizations, too, but I arrange it so that when I become semi-conscious enough to realize they’re still in, I can just slip them out and let them dangle from my night stand (I use ear buds). Keep trying to find a way to get the morning visualization in — it sounds like you really can use the calmness in your life!
Hi Tricia,
Firstly – the way you are feeling is actually quite normal. Thanks to Meagan for her advice – she is spot on. Rather than trying to do everything at once, just try to add one thing at a time. The most important being the Visualisations. If the evening one isn’t working for you to go to sleep to – perhaps listen to it before you go to bed – or just as you hop into bed – before you try to go to sleep. Some of our members actually find this works better for them. In regards to the morning one – there are two suggestions – First is what I started doing in my own household – I am a mother to two boys aged 7 and 10, and I get where you are coming from (LOL) – however, I made it a rule in the house that after morning cuddles and a chat with both of them, they were to leave me alone for 10 minutes for some ‘me’ time. Yes there was initial resistance and a few days of constant interruptions – but eventually they understood and left me alone for those 10 minutes. It is now just normal procedure and they know what to do without me even asking. Its important as mothers that we take time out for ourselves in order for us to be able to give as much as we do. Second option is simply to do your morning visualisation later in the morning. I’m not sure which will work for you – but I hope one of these will help.
I’m not a fan of Apple Cider Vinegar in water either – but I actually like it as a salad dressing – see if this works for you too. Don’t worry if you don’t have lemons – just have warm water – and this will still be a great way to start the day. If the nuts are not activated and you don’t have time to do this – that is fine – don’t worry – you will still get some nutrition from them. You also don’t need a dehydrator – just turn your oven onto the lowest setting and keep the door open – this is just as effective.
I’m not sure what was wrong about the juices you were having – but if you enjoyed them – perhaps keep making them as you were and gradually make some changes – rather than starting from scratch.
You can grind flax seeds using a mortar and pestle if you don’t have a food processor. Chia seeds can be soaked – you can either just put a couple of teaspoons in your water (leave them for about 10 minutes before drinking) or you can make them into a pudding. Chia seed pudding actually makes a great breakfast – 1/4 cup chia seeds, 1/2 cup almond milk or coconut water, leave to soak (stirring occasionally – while you make the kids lunches and breakfasts) and then when the seeds are a pudding consistency – just add some nuts and fruit.
However, if this is all too much… don’t worry, just try to do the visualisations each day, and once you stop feeling so overwhelmed, try adding one or two of these other things into your routine.
Keep us posted.

Tricia ,I recognize a lot about your post .When I started first at GM ,I am on it already for some years and did not loose weigth, but all the time I just knew deep down that this is the way to get a healthy life. I started coaching with one of the GM coaches and not until now I am able to realy start the GM that is why I enrolled. There was just too much stuff attached to my weight . And some time it is still stress ,big part of me want this and get healthy but there is also this little part that is scared stiff to “loose “the buddy that kept me safe all these years and that buddy needs to understand that we can still be best friends in a slim form and the buddy is the weight on my body . I need to loose about 90 kg .And know it is time to let go . I had tons off excuses not to start or avoid painful memories . Try to go to the part that says “no I do’nt want this ” acknowledge it and understand it and most of all be kind to it . . Do’nt forget that the weight for may of us was our life jacket ,and we need to trust on the fact that we can realy swim on out own . That was the biggest part for me . Know that you are not alone in this .
Thanks for sharing Mylou 🙂
Thanks for sharing, Mylou…
Wow Den!!!!! Fantastic response to Tricia. You also addressed some of my questions and concerns. One of my questions is someone said you can by activated nuts. Are these dry roasted? Thanks so much.
Hi Gretchen,
Activated nuts should not be roasted. They should be raw nuts that have been soaked and then dried.
Even though I am overwhelmed with information and the newness of all of this, I have to say how much of a change I feel in just 1 1/2 weeks. I am adding Jon’s recommendations in slowly, am doing fruit smoothies with protein and fruit for breakfast, soaking-drying and snacking on raw nuts, eating greens with each meal, eating more eggs for protein and lean meats now and then. Using Ghee for cooking. Using approved oils for salad dressings. Working full time limits my abilities to prep for more change, but I am diving in this weekend to do more.
Long story short, I weighed this morning and have lost 4 pounds without dieting!!! I am looking at food differently with all the new knowledge – and am recognizing when something has no value. Then it’s my choice to eat it, along with a bunch of good stuff!!
More to come, but thank you thank you thank you.
What amazing feedback – congratulations on making so many big steps for your health in this short time. You’re inspiring all of us here 🙂 -Anne, GM Team
Hi Jon, my sister Julie Wilsonand her husband Dave (English couple) came to your last retreat in New York and absolutely loved every minute. They introduced me to your program and I am really enjoying it. Last night after the class you spoke about people having physical side effects as their gut heals or gets used to the new food program. This last week I have been experiencing back ache, around my waist level and radiating down. Could this be because of the intake of so much live food etc. it hadn’t occurred to me until last night. Do I need to do anything or just wait it out.
Hi Lynne,
Thanks for the lovely feedback – so happy that you are enjoying the program.
The back ache could possibly be a side effect of healing but perhaps get it checked by your doctor just to be sure. If it is just a side effect of your gut healing – eventually things will settle down.
Kind regards
Den

Hi Jon,
During this program, I am going to spend a week with my parents, how do I stay on program? I almost didn’t join this program because of it.
Also, my husband regularly gets home from work after 7pm and then we eat, I keep hearing that you should have at least 3 hrs from dinner until bed. I rarely get this, any suggestions?
Hi Lorell,
You can do this 🙂 Some ideas-
Download the visualizations so you can have them with you while you’re away. Listen to the Evening Visualization every night before bed, and start your day with the Morning Visualization if you can. If you are finding stresses or challenges from being at home with your family, add a mid-afternoon visualization as well.
Bring healthy foods with you so you have nutritious snacks at the ready- nut and seed based snacks, veggies and fruits, kale chips, hummus, etc. If your parents don’t have healthy options to eat, you may want to do a small shopping for yourself for the week when you first arrive. You may want to introduce them to some new dishes- try the Recipe Book here as inspiration!
https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/erecipebook
Remember that we’re all about adding here, not restricting- if there are family foods that you feel are not the best for your health journey, before meals make sure to have a big glass of water, have water as your drink during the meal, begin the meal with a nice salad for yourself (even if other folks aren’t having salad :), and add the Big Three whenever you can. Remember it’s ok to say no to dishes or ingredients that you don’t want, or to have small portions of things.
Make sure to take time for yourself during the trip, get out in the sun, take walks, etc.
The point with evening eating is not to eat too close to bed if you can. We don’t have set rules about hours (we’re not big on diet-style rules in general 🙂 If you’re not snacking continually in the hours leading up to bed, that’s helpful. You can also eat differently than your husband- perhaps your main meal is your mid-day meal and you could eat a smaller meal when you eat with him in the evening?
I hope this helps, and maybe other members here can offer their suggestions too?
Have a great time with the family!
-Anne, GM Team
Thank you. I was planning on taking my ipod with me for the visualizations, I enjoy doing this am & pm. I also was planning to take Garden of Life RAW Organic Green Super Food (choc) packets and having it daily (this is the one Jon had at Omega). I am going to activate some almonds this week to take also.
I will try to follow some of the other suggestions also.
Hi Jon
I am really hoping that this is the answer for me. I am 49 and have been over weight to varying degrees since I was about 14. I currently have over 110lbs to loose. I am in the UK so can not make any of the live lectures or Q&A session but I do have some questions. You talk a bit about constant hunger, blood sugar highs and lows etc. I have been trying to eat a Paleo style diet but still with dairy for about 2years so although I don’t know what my blood sugar/insulin levels are I don’t get cravings and am not really very hungry. Do you think I can still loose weight with your method? I will try to add more omega 3 and some green juice but most other things I am already doing. I did loose weight (40lbs) when I went primal but that has all come back. Specifically I want to know if I should reintroduce breakfast, I am not hungry in the morning and can easily go till lunch without snacking at all. I would be really grateful for your help. I am enjoying the visualisations and am feeling quite positive.
With many thanks
Susan
Can someone help me please. I tried listening to the Ron Rosedale session, and I tried several times, but there was an echo all through the session both of Jon’s voice and Dr Rosedale’s. It was impossible to listen to. has anyone else had this problem?
I am having the same problem. Also I wanted to go back to where I was in the video from previous viewing, can’t do that either. Help someone?
No I listened to it a few hours ago,no problem
Well, believe it or not, click the Stop button (bottom left of the video) and the echo will stop. You’ll actually see the triangular Play button, which usually is the signal to start the video. But “stopping” the video clears the echo.
There’s obviously something playing in the background that seems to have nothing to do with the actual video playing (I think).
Yes, Nancy, you’re right! Thanks for that tip. It was driving me crazy and impossible to listen to. Thank you.
Hi all,
Thanks for alerting us, our tech team fixed the audio issue earlier today. Should be clear for you all now! Apologies for the inconvenience. -Anne, GM Team
Hi Jon, How many tablespoons of chia oil do I need to take daily and should it be taken with meals?
If I have an iodine deficiency, what should I do?
Hi Cher,
No need to regulate how much chia oil you have. A few tablespoons a day is fine. Chia oil is nice to add to salad dressings or in your smoothies.
For iodine, seaweeds are great (try dulse or nori) and you can also have some sea salt.
Hello Jon,
Let me first say that after reading your book over the holidays and nurturing myself the first week on the program, I know it is the real deal. I can already feel it is working! I think my ideal weight would be about 50-75 pounds less, but I guess my body will tell me 🙂 The 5 pounds I’ve been wanting to see disappear all of January, are now gone in less than a week. The visualizations are amazing!!! I find so much comfort, acceptance, and support in your voice and messages. If I start “rationalizing” or doubting myself, I just put on my headphones and silence the inner-critic. Thank you for that!
There is, however, one block… I am told I look much younger than my actual age, but now with the weight loss I fear loose skin and wrinkles 🙁 In your book and visualizations you say to see yourself in your most ideal shape, no matter how crazy the vision. Clearly, you became the beautiful vision of yourself, but is this really possible/realistic? I don’t want to feel the disappointment when I don’t measure up to my vision… Is this my body protecting me with the sabotage? How do I cope and keep going?
Thank you,
Anja
Hi Anja,
I hope you have had a chance to listen to Week 2’s Core Class as Jon answered this question directly. You will continue to look younger than your age as the health and vitality from within will show through your skin, hair and eyes. Its possible your body is in self-protection mode. The best solution at the moment is to continue with the visualisations – even if you don’t feel like you are taking it all in.
I hope this helps. Keep us posted.
Den
Thank you very much, Den, for reply and thank you for asking my question during the lesson. I heard Jon’s response and, once again, it was profound and made perfect sense 🙂
I don’t know if I am the only one that is feeling this way, but I am a bit overwhelmed. It seems like this should be offered two ways, one for those new to Jon’s teachings and one for those more advanced. I have eaten what I have eaten my whole life, and change takes time. I can’t overnight change everything – that seems destined to fail. While I am incorporating many of the suggestions, and will continue to do so, I am a bit lost with all the questions and discussions on things I’ve never done, and some never heard of. I guess I just keep learning from the weekly presentations and do it my own way, in time. It is a lot to digest, no pun intended. Feeling frustrated but hopeful.
I’ve been where you are and remember your frustration about it being too much to learn. This is a journey. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Try not to compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to you and CELEBRATE your victories, no matter how big or small. You are not alone here.
Thank you so much Debra. Your words are what I am trying to do, knowing it is a process, a journey as you say. Will keep going forward!
Hi Patricia, congratulations for being here and for starting to make changes for your health. You definitely don’t need to do everything at once- this program is yours forever and you can and should incorporate things one by one. You’re right that lasting change takes time. If you can start with simply listening the the evening visualization each night, and watching/listening to all the classes each week, you can return to the rest at any point and when you feel ready. Don’t overwhelm yourself- pick what you feel ready to start to change, add more when you feel ready. You can do this! 🙂 -Anne, GM Team
Hi, there are few things I’d like to ask/mention;
First of all, I find quite frightening the thought of throwing my scale away and not knowing how much I weight. Any supportive advice on how to deal with it?
In regards of accepting my body, 2 things; my hips and thighs are disproportionately larger than the rest and find difficult to believe I will get the shape I desire; also, have severe cellulite in those areas, which contributes to make that even harder.
On the other hand, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome which has had an impact on two fronts; one, I’ve been on anti-depressants&anti-anxiety pills (high level of toxicity) for 5 years now, in order to be in a better place and make sure I get proper night sleep however, that seems to be on the mend and within the next couple of weeks doc’s will be looking at start reducing dose!! Life and emotional stresses such as energy levels, being able to provide for myself, hobbies and exercising, socialising, financial dependancy, career assessment,.. are something else which might be better to wait until week 3…?
Hi, Rosa. I’m another class member in about the same boat as you — been obese for so long I can’t really imagine change being possible, on anti-depressants for years now, etc.
This is how I look at it: I’m listening to the Visualizations and don’t have to really feel like I believe it yet. I’ve been feeding myself negative thoughts for so long it’s going to take a while to undo that. It’s going to take hearing the positive many, many times before I really believe it. That being said, even with my still-doubting outlook, I can tell it’s beginning to change my thought processes. Don’t stress about how long it will take things to change, just be glad you’re going in a different direction!
I like your reply Meagan… I think you are onto the right idea. And the thing is you can’t fake it.. you can’t pretend that you believe it.. because you can’t lie to your body. I took a picture of myself and I photocopied it bigger and then I cut it out to the shape that I want to be. Then I stuck it onto some paper and corrected some of the things that look weird.. ie.. my arms resting on thin air on either side of my body. I had fun with this process. Ok, losing the double chin is a challenge but you just cut off the head and cut round your face until it’s the shape you want it to be. I was amazed at the difference this made to me.. because it’s an actual picture of me- not some of an idealised model in a magazine. Try it and have fun. Make many photocopies so that you can try again if you mess up and look weird. Have fun!!
Maybe a couple of tips that will work for you? 1) Take your measurements. A change in measurements and how you feel in your clothes is one way to back away from the scale. 2) For some reason, a study was done and most of us weigh less on Thursday mornings. Go figure? Maybe back off to weighing once a week. I’d pick Thurdays! 🙂
Hi Rosa,
Visualisations are the best suggestion for helping to ease your stress at the moment. Try not to think about weight loss but rather improving your health and wellbeing. Meagan’s advice is really great. It has been said that if you do something new for 21 days it becomes a habit – so even if you don’t believe it just continue to go through the motions. You will soon start to notice some positive effects which will inspire and motivate you even more.

Hi Jon
What do you think about a liver detox? I have done it a few times before and I feel amazing afterwards. It doesn’t involve not eating (except for the afternoon of the detox). Basically eat raw or cooked veggies for 3 days before with absolutely no fat (to build up bile in gall bladder) and then on day 3 after an afternoon fast.. take epsom salts and then a solution of olive oil and grapefruit and then your gall bladder throws out all the liver and gallstones. and then it’s done. What do you think of this?
Hi Erica,
I have done this type of liver detox many times and find them great!
I would caution you to do this with someone who understands the process and can help you through it.
Please can we have Jon’s thought on Xylitol.
Hi Maria,
Jon no longer recommends xylitol; it has been found to cause digestive problems for some people.
-Anne, GM Team
Hi Maria,
I will add my thoughts by saying that xylitol is a highly processed sugar alcohol that I don’t believe our body recognizes as food. I like to use things in as close as possible to their whole natural state and xylitol is certainly not that. When we ingest things that are not real food our body has to struggle to understand and process it and it can also lead to health issues. Xylitol can lead to digestive distress in some.
Hi – I woke up this morning to find I was out of Fresh Lemons! So I had a choice of Apple Cider Vinegar (with preservatives and non- organic ) or Lemon Juice out of a bottle – same deal preservatives and not organic! In case like this – is it better to skip the morning drink or have it with the preservatives. Is it more important to balance PH or get rid of the toxins?
Hi Leeanne,
In this case do your morning water with a tiny pinch of sea salt and then go and get yourself a big bottle of raw organic apple cider vinegar and some lemons so you will always have these.
Avoid preservatives whenever you can.
I admit I’m an nutritional nightmare between what I can’t eat (dark green leafy veggies) and what I really can stand to eat (e.g., any fish). Anything that would provide the needs we get from the veggies?
Hi Catherine,
Think of ways to ‘sneak’ in the green and the good stuff in ways that you will still enjoy.
For example, you can make a smoothie with almond milk, frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, chia seeds and a handful of dark green leafy greens. You won’t even taste the greens! This will taste like a strawberry milkshake but you are still getting the greens in.
Another idea is to cut up greens into small shreds and then plate any meal you are having on a bed of greens. Because the greens are cut up small you will get some in with every forkful of food and they will blend in with the tastes of the rest of your meal.
Take Gabriel Greens which are spirulina capsules and also make use of a good green powder (like Green Me Up Johnny) as well as ‘sneaking’ in the live greens.
Keep up with your visualizations and drinking water and in time you may find you like greens more and more.
If you don’t like fish, use other proteins. And use chia seeds/oil and flax seeds/oil on your meals.
I thought we weren’t supposed to combine fruits and greens in our smoothies? Am I wrong?
Hi Patricia,
In your smoothies it is okay. When you are making a green juice you want to use mostly or all greens and just a few, if any fruits.
It’s not that I don’t like them… Can’t have dark green leafy’s at all due to genetic disorder. Do the capsules affect vit k levels like regular greens? That’s the issue.

I am under tremendous stress this week, and still tend to have some form of chocolate a day. Is there anything that can help me with this? Also, are we allowed Perrier water, as I mix it with plain water to drink 2-3 litres per day. Thanx so much!
Hi Jacqie,
Raw chocolate is the way to go! You can buy raw cacao in powder or whole bean form and you can also buy raw cacao butter. These things can easily be made into the most amazing tasting raw chocolates!
Check out Jon’s videos here on making these –> https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/chocolate/
And here some other raw chocolate ideas –> http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/healthy-chocolate.html
I think of Perrier and other carbonated water as a nice treat. Drink regular water mostly and have that every now and again… great that you mix it with plain water when you have it!
Hi Jon and Team,
This week is on digestion. Could you please go into detail regarding the special dietary/nutritional needs of those of us without gall bladders? When mine was removed, I was sent home after being told I wouldn’t have to change anything as far as my diet was concerned. I never believed it, but had no idea what to do about it.
Thanks so much!
Hi Sue,
This sounds like it would be a good topic to speak with Jon about if possible. Can you possibly call in at one of the live sessions this week?
-Anne, GM Team
Hi Sue,
A good digestive enzyme that contains bile would be helpful. I would also recommend eating smaller meals more often rather than big meals.
Thank you! I ended up working overtime every night this week and could not get on either of the sessions. This week was what I felt was the most important week for me. And now I can’t even access the core class! It says that Youtube can’t play it for some reason. That darn Mr. Murphy (of Murphy’s Law fame) lives with me, I swear! Grrrrr……
Is this really a Youtube glitch? or do you think there’s something on my end that might be keeping me out of the video… (I’ve tried deleting my history and it still won’t play.)
Hi – looks like it’s self-hosted and not on YouTube. So I would suggest making sure Adobe Flash is updated in your browser. I mentioned it here before, but my playback problems were fixed once I updated Flash last week or the week before. Also, this used to be an old fix, but try right-clicking on the video, click on Settings, and UNcheck the box that says enable hardware acceleration.
Is the reason for not juicing carrots, beets and fruit, because of the potential sugar rush or that juicing alot of them (more than you would normally eat) is too high calorically.? There is a lot of goodness in veggies like these and it would be nice to get their nutrients through juicing.
I don’t get a sugar rush from juicing them and was thinking the benefits outweighted the drawbacks (i.e. sugar rush).
Please comment.
Hi Christine, you’re correct, carrots, beets, fruit etc all have a high sugar content as compared to green veggies. Aim for as “green” a green juice as you can! 🙂 Feel free to use spices to change up the flavors.
-Hope this helps,
Anne, GM Team
So now I am getting mixed messages. The juice master guy, the one in the films, who is the author of 7 lbs 7 days recommends juices that are loaded with fruit, including 1/4 pineapple and 4 apples in one drink. Why does one juice expert recommend fruit and another not?
I don’t have a problem with “green” flavor. I just want to maximize the nutrients I am getting by juicing a variety of veggies which include carrots, beets etc.
Hi Christine, you’ll get much more nutrients and energy from a green juice, made primarily of dark leafy greens, than from the more sugary carrots and beets. Fruits are really high in sugar so you want to limit those as much as possible in your green drinks.
Hope this helps!

I’d also be interested why xylitol is now out of favor. We won’t have it in the house anymore even though I really like it because it is so dangerous to my animals. We almost lost 2 dogs who ate something I had made with it. $3000 later they are doing fine but it was scary. I feel deprived without it and knowing why it’s no longer good would help.
Hi Bonnie – what happened to your animals? I’ve used Xylitol for many years and now I’m perturbedt to hear that it’s not recommended and I can’t understand why.
When the animal ingests it they go hypoglycemic. their blood sugar drops fast – they go into convulsions, coma then death. They had to be hooked up to an IV with glucose and monitored all the time for the next 36 hrs. Liver problems can also result – mine did not thankfully. One of my dogs is a “counter surfer” and loves food soooo….”they” say our pets take after us.
Hi Bonnie,

When we ingest things that are not real food our body has to struggle to understand and process it and it can also lead to health issues. Xylitol can lead to digestive distress in some.
Since Xylitol has fallen out of favor as a sweetener, what substitution do you recommend for the recipes in the cookbook? Volume measurement with coconut palm sugar appears to be the same, but there also seems to be a preference for blending different kinds of sugar (since many are coconut palm sugar/xylitol combos). Stevia measurements aren’t equivalent & it also comes in so many forms!
What’s wrong with xylitol?
Hi Maria,

Hi Meagan,
In recipes I would urge you to to taste and add sweeteners according to your palate. Experiment and see what works for you.
For stevia, I recommend using only the dried leaf powdered down… this will be a green powder which is the stevia leaf and nothing else added.
Do you need to take a digestive enzyme every time you eat anything (like a small snack) or is it only for when you eat a meal?
Also, for the recipes in the cookbook – if you don’t have almond butter or ghee, is it okay to use regular butter?
Hi Tricia,
No need to take enzymes every time you eat something. Take two at the start of your bigger meals of the day.
Get the best butter you can; raw organic grass fed.
A naturopath that I had seen a few years ago told me to avoid soy products. She said that soy was extremely harmful hormonally to women and children and to avoid it at all costs – even check ingredients to make sure things had no soybean oil in them, which has been a challenge. I’ve noticed that your cookbook does use soy products. Does that mean you think soy is okay?
Hi Tricia,
I agree with your naturopath.
That being said, fermented soy is much better to have. This is tempeh, miso and natto. When soy is fermented it doesn’t have the same estrogenic properties.
Received my first ever hemp protein powder from Amazon and made the Choc Banana Shake for breakfast. (Never been a fan of whey protein. And pea protein? I’ve used it but it doesn’t taste good to me.)
The hemp protein powder? Where have you been all my life? Thank you Jon and Co. for the recommendation!! Great shake, too, btw.
Wonderful Debra!!! Enjoy!
Hi Jon,
Couple of odd questions
1. Wicked emotional roller coster, although today seems ok and oddly enough my hips were killing me when I would wake up. One of my friends said that we hold most of our emotional baggage there and and the meditating is probably releasing it. I do know when I go to yoga and do a lot of hip openers the instructor has basically said the same thing, with a warning that if we start crying at a traffic light now we know why.
2. Past couple of days no pain in my hips but my stomach feels like I have been doing crunches all night. No more hip pain and I am back to my happy self.
Are these usual experiences?
Thanks
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I have not heard of these sorts of experiences, but everyone is different and reacts differently to dietary changes. It is possible that these symptoms of your body detoxing both emotionally and physically. However, if they continue it would be a good idea have the symptoms checked by your doctor.
Kind regards

The recipe book calls for raw, sprouted protein powder. Is there more information on what this means? Does that mean any sprouted protein, like hemp or rice? Or is this referring to a more generic type?
No pretty much any type of protein powder that’s raw and preferably sprouted. Could be rice, hemp, pea ect
Hey Guys.. I have asked lots of questions below that have not been answered yet. Please please can you answer my questions.
Regards
Erica
working one it!
LOL 🙂
Thanks 😉
Can we use hemp seed hearts in addition to chia & flax seeds? Hemp hearts are also a good source of protein & omega 3, they don’t have to be soaked or ground making them more easily digested. Plus they have a nice nutty taste when they are sprinkled on a salad or a main dish.
Yea. They’re a bit higher in omega 6’s, so I prefer chia seeds. But still really good.
i saw Dr. Hyman Blood sugar solution program on a program. I have been drinking his shake in the morning. protein powder, almond milk, tblspn of pumpkin seeds, Chia seeds, hemp seeds, tblspn of almond butter and coconut oil, and a little lemon w/skin. fills me up till lunch. how do you feel about this drink for the digestion?
It’s a good one!
Jon mentioned in the Q&A that he doesn’t make his own juices anymore -that he prefers to buy them. He suggested Garden of Life brand. I’ve looked online, but see about 5 different varieties of them and don’t know which one he is referring to. Their “greens” version doesn’t actually seem to have anything other than grasses. It doesn’t seem like that’s the right one. Can you advise please?
Hi Tricia – I have notes from that same question – it was the Primal Defense probiotic from Garden of Life that he likes, although it has to be refrigerated. And that he gets his juices from juice bars like at Whole Foods.
You’re right. He was talking about a probiotic. I’m still trying to figure out what kind of “green” powder to get. Any suggestions?
the Vega one , I buy it here in Holland through their Dutch GM store , It will be here in the GM store too I guess
oh forgot and in this shake add te greens like “green me up Jonny “or the one from “Garden of life “or any other brand that is good and you can find
The garden of life products I was referring to are super greens, not green juices. There’s a difference. The super greens are a powder. I like garden of life’s raw super greens. I also like our brand of green me up jonny.
Jon – I thought the super greens were powders that you added to water to make a green juice? I’m new to this so likely getting my terms confused. I looked up garden of life’s raw super greens and the reviews were awful – people said it was unpalatable and disgusting. Would you say your green me up jonny is easier to handle? Or can you recommend a brand that might be a good starting point? And if the goal is not to make these into a green juice, is there a pre-made green juice that you like? Thanks
Hi Tricia,
They are 2 different things. Super greens are powdered versions of green supplement, you can add water to them to make a drink. They are particularly useful when you’re on the go, don’t have access to a juicer, are travelling, etc.
Green juices are made from fresh green veggies, you can make them yourself, you can also buy them at a juice place. You don’t really want ones that sit on a supermarket shelf as they have less nutrients- ideally green juices are consumed the same day they are made. You’ll find some juice recipes in Jon’s recipe book, in the resource library:

Hi Jon and everyone, I’m Estelle from Australia. Weight gain is my nemesis. Each time there was an increase in stress in my life, there was an increase in weight. On the way to 60kg overweight, I’ve collected a number of health problems: insulin and leptin resistance, irritable bowel, damaged digestion, thyroid insufficiency, sleep apnoea, fibromyalgia, migrating arthritis, heart problems. I even became a natural therapist to help myself, and to my shame I couldn’t shift my weight. I understood the process of losing weight but it just wasn’t happening. After listening to one of Jon’s guest speakers, I discovered my wounds of shame, humiliation, frustration, helplessness, panic, disappointment that I’d hidden away from an unkind world. I’m doing Jon’s program, especially for the visualizations, with the goal of healing these wounds. However, and this is my question, on the first day of doing the morning visual I had a massive pain/release on my spine which set off a fibromyalgia pain focus in my neck and shoulders. Is this part of the healing process? If it is, I’m likely to have a painful road ahead. Is there another way?
It could very likely be part of the healing process and also indicate that your fibromayalsia is largely triggered by emotional pain. This is very common. But just to be sure, if you have any questions, please see your doctor.
Hello Jon, GM Team and NYNY fam!!
Hope everyone is doing well.
I have been having a few weird things going on and I wanted to ask Jon’s (or the team’s) opinion.
I learned about the GM last year and I “tried” it out and was not very successful. So a few months ago in utter frustration I stuffed my scale in a closet and started a daily meditation practice (nothing specific just seeking a connection to the universe). I decided I was going to stop thinking about my weight as a number and more how I feel and what I am putting in my body, but I wasn’t quite sure where to start. So last week (2 days before the program started) I found out about NYNY and decided to sign up. I started with the evening mediation and didn’t really feel much different but as soon as I started the morning meditation I noticed an internal shift – not really something i can explain but something was happening. and over the past 2 days i have had a decrease in cravings for sweets and today i came home from a walk and felt a strong undeniable urge to have a salad. (soooo not like me!). So my question is – Does all of this mean I am on the right track? should I just continue what I am doing and the gradual introduction of more live foods and trust my body? Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?
Hi Ameenah!
Wow!! What an amazing reaction you have had! In answer to your question – Am I on the right track? YES!
Should I just continue what I am doing and trust my body? YES!
You started this process when you hid your scales and decided to think in terms of your health rather than the number on the scales, and started meditating daily. The morning visualisation has obviously resonated deeply with you too!
Just keep doing what you are doing, don’t think too far ahead, and continue adding all the positives. Soon it will become habit and everything will be seamless. Please keep us posted!

I’m having a lot of trouble changing my food. I was excited about juicing and have been doing it for a month, but then found out this week that I am adding too many things in it that are bad for me, but don’t have any of the ingredients that were recommended. It has stopped me cold. I feed a family of five, and am having a hard time changing the foods we eat as my three growing boys eat a lot of starches and carbs, which I am still craving. I tried adding a green salad to everything, and am already sick of salad. We also eat out a lot – three active boys means a lot of evenings out and getting a quick meal in between activities. We don’t eat fast food, but we do typically eat in places where I don’t have a ton of choices for healthy fats and live greens. All of this is resulting in my first week not resulting in any positive food changes at all. Can you help me make some inroads, even with just baby steps? Any suggestions are welcome – even from other members. Thanks
I understand the money, budgeting aspect. Do what you can. They are recommending ‘crowding in’ small changes to start. Drink more water (free). Sprinkle some ground flax seed on your food. Walk 10 mins. a day, adding a minute a day (free). Listen to the visualizations (you’ve already paid for these).
Then, slowly, add in some other things like supplements as you can work them into the budget. Maybe make a single recipe or two a week. The breakfasts are pretty doable.
Please don’t have an “all or nothing attitude about health” just do what you can when you can. This is about healing your mind and body and making it easier for your body to let go of weight. No need to throw in the towel if you don’t have a few ingredients and no need to do everything perfectly. Just do what you can do. It will make all the difference in the world.
Jon,
How do you feel about cooking in the microwave?
Thanks,
Judy
Very much against it as it destroys the food and renders it toxic and indigestible.
Hi Jon,
When I am having yogurt in the morning I often use berries that have been in the freezer if I am out of non frozen fruit. Does it still count as fresh/ raw for my meal?
Thanks
Yea it’s still good. You might want to experiment with coconut yoghurt though, as pasteurised dairy can be inflammatory.
No matter how many times I unclick the “Notify me” box below, I still get notifications.
What am I doing wrong?
Me too!
I think that only applies to that question and not all of them. I haven’t figured out a way to stop the emails and just read the questions here on the member’s page.
I’ve been going through the recipes. A lot of egg recipes, and I’m allergic to both egg yolks and whites. Easy to tell me to eliminate the egg recipes (and of course, I will), but that cuts out a lot of recipes, especially breakfast recipes.
Any suggestions other than smoothies and green juices? I’m not a fan in the cold of winter. Or ‘dinner for breakfast?’ I love smoothies and green juices in the spring/summer, but need some ideas to get me through the next 6 weeks or so. Thanks!
I answered my own question while looking at Julie Daniluk’s Quinoa Porridge recipe. Even bought her cookbook.
That’s great to hear – thanks for sharing!
🙂
Just a quick question. When I signed up I was asked if I wanted to buy the recipe book and I said I would. Now I find it is included in the program. Can I get a refund on my purchase?
I am really enjoying the program. I was fascinated listening to Dr Ron Rosedale and have lots of questions as a result of this. It seems a bit of a shame we don’t have a weekly summary of the topics so that we can come to terms with some of the information.
My question about Dr Rosedale and the information in the program is this. I understand that you are getting us to change our eating habits, to go for good, healthy wholesome food which will enable leptin and all the other hormones to work better and that when our body is ready the leptin will work to lessen our demand for food and decrease our appetite. But at what point (if ever) are we aiming for small amounts of protein (1g per kg of body mass). That seems to be such a small amount after using protein to replace unsuitable carbs. Will our body tell us when we are ready for this – if ever.
I hope my question makes sense.
Sue Silcox
I also purchased the recipe book so I’m curious to know the answer.
Yes please email my assistant and Den and we’ll sort it out. Sorry for the confusion on that one.
Hi Sue,
In regards to your question about the amount of protein you will be able to eat, do not worry too much about this at this stage. Eventually you will get to a stage where your body will tell you how much protein it needs – and you will able to trust this. Don’t even worry about how much or how little – this may vary from day to day depending on your body’s energy requirements. This isn’t a case of calories in and calories out – its more a case of optimal nutrition. It seems hard to believe but once all the internal healing is done and your body is getting all the nutrition it needs, you won’t need to get your energy from the unsuitable carbs. In regards to getting a refund on the Recipe Book – our apologies – please email help@thegabrielmethod.com and they will process this for you ASAP.
Kind regards

I made the sushi from the eRecipes book last night, following the instructions. The recipe did not say to cook the cauliflower rice. I found after a few pieces that I was not enjoying the sushi, as it seemed a bit hard on my stomach.
At lunch today I decided to saute the cauliflower rice until almost soft, and add toasted sesame seeds (because california roll usually has them on the outside). Well what a difference. I served it to 3 people and they could not tell that they were made with cauliflower.
If you are a sushi lover as I am, then I suggest you try this recipe and perhaps with the modifications that I made.
Thanks for the heads up. 🙂
Sounds great! I find I like it raw, but cooked cauliflower is more digestible.
Is the apple cider vinegar in the morning water beneficial for health, or is it just for flavor? Because personally I prefer my water completely plain.
Hi Tricia,
ACV is great for cleansing purposes and for its probiotic properties. It also helps to strengthen your digestive system and is supportive to your entire system by helping to alkalize your body and assisting with hydration. If you don’t like the taste use fresh lemon instead which is also great or try a lesser amount of ACV.
Mix it up… As you drink water throughout the day, have some plain and some with either lemon or ACV
How much ACV do we add to our water? I added two tablespoons to 16 ounces this morning. Thank you!
Hi Kerri,
Don’t worry too much about exact measurements – if that was too strong for you one tablespoon or even a teaspoon would be enough.
Den
Hi I posted this earlier but did not get a reply, so am posting again.
Is there an issue with having too much kale? I heard too much spinach may cause thyroid issues but is kale also a problem? What about broccoli? If so how much do you recommend per day in a green juice or smoothie? What alternatives would you suggest for a green smoothie that are reasonably cost effective and easy to find?
Also it sounds like juicing carrots and beets as well as fruit is not a good idea because of the sugar uptake. Is this only bad if you are sensitive to sugar? I juice several carrots, a bit of beet, celery, tomatoes, a bit of onion and feel no sugar reaction at all.
There do not seem to be many replies on here
Hi Christine,
It’s a good idea to always rotate your greens so that you are not having the same ones over and over. Each time you shop buy different greens.
There are some ideas on these pages for what you can use in your green smoothies and green juices:
http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/green-juice.html
http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/green-smoothie-recipes.html
Good to keep your juices mostly green.
hi Jon
I was really interested to look at your notes on exercising. I am about 18kgs overweight and have been for some time now but I am relatively fit. On a good week I do 3 x cardio (1hr swimming at pace, 1hr treadmill running/walking or 1hr Zumba and then 2 x vinyasa yoga days). I also eat really well. I have been having green smoothies (with coconut kefir, spirulina, aloe vera, spinach, banana and apple) for over 3 yrs now. I eat mostly whole foods, salads and every night dinner is cooked and mostly healthy but probably a bit too much meat. But the weight never seems to come off. Only a trickle.I took your test on Fat Triggers and it seems most of mine are Emotional and also Beliefs which is why I am so excited with your approach and for the first time I am believing that something will help with getting the weight off.
I have a few questions:
1. Your exercise formula of 20 hard exercise 40 med/ slow exercise- does this have to be followed to the letter for maximum efficiency? I did today, for example, 30 mins on the treadmill with at least 15 x hard runs (at 9.5-10kms per hour for 30 secs) and then walked in between sometimes for 30 secs, sometimes 1 minute or 2 minutes. Is that still working to maximum efficiency? Or must I follow your example to the letter? Am I over exercising by doing 30 instead of 20 mins?
2. How do you feel about fruit in the smoothies? Some people are strict about green veg only but then it makes me want to hurl.
3. I am pretty sure I don’t have sleep apnea. I am not tired during the day and I sleep at least 7 -8 hours solidly (with wee breaks but then go straight back to sleep). What else am I testing for at the doctor’s appointment?
4. I am menopausal (without symptoms) at 49 and I am just wondering if there are any special considerations in this case.
Thanks Jon, looking forward to hearing your comments and ps I am LOOOOOVING the visualisations. I took a picture of myself and cut it to resemble the figure that I want!!
Hi Erica,
Is there any way you can call in on one of the weekly ask Jon shows so I can give you the best answer possible?
jon the problem is that my time zone is GMT +3 and that places your Q & A at exactly 3am in the morning. I am figuring that waking up for a call would not be supportive for my health and wellbeing 😉 so I have been just listening to the videos afterwards (even though they have been quite poor streaming with lots of breaks in transmission- hopefully you have sorted this problem now). If you wouldn’t mind dropping me an email that would be great.
Hi Jon, team and everyone else. I am Noreen and I live in Cornwall in the UK. However, for the last few days I have been in France visiting my son. I have very poor internet connection in France and none while traveling despite buying super expensive Galaxy 4 note to facilitate this. So I will not really be starting the program until I am back home on Monday 16th. I have tried to email my concerns about this delay but have got no response. I presume I can do a catch up. I will follow where I can but I hope you will all be patient with me when I seem to be out of sync. I will also be experiencing problems with the live sessions as these seem to be taking place about 1 am UK time and it is likely I will miss most of these since I am likely to be asleep. Any advice on how to proceed will be gratefully accepted.
Each event is recorded and release sometime the next day. I had to listen to the recording of the first Q&A session and it was just as valuable as if I had been there live. And, I could pause it when I needed to.
That also alllows you to listen when you have a good internet connection! Good luck
(Some of my questions have been ignored, too, but I have sorted it out by reading other comments.)
I too have been out of town and I listed to the called afterwards. However, the most recent one with Dr. Rosedale was too difficult to listen to as the feedback/echoing was interfering greatly. Have you noticed this as well? Thank you!
Kerri I’ve listened to all the recordings because the live broadcast times don’t work for me. They all work great for me…no feedback or anything.
Hi Noreen,
You own this program – so you can access all of the information as and when you need it. It is fine to be a couple of days behind us. You are welcome to add your questions to the chat roll before each show (there is a chat box on the page of each Live Jon event) – in a more suitable time for you – and we will endeavour to have Jon answer your question during the show – so that you can hear his answer later. Hope this helps

That guest ‘lecture’ last night was really interesting. I find that my diet is carb heavy – even though I stay away from wheat and sugar, even coconut flour is a carb load. The idea that small amounts of protein and then mostly (good) fat and fiber vegetables as a diet is compelling. I ignored the fruit this morning – no apples or bananas – and had my salmon and roasted vegetables with a drizzle of olive oil. (after that disgusting apple cider vinegar in water – blech!)
Great!
Hi
I am wondering if there is a recommendation of a particular masticating juicer? I am overwhelmed with variety and choices.
Thank You
Hi Ellen,
I always say the best juicer is the one you will use. I like the twin gear masticating juicers like the green kempo or the champion.
I like John Kohlers demos and reviews at discountjuicers.com Yeah, he’s a bit of the stereotypical pitch man, but his demos are informative and help to narrow down choices. He says (at least in the US) there are different juicers for different jobs. The masticating juicers are great for juicing leafy greens, wheat grass. 🙂
I have an Omega with a 15 year warranty. Green Star is an industry standard. There are more that are of excellent quality and price points. I love my masticating juicer.
I also like the omega huron
Hi there, I’ve found the iPhone app but was wondering if there was a way of downloading the visualisations without having to pay for them?
I had to buy them. But when you use the app, it loops the recordings. Just when I’m falling asleep, it starts all over again and it wakes me up at night. I’m now playing them on my iPhone and iPad from the members area.
I love the app and that it keeps repeating and running all night, I’m hoping my brain will get the message in my sleep!!!
It’s funny how we all see things differently but bottom line is we LOVE listening to visualization. Either way you listen they are valuable.
i never thought of that! but I think waking up every 25 minutes during the night wouldn’t really work for me!
Maybe I’ll turn the volume down and give it a try.
when you download them in dropbox and add them to your favorites ,you can listen to the one you want and it just plays that one ,added to favorites you do not have to be online
Excited to be here 🙂
I’ve done the ‘famine’ diet stuff with rebound success at best.
What do you think of the red-pepper-hummus sold in US stores (e.g. Target). Is this too processed, or a reliable source of fat intake? Thanks!
jk
Hi Jeff,
Good sources of fat are flax seeds/oil, chia seed/oil, coconut oil, ghee, avocados to name a few.
Anything you buy at the store, always good to read the ingredients and ensure there are no chemical additives.
You could make your own hummus if you have a food processor, hand blender or possibly even a normal blender. The secret is to blend 1/4 C tahini, 1/4 fresh lemon juice, together first until smooth and turns sort of white (usually a couple of minutes). Then add 1/2 teas cumin, and 1/4 teas salt. Blend again. Add some roasted red peppers (usually found in a bottle or tin), blend. Then add 1 tin of drained and rinsed chick peas. Blend. Add 2 Tablespoons olive oil. Blend. Finally add about 1-2 Tablespoons water. Add gradually while blending till you get the right consistency,
You will end up with twice as much, and it will cost you 1/4 of the price. I sometimes use sun dried tomatoes in mine.
Thanks for sharing that Christine 🙂 Yum
I’m listening to the Feb 13/14 guest class with Dr. Rosedale. Trying to get the Leptin resistance stuff straight in my mind because it piqued my interest when he spoke of its relation to both thyroid levels and fertility. I have never had regular menstrual cycles and was pregnant twice but miscarried early both times. (I was not obese at that time.) I am also “on the high side of normal” on thyroid tests, which I always thought was odd because I was fat. Is there a resource to learn more about this?
Leptin is the most under talked about, misunderstood and yet most highly relevant hormone when it comes to weight and metabolism. Rosedale is good, mercola.com is a great resource and if you want to call in and talk about it on my ask jon shows I can help answer your questions.
I see the phone in session is already over… but the time says it would be 7pm EST – which is 4 PM here on the west coast… it is now 4:08… did it air an hour early?
There was no phone session today. The Live Q&A was yesterday at 4pm PST. Today was a pre-recorded class that you can watch anytime.
I can’t find the phone number to call in on…. is this live or am i late for the phone call?
The guest class for today says it will start in 3 hours and 30 minutes, but when I went to the page, the video was already there and playable. Does that mean this won’t be a “live” class with questions and answers?
Hi Tricia, the Guest Expert classes are pre-recorded. However, please feel free to ask your questions right here on this page at any time.

HI there
I am still finding the video links from this course frustratingly slow to feed. I hear about 1minute and then it starts loading again. Is there any way to listen to this without the video so that I can get a clear unbroken feed? I don’t think it’s my internet because I can watch other Youtube videos perfectly without delays.
Regards
Erica Alheit
This usually has less to do with your computer (unless your computer is really old) or their video than it does your Adobe Flash player. Make sure it’s enabled in your browser and then make sure you have the latest update. A couple of weeks ago, the exact same thing was happening to me on another site, but this resolved when I updated Flash.
Thanks Nancy 🙂

Hi Christine,
I answered to your re-post above. Pasting my answer here too:
It’s a good idea to always rotate your greens so that you are not having the same ones over and over. Each time you shop buy different greens.
There are some ideas on these pages for what you can use in your green smoothies and green juices:
http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/green-juice.html
http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/green-smoothie-recipes.html
Good to keep your juices mostly green.

Hi GM team,
It sounds like the Morning visualization and the Burn Fat are the same thing – is that supposed to be the case? Thanks
My mistake – I think the last few minutes are different
Hi Alesia, hope you enjoy the visualizations! -Anne, GM Team
Jon – I listened to your interview with Paul North last week. He said the another response to stress is the freeze mode – a person just can’t do one more thing or make one more decision. I felt that applied to my reaction to stress and would like to know if there is more that can be said about that – how to overcome it. I believe you said it resonated for you from the New York time of your life.
Thank you
Cindie
I’ve been overweight all my life…
100+ the last 10 years. Having a hard time visualizing myself thin…any ideas?
Hi Catherine, welcome. Some of our members have had great success with using another person- someone from a TV show, movie, book etc- as their “ideal body” image. Eric, who lost 165lbs (74kg), used Spartacus as his ideal body image, you can hear him talk about that here: http://thegabrielmethod.com/success-eric
Perhaps have a brainstorm in a journal, of who that might be, or simply rip a picture out of a magazine, a body that inspires you!
Hope this helps,

I realized too late that I was missing the live Q/A session. What a gift! and I totally spaced it out. So that was a wake-up call to add it to my email calendar so that I get a reminder in plenty of time to make sure I’m sitting at the computer and participating/listening.
Hi Nancy,
Adding the live classes to your calendar, and setting up reminders, is a great idea!
The archive of the live Q/A will be posted today so you’ll still be able to hear it.
Cheers,
Anne, GM Team
Where do I access the q&a from tonight? I will have to listen every week- is that going to affect how much I get out of the program?

Why have you changed your mind about xylitol. You said it was the sweetner of your choice but on Tuesday you said stevia and that you were taking xylitol out of the choices
I was wondering the same thing.
Also, is there a difference between coconut sugar and coconut palm sugar? I’ve notice that any time it’s mentioned, it’s always coconut “palm” sugar.
And what’s the difference between cacao and cocoa?
Thanks!
Hi Sue,
Cacao is raw and has not been roasted, it contains all sorts of great benefits and nutrients. You can read more about the difference in this article from our friends at Food Matters: http://foodmatters.tv/content/raw-cacao-vs-cocoa-whats-the-difference
Hope this helps!
-Anne, GM Team
Hi Sue, there is no difference, coconut sugar and coconut palm sugar are the same thing 🙂 -Anne GM Team
How much lemon or apple cider vinegar do you add to the water?
Hi Tricia,
Don’t be too worried about exact measurements – a tablespoon would be fine.

Hi there. I am struggling to access the video of the Core Class in a way that is sustainable. What happens is that the video starts and then stops and then there is like a static sound periodically and then at about 35 minutes in it has just stopped working. Its not my internet because I have checked and watched lots of other YouTube videos right after. What can i do? Is there a way to download it and not just stream it?
Also on another note, non technical, I am excited to discover all these fat triggers. It seems that the main ones for me are emotional and limiting beliefs. I know that for the last few days I have been squirming around mentally with such discomfort at the idea of doing this programme. Part of me wants it and part of me really, really doesn’t. I am almost thinking that my technical issues are caused by my deep seated resistance ;-). Unless others have experienced these issues too???
Well great than you can work on that resistance than 🙂 My link seems to work fine just in case I put ik here for you this one has goood vibes :-)https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/fat-triggers/
hmm I see that you can not follow the link ,another try
https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/fat-triggers/
This is the one that I have been using but it’s not working very well for me. Nonetheless I am muddling through and listening to it stop start. But thanks anyway 😉
Managed to listen to the whole thing with much waiting in between. All is good. I am wobbly but on board. Excited but scared. Ahhhhh!
Yes it is a fight or flight issue for me too ,I decided to surrender 🙂
Hello. I am Mary and am from Colorado. I am 50 years old and have had a life long struggle with weight. I have spent the last several years dealing with some major medical issues during which I gained even more weight. I am healthy now and feeling much better, except for the extra weight. I am very excited for this program and am loving it so far. My question: I found out this morning that I need to leave town to attend a funeral. I’ll be traveling for a little over a week. I am concerned about eating out so much and lack of control over my schedule. Do you have any advice to be able to still succeed during this time?
Hi Mary,
We’re glad to have you here. I’m so sorry for your loss. Regarding your question- first, I would suggest that you continue to use the visualization library, download them so can listen to them easily on the road. In your visualizations you can picture yourself eating live, real, nourishing food.
Second I would suggest packing as many healthy options as your travel permits, such as nut and seed based snacks, hummus, kale chips, veggies and fruits. If you pick up a supergreen supplement, you can add water to it and get a blast of nutritious goodness whenever you need. During the trip you may need to make the time for yourself to replenish your healthy food stock.
When eating out, focus on adding the Big Three to any meal as best as you can: live foods, proteins and omega 3s. Almost any restaurant will have some kind of options for those. Also, know that you’re always allowed to say no to foods or particular ingredients that your body doesn’t want, or that don’t help your health journey 🙂
I hope this helps!
-Anne, GM Team
Anne, Thank you for the information and ideas. I have been able to implement many of them. I have also listened to the Meridian tapping video a couple of times. It seems to be helping with the stress. Thank you for your help!

I’ve attempted to join the Facebook group as suggested. Still waiting for moderator to accept the join???
Yes, I believe that’s standard procedure for a closed group like this seems to be.

Where do I find the Donna Gates class that was mentioned in Jon’s first Core Class?
Hi Sue,
That class isn’t live yet. In the right hand navigation here you’ll see it listed in Week 2, entitled:
Guest Class: Heal Your Gut, Lose the Weight: Understanding the Role of Digestive Health in Weight Management

Hi Jon,
As water and sleep are big components of your program, I have 2 questions regarding them:
1) Do the Britta pitcher-type water filters work well enough to de-chlorinate tap water; and
2) How do I get my usual good night’s sleep (I regularly sleep well – 8 hrs.) when I drink the amount of water I need to stay hydrated? Whenever I consume that much water, I lose my good night’s sleep by having to get up to the bathroom at least once, sometimes twice before morning.
Hi Sue,
1. As far as I know Brita filters (charcoal filters) do not filter out chlorine but they are great at removing other things.
2. Stop drinking water 2-3 hours before going to bed. Drink 1-2 glasses of water first thing in the morning and throughout the day. Put lemon or raw organic apple cider vinegar into your water.
In one of the recipes it says to use “your favorite super green powder”. What is this?
A super green powder is usually a combination of powdered super foods, like wheat grass, barely grass, spirolina, chlorella, ect. I like garden of life’s raw super greens.

Why does the action steps checklist ask us to drink warm water in the mornings? I don’t particularly like warm drinks – I don’t drink tea or coffee. Is there a reason behind the water being warm instead of cold, or is that up to personal preference?
Hi Tricia,
Warm water or room temperature water is great because it is close to body temperature so that you body can make use of it right away. This is helpful for digestion, cleansing and hydration.
Have cold water if you feel to but try to get some room temperature water in as well.
Warmer and hot water with lemon is for any time you feel to have a warmer drink.
Hi Jon!
I love the visualizations! I’m having some trouble, however, with “bright white light”. When I visualize it, it seems to turn into something resembling plastic pvc material. I can visualize gold or pink or light blue, but the phrase “bright white light” create dissonance for me. What do u suggest? Thank you!
Aida, you can make the light any color that works for you, doesn’t need to be “bright white” particularly 🙂 All best, Anne, GM Team
Hello I am Tina from Michigan. I am looking forward to this program. I need to lose about 140 lbs. I don’t cook right now and get overwhelmed with planning and trying to cook for myself. Can you recommend how to transition to doing this without losing motivation. I get discouraged with all the planning and have given up in the past because of it.
I also wanted to know if taking a pre-biotic is recommended?
Hi Tina,
Create an environment in your kitchen that is fun and inviting (pictures, plants, music, flowers, clean and organized) … a place that you will enjoy being. The gathering and preparation of food is ancient in our human history and many of us have moved very far away from this not spending much time on it at all. Try to bring some of that ancient wisdom back into your days by prioritizing the importance of this and giving some well deserved time to this aspect of life.
Start slow, choose recipes that are very easy to make. Chia pudding for example ( http://www.making-healthy-choices.com/chia-seed.html ) is something you can prepare in a few minutes before you go to sleep and it is ready for you the next morning. Look at the recipes in this program’s resources and Jon’s recipe book (https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year/erecipebook/ ) and find ones that excite you and start with those.
Also continue with your visualizations and keep adding in Gabriel friendly foods, this will also help you to shift.
As for pre-biotics, many foods are considered pre-biotics and these are typically whole organic foods like dark green leafy vegetables which are certainly great to have.
You are not alone Tina. Many people who were overwhelmed by making food shifting into being very excited by it once they discovered food that made them feel great.
When will the Facebook group be up ? The link in the Resource library on this page is not working yet .
Hi Mylou, the page is up: https://www.facebook.com/groups/204490923077969/
Enjoy!

Thanks Anne it works 🙂
Hi,
I was wondering if you had looked into The Ultimate Meal, which has sprouted grains, sprouted broccoli, spirulina, and a bunch of other healthful ingredients (http://theultimatelife.net/CatalogMealBenefits.htm)? They recommend making a smoothie with almond milk, half of an organic apple and a whole organic banana, and I guess I was curious if this type of thing would elevate blood sugar.
Thanks,
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
It is fine to have fruits in smoothies as you are drinking the pulp and fibre as well as the juice – and this slows down your body’s digestion of the sugars in the fruit.
Jon prefers not to have fruit (or carrots and beets) in juices however, as juices contain no fibre to slow down the release of the sugars into the bloodstream.
The ingredients in that product sound great.
Hope this helps
Den
This reply surprised me! I just started juicing a month ago for the first time and am loving it. But I use a variation on this combo every day: spinach, carrots, beet, apple, orange. It sounds like most of the stuff in my juice are not recommended. Can you give me alternatives?
Hi Tricia,
Do mostly greens in your juices and add in 1/2 apple OR 1/4 beet OR 1 carrot just to add a little sweetness without too much sugar.
Cucumbers are great to juice with your greens as well as they tend to cut the bitterness of the greens.
Other great additions to add to the taste of your green juices are ginger, chili peppers and fennel.
Hi Jon & all, I am Pat (Patricia) from Seattle. I have struggled with weight for the past 5 years or so. Following several major traumas in life, it seems I just ran to food for comfort. Exercise diminished as I cozied in for safety and protection from anymore pain. I have dieted and stopped, dieted and failed, etc. I just turned 60 and in January I decided this year would be the year I focus on health and well being. I want to renew a vibrant life, and am finding success in other areas. If I can get this weight off I am certain I will be a new person — !!! Thank you so much for this, I am so very hopeful it will work out well.
Hi Patricia, we’re so glad you made the decision to focus on your health this year! Welcome 🙂 Anne, GM Team
Hi Pat! I’m in the same situation as you. I turned 50 recently and I just have to get a grip on my health. I have experienced similar things as you’ve expressed as well. I’m looking forward to this journey with you and the rest of this team. Happy new year! 🙂
Kerry, we can do this! I just ordered a bunch of stuff from vitacost.com and am having a great big salad for lunch 😉 Let’s support each others efforts. Life WILL get better I just know it. Take care, Pat
Hello I’m Lucinda from Colorado. Looking forward to losing this weight for the last time. I am in my mid 50’s and feel that I need to lose 25 pounds at least. I have a hard time losing weight and if I do it comes back. My problem is that when I do cardio exercises that kicks in my asthma and inevitably I get super sick. I am starting to also see arthritis affect my neck and knees. So exercise is a conundrum for me.
Hi Lucinda,
We’re so glad you’re here! Right now, focus on the Action Steps for Week 1 https://members.thegabrielmethod.com/new-you-new-year-2015/action-steps-week-1/
We’ll be getting to Fitness in Week 4, and at that point you’ll be able to learn all about how to safely and enjoyably incorporate movement. Until then, don’t worry about it 😉
Anne, GM team
This is not a question but a comment. Last week I bought chia bran from Vitacost.com in the US. I believe they also sell chia oil. I have found that no health food store in my area carries these.
Question- Did you get the fermented cocktail grape recipe I sent to Den after our 1 on 1 in January? What did you think?
Hi Lorell,
I did pass the recipe on to Jon – but am not sure if he made it as yet. Will let you know.
Nice to have you back here with us.
Den 🙂
I have some of the symptoms you listed for sleep apnea so I went to the doctor. After everything he said it is not sleep apnea. I have made several changes to be able to get more sleep. It’s better, but not great. My question is, will I still have the same problem loosing weight as people with sleep apnea?
Hi Mary,
This program works whether you are experiencing sleep apnea or not. Fantastic that you got checked.
The action steps are designed to help your body re-balance and re-align to your highest goals and work with your body’s own cellular wisdom, this happens whether sleep apnea is present at the start or not.
I had my full check-up a couple of months ago and the physician assistant referred me for a sleep study. My insurance didn’t cover that, so I pushed it aside and said I couldn’t afford it. (Don’t get me started on the health insurance situation in the U.S. 🙂 ) So I subsequently changed insurance beginning of this month (and this one covers sleep studies), and after joining this class and hearing about how important it was to fix sleep apnea, I got the impetus to Finally get this scheduled. That’s why I joined this class – so that I have a guide as to what to focus on (as well as what not to focus on), so it’s only been a couple of days and I feel a minor victory already!
That is so great to hear Nancy!
Hi Jon, Gabriel team and fellow travelers. I’ve been with the Gabriel method for awhile but hope to use the NYNY to help me focus on consistency. I am 72 and have about 110 lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight. I live in Ohio in the US. Been working hard on digestion (working with a holistic nutritionist) and thats coming along. Doing 2 visualizations a day and working on adding 3rd consistently, plus the tapping. Some break through with that. I’m feeling better than I have in the last 5 to 10 years and know the weight part will come (It has taken awhile for the “diet mentality” to lessen). I have a ways to go but look forward to interacting with many of you.
Hi Bonnie,
Sounds like you are doing some fabulous things! That is fantastic… so great to have you joining us for this program!
Jon, I would be very interested to know your view on adrenal fatigue and how this fits into the Gabriel Method. I was diagnosed with this a few years ago and have got it under some control with siberian ginseng, ashwaganda, 7 Keto etc. So at the moment it’s not bad. However my stamina and appetite for exercise is very low. The thought of exercise exhausts me because I know that my stamina is so low.
Hi Maria,
Continue to follow the action steps and keep up with the visualizations. In time your body will continue to shift and exercise will come easier. It sounds as if your system is already shifting!
I was more interested in your thoughts on adrenal fatigue and overcoming that.
Hi Maria,
Jon discussed adrenal fatigue in Week 2’s Core Class. Healing your digestion is probably the most important thing you can do at this stage.
Hope the class helped.

Hi Jon, I’ve just started the program today. My biggest challenge will be finding organic produce here in Vietnam HCMC. It is a very new experience living and working here. I can not find probiotic capsules and my mail seems to never arrive when I order online. Can you recommend alternative options? What food source provides probiotics?
Hi Susan, great to have you here. Having fresh live produce is still better than not having any, if you can’t find organic, don’t stress about it.
Regarding probiotics, great food sources include fermented vegetables: sauerkraut, sour pickles, kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage); kefir and yogurt (non-dairy coconut yogurt is great).
Hope this helps!
-Anne, GM Team
Is t hhhh e Greek yogurt you buy in the store sufficient for the probiotic
I have trouble taking supplements in pill form, so I’ve started adding flax seed oil to my green juice. Should I still add flax seeds into my diet as well, or is the flax seed oil enough?
Hi Tricia,
Yes you can still add flax seeds to your meals and you can also add chia seeds sometimes. Mix it up and do ground flax sometimes and chia seeds sometimes.
My question was more along the line of whether I need to add flax seeds when I’m already doing flax seed oil? According to the bottle, each tablespoon of oil is offering me more then double or triple the omega 3s in a typical supplement. Isn’t that enough without doing the whole seeds as well?
Hi Tricia,
Taking the flax seed oil several times per day would be enough.
Den
Hi Jon
What do you think of lactose free kefir?
Lactose free is great. I do coconut kefir and add it to my green smoothies and it’s great. Keeps me regular and moving. You can also do water kefir though I am not sure how that works as you need some sort of sugar to ferment. Otherwise there is always kombucha which is made from tea and sugar and a starter culture.
Kefirs are nice cultured drinks. If not made from animal milk they can be made from coconut water or regular water which is fine. Lactose is the sugar part of animal milk which should get used up in the process of culturing the kefir so a good kefir should technically be already free from lactose. That, being said, completely fine to make kefir from water or coconut water.
I’m on the Isagenix program. I have a shake for breakfast with 3/4 c. frozen berries or rhubarb, 1 1/2 c. organic raw kale, 1 raw free range egg, 10 raw almonds, 1 t. hulled hemp seed, 1 pkg vanilla Isagenix protein powder and water mixed in my NutriBullit. For lunch I have 3-4 ounces of meat and either lots of raw veggies or a big salad. For supper, I have another shake substituting organic spinach for the kale and pumpkin seeds for the hemp seeds. I take Vitamin C & D, magnesium bis-glycinate, all the B’s plus folic acid; Choline and inositol (for tinnitus); black seed oil (cumin) and tamoxifen.
I haven’t been losing weight and my immune system is depressed and has been for several years (since I had chronic fatigue syndrome). My mornings are good but most days I’m lacking energy and I’m hungry around 4 pm and in the evenings (I really think I’m looking for energy). I’ve really enjoyed the visualizations, I find them relaxing and helpful for my stressful job and I’ll stay with them to diminish my appetite.
Is there anything about my diet that’s harming my weight loss goals. To be honest, the Isagenix is expensive and if it’s not going to do the trick, I’ll finish off what I have and try to devise another plan.
I feel better when I get some exercise but rarely have the energy.
Thanks for any advice you can provide!
Joan
Hi Joan,
The fact that you are hungry suggests your body is wanting/needing more. I would suggest eating a healthy snack mid morning and mid afternoon.
And be sure that you are drinking enough water first thing in the morning and throughout the day.
Team, can you please post the link to the “fat triggers quiz” mentioned in the core class? Thanks!
Hi Rebekah,
Here is the link:

I love green juice and I have a Brevell machine, I know masticating machines are recommended, but can I still benefit from using Brevell? I feel good when I juice, so something is happening.
Hi Kari,
I don’t have a masticating juicer either – while they are the best that money can buy – they are not the only solution. In fact you can even make juice with a blender! (You blend all the ingredients and then strain the juice!). So just keep doing what you are doing… its working 🙂

Jon, I have organic Raw cacao nibs, freeze dried acai powder, raw camu camu powder and raw lucuma. Do you approve of these products and in what amount?
Thanx so much!
Jacqie
Hi Jacqie,
I feel all of these things are fine. Cacao can be quite stimulating for some people so you may want to hold off on having that in the evening.
These are all great foods so no need to be overly concerned with portions but I would suggest a few teaspoons of each in a smoothie would be nice.
Hi Jon
I have a personal history of Binge Eating Disorder and have been treating eating disorders for over 20 years. I was introduced to your work a few years ago through, Food Matters. I began eating in a vegan manner for health reasons as I am a Cancer survivor. I now am a pesco ovo lacto vegetarian as vegan eating was too difficult to maintain for me in the long run. Anyway, my weight is creeping up and I truly believe that dieting is NOT the answer and I need to calm my stressed self into feeling safe enough to let go of the weight and to take better care of myself. Earning my doctorate, a career change and move across the country has created enough stress in the last few years, that I have decided to join this group as a commitment to myself to take back my health. Kari Anderson
Hi Kari,
Wonderful to have you hear with us. I honour your choice to be here and to be committed to your health.
What do we eat on this Program?
Thanx
Jacqie
Hi Jacqie,
Take a look at the ‘Action Steps for Week 1’. You will find a shopping list in there.
You are basically trying to eat The Big 3 meals.
I am so glad to be joining this group. I’m a single mother of a teenager and we have another teenager sleeping on the couch because he has nowhere else to go, and I’m working two jobs (fortunately, both are from home), so I need a little leg up, so to speak, in taking care of myself and my weight, which, at 57 years of age, seems uncontrollable – 100 pounds overweight and my mind still boggles at the thought:-) I’m a Silva Method graduate from 20 years ago, and also EFT (tapping), and still do both, though not a daily basis. So I definitely believe that the mind controls the body, and I’m looking forward to applying specific mental techniques targeted toward a healthy body and weight loss.
Great to have you here with us Nancy!
Hi Jon, I started listening to your meditations 4 weeks ago. I faithfully listen do the evening visualization and am pretty good about doing one of the 21 day Meditation for Weight Loss sessions and another 10 minute segment in your how-to visualization on pulling energy down from the sky and up from the earth. I feel more relaxed after these visualizations. However, I’m gaining, not losing, weight. I muscle test and get that I believe if I am attractive (i.e. weight less), I’ll be hurt. I know this stems from a childhood issue.
I am a yo-yo dieter from my early teens and I realize that has an impact on my success as well.
What’s the best way for me to get over this stumbling block? Is tapping the answer? I’m quickly getting discouraged as you can imagine.
Thanks, Joan
Hi Joan,
You are doing great simply by showing up and doing the visualizations. Be patient and be gentle with yourself, this is a journey and you are laying the foundation right now for success as you move forward.
Tapping can certainly be helpful and working with emotional release coaches.
Be gentle with yourself during those times when you feel discouraged – you really are doing great.
Hi, I just thought I would share my story too. I am 44 and I have lived the past 32 years with the need to lose weight in my head. I have been on every diet imaginable, I lose weight and then it comes back and more. When I look at photos of me when I was young, I was short against tall friends which made me feel fat. While I wasn’t skinny, I certainly wasn’t in the situation I am in today. I don’t eat bad foods very often and I don’t eat a lot at all but yet here I am needing to lose 30 to 35 kilos. I am desperately needing another solutions as I have come to the conclusion too that diets do not work and will not provide long term weight stability. Over the last 5 to 8 years I have also found it virtually impossible to lose any weight no matter what I do. I feel I have emotional blocks but I don’t understand what they are. I am really looking forward to these next five weeks and hope that this program will help me move forward and lose the weight.
Welcome Emma,
I hope you enjoy this 5 week course. This is not a diet, you are right – diets do not work. This is about making positive lifestyle changes – that benefit all aspects of your life – weight loss just being an added feature. Its not about quick solutions, its about making small, gradual changes that become habits of a lifetime – and therefore the weight-loss is a natural process (not a battle) and is sustainable. Keep us posted on your journey!
Den 🙂
Thanks Den, I will keep you posted.
I am having difficulty finding chia bran. I live on the North part of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I did find that nuts.com carry this but they do not have any in stock at this time. Is there something else that I could use?
Hi Edith,
Perhaps you could try almond meal
I live in the states and found a company called Vitacost.com that sells chia bran, bought some last week. Maybe this will work for you.
Dear GM team,
Looking forward to the “nyny” program! I was had a question about truvia; is this a natural sweetener like Xclear and Stevia?
Furthermore I am looking for some more details about the digestive enzymes and probiotic? I want to buy them, however there are so many different choices which ones do you recommend?
Looking forward to your answers. Thanks!
Hi Marlien,
Stevia is a plant that has green leaves with a very sweet taste. Truvia is a white powder that has obviously gone through some processing. I would suggest getting stevia powder which is just the dried leaves that are powdered down (it will be green)
As for digestive enzymes and probiotics, go to a good health food store in your area and ask the staff for the best ones they carry. The probiotics should be kept in the fridge at the store and should contain several different strains.
Question for GM Team:
I’ve tried organic maca 3 or 4 times in different formulas and ways. I spent a lot of money on it, only to throw it out after throwing it up. I can’t do it, and there are very few things I cannot ingest. I know it’s highly recommended for balancing hormones. Are there other things for me to use? I guess it’s like cilantro . . . some people can eat while others can’t touch it.
Hi Debra,
No need to use maca if it doesn’t agree with you. Stick to eating Gabriel friendly meals including The Big 3.
I was able to utilize the night visualization from the free Apple I-phone app and I bought the morning visualization for $.99 USD. I know it’s included in the package but if you use Apple it’s really easy to get it that way. Hope that helps some of those having difficulty with the visualization link.
Ameenah ,where do I find this app ?
I got it on my phone, an I-phone. But you can probably get it from any Apple device in the App Store.
Hi, the link to the Gabriel Method app in the Itunes store is: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gabriel-method-visualization/id797451573?mt=8
These are the same visualizations that are included for free as part of our program here.
Enjoy them!
-Anne, GM Team
Is there an adroid app? I checked the play store but didn’t see it.
Good morning! I did the Weight Loss Summit on your site last month and found it full of great information. That encouraged me to bite the bullet and sign up for your NYNY program. I have to admit that I’m a bit skeptical. I’ve done dozens of diets and lifestyle change programs. I’ve hired nutritionists, life coaches, even had someone in my home to help me change my eating and shopping habits. Although many of the changes are positive and I continue to do them, none of them have resulted in sustainable weight lost. I keep trying to find the missing piece of my puzzle – I really hope this is it! I’m a bit alarmed by everyone talking about the visualization assignment and “weekly checklist.” I didn’t see anything that told us what to do so I must be missing something.
I’ve tried it all too. So you’re not alone. 🙂
The checklist are the “Action Steps” link at the end of each week. We’ll start Week 1 later today, so you’re not behind.
The visualizations (actually 1 visualization) was referred to in Jon’s introduction to NYNY. But none of us had access until today. So, you’re right there with the rest of this group.
Hope knowing you’re right with us helps. I know I was panicking yesterday with no help on the visualizations, but now I figure we’re all in the same boat.
Hi Tricia,
Don’t be alarmed. Just check out the Action Steps tab on the right hand side of this page – look at Week 1 for this week and so on. These are the things that Jon would like you to add to your routine, and the visualisations really are that important – you will be amazed what an impact they will have! Keep us posted and anytime you have a question just ask – here or during our weekly live shows.
Den – GM Team
I am very much looking forward to this program, but I am unable to download anything. I keep getting unable go download with current settings. I am able to download from other sites. Mary
Did you try logging out and logging back in? That helped me.
Hi Mary,
I hope this problem has been rectified – you should have received an email from our help department regarding that?

Hi, I’m Susan from the UK.
I’ve had weight problems all my life and have been a chronic dieter. I have had my basal metabolic rate measured as 1200 cals/day which means it’s been very difficult to maintain a normal weight. I am extremely limited in the exercise I can do due to a longterm auto-immune disease due to which I have been medically retired.
I won’t be able to join the live sessions as they are after midnight for us so I hope that’s not going to be an issue.
Any help will be gratefully received! Thanks
Hi Susan, welcome, we’re glad to have you here.
All the live sessions will be archived here on this site so you’ll be able to watch them at a time that’s convenient for you.

Hi my name is Mylou living in the Netherlands I am already a while a GM member but needed to sort out many issues before I was able to follow the GM method from the start ,so this is a great oppertunaty espacialy doping it in a group and haring Jon and his team around . Just having a question about skype I have an iPad and computer on Windows and did find the join conference account but it requests an invitation is that correct . Tanks for your help
Hi Mylou, welcome! Regarding your question, yes on Skype you should add Join Conference to your Skype contacts.
We look forward to sharing the journey with you,

Anne and the GM team – please sit up and take NOTICE of our problems!!! It’s really unbelievably annoying that you are only responding to the people who are just saying hi and welcoming them and not DOING ANYTHING about those of us who are experiencing technical problems. And it appears there are many many of us. Clearly your website has glitches.. just tell us that you are onto it and doing something about it, please, or that a technical team is looking at it. Alternatively you could always refund us our payment! So far seriously unimpressed with the website quality and also the customer service.

Is this really a 5-week program? If it starts Feb 10 and appears to end Mar 13, that is 3 wks and 4 days. The dates don’t seem to match any of the literature (emails that I received, which had starting date Feb 12), what are the real dates?
Hi Lorell,
Yes, the program is 5 weeks, check out the calendar on the right hand nav bar here and you can see each week’s schedule listed. Thanks for joining us! -Anne, GM Team
Hi there
I am very excited to join this 5 week programme. However it appears that the visualization library is not working for me too. It says I don’t have the right to access this library. There must be a technical glitch that you need to look into if so many people are having the same problem. Please can you sort it out asap as I would love to listen to the visualisation that we are supposed to start with for evenings.

Hi Jon and team. I’m Rob. I’m a Paramedic with Ambulance Victoria and and a passionate scuba diver. My increasing weight over the last 10 years is taking it’s toll on both my work and favorite pastime. My wife and I want to start travelling Australia in a couple of years and I want to be fit for that also. I’ve yo-yo’d since I was about 12. I’m 62 now. I was seriously considering bariatric surgery before this offer came up. Here’s to NYNY!
Hi Rob, welcome, we’re glad to have you here! -Anne, GM Team
Hello All!!
I’m Ameenah. Excited to join you all on this journey to health and wellness. Looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few weeks!
Hi Ameenah, welcome. Looking forward to having you on this journey 🙂 Anne, GM Team
Hi Jon & Team – like many others I have a question about the Visualization Library. Although the right side of the Members page shows the link to the library, when I click on that link there are no links or files we’ll need for the visualizations mentioned in the weekly checklists. There’s a warning about listening & driving but no mp3 or other files. Look forward to hearing that the page has been fixed. Thanks and looking forward to this journey with you!

Hi Jon and Team – I am very excited to start on this new path – thank you for starting this. I am 35 days into green juicing every day, but it doesn’t seem to be a high priority or obvious objective in this program. What can you tell me about the benefits of green juicing on weight loss?
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
Green juices are great to get good nutrition into your body in a highly absorbable form.
Make your juices mostly green with just a bit of apple or beet to sweeten it up.
Fantastic you are having a juice every day, this combined with eating Gabriel friendly meals and snacks is really great.
Hi – Is there a way to turn off all the emails every time a new post is added to the questions? I did not see it in the profile area. Thanks
Hi Alesia – in those emails there should be a link to unsubscribe from the notification. I clicked on that link and the emails have stopped.
Thank you Jill! – Do you still get important email notifications about the class? (Might not know until the class starts) I was worried about eliminating all the emails with that opt-out link on the email. Thanks again.
Hi Alesia,
Another suggestion would be instead of relying on the emails to remind you, check the dates in advance and add them to your calendar for reminders that way. Would that be better?
Den
If you are not available for any of the core classes or live question and answers, can we watch them at a later time?
Hi Sharon, yes, all the classes will be archived and you will be able to watch them at your convenience. -Anne, GM Team
I’m having the same problem. And when I try the link below it says that I need to be a member if I then click ‘login’ it takes me to the membership login page sans the login option…I think there are a few kinks that need to be ironed out! Soon I hope.

Gabriel Method, as suggested below, I’ve emailed help@thegabrielmethod.com because we don’t have access to visualizations (specifically an .mp3 we’re supposed to be listening to at night, now). And have yet to receive a response. I realize there is a time difference, but how about some love for this new NYNY class in time for our first session? It’s been a problem for several days. Could you poke someone there to take care of this issue? Thanks!

Introductions? Hi. My name is Debra. I’m here because I am morbidly obese and have tried just about every diet and program on the planet. I’ve read Jon Gabriel’s book, bought one of his mp3s. I’m able to lose weight, but haven’t been able to keep it off. The programs I’ve been on have been non-sustainable. I’m also a new, certified health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. One of my IIN program goals for myself was to lose 50 pounds in a year. I was able to lose 30, but have gained 20 of it back. I’m not a failure at losing weight . . . I can’t keep it off. I’ve wanted to do the Gabriel Method for some time, but frankly could not afford it. This ‘New Year New You’ offer was as affordable as I’ve seen it. Jon? I relate to your story. You are my Dr. Atkins. Help me, help me. If I can lose this weight and keep the weight off on this program? I want you to hire me. I’d be the BEST, most authentic coach you ever saw.
Welcome Debra, we’re glad to have you here!
-Anne, GM Team
Hi Jon,
Looking forward to the 5 week class. I have just started reading your visualization book. Is the MP3 device you sell with the visualizations already loaded on it recommended for the 5 week class? thanks

Whew, thanks Anne.. was starting to panic. Have a great day!
Is there a forum section particularly for the participants doing the NYNY program? How do we access it? I was looking forward to discussing with other participants. Thank you.
Hi Rebekah,
There isn’t a forum section particularly for participants – but you can certainly add comments and questions for other members here if you like. Quite often that is what happens in these Q&A sections – other members will add to or even answer questions.
Look forward to ‘seeing’ you in the Live Q&A’s.

Is there a plant based protein powder you would recommend in place of the whey such as pea or rice?
Hi Janet,
You can try hemp, pea or brown rice protein powders.
Hope that helps,

Hello. I have some questions:
– is agave syrup good as sweetener?
– is it possible to have the classes at another time as in Europe is 1am and for me is difficult in the middle of the night?
Thanks for your attention.
Ines
Hi Ines,
Welcome. Jon is not really a fan of Agave, but it is still a better option than processed sugar. A good sweetener to use is Coconut palm sugar – this has a very low glycemic index.
Jon is in Australia – hence the reason for the specific timeslots. Sorry that the classes are not at a more Europe friendly time – however, all of the classes will be recorded and archived for you to listen to as and when you need to. I hope this helps.
Kind regards

Sorry for so many question. Looking at recipes and checklists for weeks 1 and 2. I like to be prepared. 1) I’m allergic (been tested) for both egg white and yolks. Do you have a substitution for that ingredient in the breakfasts? Or do I skip those recipes. 2) My naturopath already has me on many of the probiotic, digestive enzyme, omega 3 supplements. Good quality stuff. I’m assuming I stay on what Doc has me on now. 3) I don’t have access to the mp3 we’re to be listening to, now, before bed time. It says I have to be a paid member. I am. ??? Thank you for helping me get set up!!!
Hi Debra,
It depends on the recipes but often you can substitute unsweetened applesauce, mashed banana or even ground flaxseeds mixed with water for eggs in recipes. Here is a link to a website with some suggestions : http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/resourcespre.php?id=104
In regards to not being able to access the Mp3 – please contact our team at help@thegabrielmethod.com and they will be able sort this out for you.
Hope this helps.
