Today, day 4, I received Green Me Up Jonny, but I have not received Yoga or GM fitness yet. Are they on the way? You mention them often but I have no idea what they involve.

  3. Janis Bonavito says:

how many people are doing the cleanse

  4. Terry Neri says:

I have not yet received my jar of Green Me Up, although I registered 2 weeks before the cleanse started. Is it back ordered, or am I just impatient? Thanks, Terry

  5. Tandy Solomon says:

    Hi everyone 🙂

Before the webinar starts today, I just want to acknowledge all of us for showing up, for being here to do the cleanse, to learn, to be taking actions towards greater health. Even thought Jon and the GM team deserve great kudos for doing a great job supporting us, it’s not an easy thing, often, to let go of all of our comfort foods, and just our general habitual behavior.

I’ve had a difficult last few hours — more emotionally difficult than physically. I think it’s because I inadvertently got out of a good blood sugar range — I drank a juice that 1) I guzzled 2) I didn’t cut with water, and 3) I’d added an entire apple to — ALL things we’ve been gently encouraged not to do!, but I forgot (truly!) the suggestions and went blithely on my way.

Subsequently, even though I had migraines the first two days, this day has been a far harder day. I’ve felt cravings for the first time. I’ve felt weak, and a kind of creeping despair that I know is not based on any reality other than that detoxes bring up things! I realized I don’t need to focus on any story, any content (like, oh my god,”how will i live without junk food?”) etc.; all I need to do is keep focused on my commitment, which is to participate as fully as I can in this process that I and we all have invested in.

Having said that, I now feel more calm and serene 🙂
I feel a lot of compassion for all of us, and gratitude that we’re all in this together. Thanks Jon, Nadia, Den, Sherri, Shannon, healthy cleaning expert whose name I’m temporarily forgetting but from whom i’m excited to learn more this afternoon, and everyone else on the GM team and every one of us who’s participating!

  6. Tana Macpherson-Smith says:

Hi Jon – thank you so much for this amazing experience. I’m on day 4 – started early to avoid my birthday weekend ….but have one question. This has been going amazingly well considering i’ve never done this before – however, today I have found I feel nauseous each time I consume a green juice or the tea, and when I lie down at night, feel nauseous too. Any suggestions for a quick fix? I have tried peppermint tea. I feel the best I have felt in forever – full of energy and my skin has cleared beautifully, but this nausea is putting me off facing another juice. Ideas? Many thanks

  7. Elizabeth Hindley says:

Hi. I have sent 3 emails about a refund and I have not got a response so as a last resort I thought I would post here.

As stated in the last 3 emails I fell ill with a really bad flu and decided the worst thing I could do with it was the detox. I have received emails with links etc but seen none of the program as I have been that ill. I am part of the UCE coaching program and was looking forward to the detox.
    Thank for your assistance.

    Cheers Liz

  8. Ludmilla wolf Wolf says:

what about tahini? I understand it is 100% seseme seeds in liquid format, would it be ok for the cleanse break as I am not sure it is suiteble for the detox? thx

  9. Eveline Jansen says:

    HI,
What about glutenfree bread instead of wheat bread. can we have that like next week and later on?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Eveline,
If you are wanting to eat bread – Gluten free is definitely a better option. It would be best to avoid having bread until day 2 or 3 after your cleanse.
      Best regards

  10. Trishgy says:

Oh dear… I was doing so well but today – day 4 for me- was very hard. The green juice just turned me and so did the broth. I had thought I would be feeling great by now but I was really achey, felt a bit out of it and just didn’t think I could keep it up. So this evening I had a tuna sandwich, followed by some biscuits and now I’m trying not to be annoyed with myself. Should I resume the cleanse tomorrow or move into the post cleanse? I really don’t want to beat myself up about this but I do see now that I could have chosen better alternatives.

    • Ellen says:

Well, don’t be too hard on yourself! This is rough. I did 72 hours by the book but just had to give in and make a smoothie. Immediately after drinking it (made of almond milk, spinach, ice, and whey protein) I feel so much better. You surely got a lot of benefit from the days you did!

      • Trishgy says:

Thanks for the support Ellen and when I think of it I managed about 90 hours which isn’t bad. I just wish I had prepared a proper back up plan and had something healthy – like you – rather than go for the most convenient thing in the fridge!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Trishgy,
Ellen is right, don’t be hard on yourself. You have done a wonderful job and your body has already had a great cleanse. You can continue with the cleanse tomorrow as though you didn’t have the sandwich if you want to. You cannot fail. 🙂
      Kind regards

  11. Allison Miller says:

Is it ok to have Chaga Powder and / or Reishi Mushroom powder mixed with hot water on the cleanse? Thank you so much

  12. Beata Jostmeier says:

Yesterday was a rough day. Very strong headache throughout. I basically drank liters and liters of water with lemon. I did get in my chia shakes. The web site says that we have access to the webinars until the end of the cleanse. Since I was really out of it yesterday and have to catch up on some work today, would it be possible to download them for keeps? I would love to hear them again after the cleanse. This is all new for me and I know that I am missing small tidbits of info right now.

    • gabrielmethod says:

Hi Beata, sounds like you may not getting enough of your green juice or veggie broth- that’s important for nourishing your body. See if you can incorporate that, and your headaches should decrease.

The replays of all the webinars will always be available- you own the program and everything here will continue to be here and is yours to keep!
      Kind regards, Sherri, GM Team

  13. Ann Curtis says:

Today I made a delicious juice that I thought I’d share with you all. My secret ingredient: fennel! It adds such a nice, smooth flavor. My entire juice included: 1/2 cucumber, 4 celery stalks, some mint leaves, handful of cilantro, and chunk of fennel. YUM!

  14. Ellen says:

I started my cleanse on Sunday at noon US time because I knew I had a busy week and wanted to get ahead of the fatigue by the time midweek came around so I am almost at 3 full days of only liquids.

Having said that, I need help! Yesterday, I only managed to consume 1 green juice, 1 broth, about 1/2 of my chia drink, and 2 herbal teas with coconut oil. The rest of the day I drank plenty of water but the thought of drinking anything else made me cringe. Today it’s even worse. I just made a fresh green juice and it’s all the same ingredients that would normally taste great to me but I took one sip and felt the need to vomit. I don’t know if I’ll be able to drink it and I definitely don’t want a chia drink today, it makes me feel like throwing up just thinking about it. The only thing that actually tastes good, or even edible right now is my herbal tea with coconut oil.

Not sure what to do because I really don’t want to stop the cleanse early but don’t want to be nutrient deprived.

Anyone else having this feeling? Any suggestions? Maybe a visualization about how great everything tastes?

    • Marisol Rocha says:

Hi Ellen, it sounds like we are in the same time zone and I know the team tends to write during our evening hours, so I wanted to share some thoughts to support you during your day time before they get back to you!

While I am no expert, I feel intuitively that your best bet is to trust your body on what it is asking for or rejecting. Do not force yourself to drink anything that makes you feel nauseous! If your body was really lacking the nutrients, my guess is that it would crave them.

How are you feeling about the broth, does that feel doable? The green me up Johnny might be a good substitute as well for the juices and the omega shake. But if these also feel repelling, trust that the tea and lots of water (with peppermint, lemon, or anything that feels soothing or plain, whatever feels right!) will get you through until you get a response from the team.

My guess is that the mental stress of being “nutrient deprived” can cause more problems than actually drinking less of the juices and shakes. So let that stress go and believe in what your body wants and just stay tuned in to it as you go through your day, maybe it will open up cravings as you focus on your tea and water.

You have a great idea of turning to visualizations and maybe the Letting Go one would be great – a message around just releasing the stress and trusting your body and the process.

Hope this helps!! Sending peaceful and nourishing energy your way!!

      • Ellen says:

        Thanks for the note, Marisol.

I am doing better now than I was first thing this morning. I went to work and got busy and distracted with that but was thirsty enough to keep drinking water throughout. When I left at noon I tried a few sips of my green juice from this morning and it didn’t leave me feeling bad so I think I’ll be able to drink the rest of it over time today.

I am considering making a spinach smoothie with organic whey protein even though I know it’s not recommended. I am not “hungry” but I just feel completely empty and exhausted but nothing appeals to me in terms of food or liquid. I gave myself full permission to just eat something today if I wanted and there is nothing I want. Mostly I want some energy!

I work 9am-Midnight, 6 days a week, with a short break mid day so I am sure that’s part of why I’m so tired right now.

    • Jon Gabriel says:

Just go with what your body wants. That’s fine!

  15. KAY PATERSON OAKES says:

    Hello everyone.
I did the pre cleanse for 18 days and started the cleanse early. So I am now on day 5. This journey has been amazing and have felt so well throughout.
I have shed 9 pounds which itself is amazing as I have been the same weight now for about 10 years despite trying other means.

My question: I have read on the forum that it is not advisable to continue the cleanse beyond day five.

I must confess to feeling rather desperate that `i do not regain the weight & continue losing.

I plan to resume the pre cleanse way of eating, but would it be OK for the next – two or three days – to have the broth and an omega shake for breakfast and dinner,
+ a salad with oily fish or chicken for lunch.

    Many thanks, Kay.

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Kay,

That’s fine, but I would urge to not be too focused on the specific weight you may have lost during the cleanse. It’s natural to lose weight when you substantially decrease your intake for a few days and natural also to regain that weight once you go back to your normal eating pattern.

They key here is to look long term. Because if you’ve done the fast correctly, and it very much sounds like you have, you’ll have less cellular stress and inflammation and that will shift your hunger levels and your set point and allow you’re body to lose weight in a gradual way over time.

If you continue with the positive eating habits you’ve acquired during the pre cleanse, then after you’re body replenishes itself over the next couple weeks, weight loss should be much easier. Also please continue to listen to visualizations and focus on reducing stress from a mind body perspective as well. Great Job so far!

  16. Karyn De mol says:

What benefits woudl be lost by only doing the detox for 4 days instead of 5?
If i have a hens day saturday which will involve booze and eating – not really sure what type of restaurant we are attending if I will be able to get healthy food.
Would it better for me to stop the detox early to get my body into some healthy eating on friday or at least friday night before the outing on saturday?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Karyn,
If you need to attend a party on Saturday its a great idea to move to post cleanse foods on Friday so that the food you eat on Saturday isn’t too much of a shock to your digestive system.
Your body has had an excellent cleanse, so do not worry if you need to do it for four days instead of five. As Nadia says “you cannot fail at this detox”

  17. Karyn De mol says:

Day 3 and amazingly not too many symptons other than a slight headache on day 1 although I did get a leg cramp last night even though I took magnesiam before going to bed so added more himalyan salt to my water today.
I do have a question about v8 juice – my partner is struggling with the detox with symptoms and to top it off he hates any juices i have made him and is getting over the broth. I have bought him some V8 juice as he loves that although it is 88% tomotoe – is V8 ok for him to sip on during the day in conjunction with some broth, teas, water and 1 morning freshly made juice?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Karyn,
Does your partner mind the taste of the Green Me Up Jonny? This would be a good substitute for one or two of the juices during the day. I’m not sure of the salt content of V8 juices – as any added salt would not be the healthy mineralised salts that Jon recommends – so this is something to be conscious of. However if your partner is really struggling it is fine for him to substitute one or two juices with V8.

It is the third day! Congratulations, everyone! The hunger is gone but I have zero energy, feeling very weak and have hot flushes. I am taking everything as the schedule says. Could it be the hormones balancing out? I am 38.

  19. Marisol Rocha says:

For the post-cleanse, if my body “craves” a glass of wine or champagne here and there when out on date night with my husband, is it okay to indulge or is alcohol something to rid yourself of for good like soda which is so detrimental?

And IF you are going to have any alcohol are there types that you would suggest choosing over others – lesser of two evils type of thing (I have heard a glass of red wine is a good one as it has some health benefits – just how they recommend dark chocolate if you are going to choose to have any chocolate at all)?

  20. Marisol Rocha says:

Jon, many thanks for the Weleda recommendation as a replacement for deodorant. I purchased it and used it today, it seemed to work great! My only concern after yesterday’s class is that it contains alcohol and has a warning that reads, “Flammable. Keep away from eyes or mucous membranes” Are these not the type of warning labels we need to be wary of? Please advise.

  21. Marisol Rocha says:

My rosacea has flared in the last day or so and this surprised me as I thought perhaps the detox would help my skin get better. Not sure why the flare as I am not having anything that triggers it typically. Could this be the detox at work and I should just ride the wave and hope for improvement in a day or so?

  22. Wendy Furlong says:

    Oops I meant I can’t fail!! 🙂 I think I need a juice lol

  23. Marisol Rocha says:

My water filter does reverse osmosis and is quite good, does that mean it is alkalised? I am just catching on to this alkalised intention with the water as thus far I have been drinking just plain water some times with peppermint tea bag or sea salt – so have I been delaying de-toxification as a result these past three days?

    • Marisol Rocha says:

Follow up to question below: I don’t really like the apple cider vinegar taste and I cannot have lemon or lime due to my rosacea, so having “good student” syndrome might there be other things I can do to make sure my water is alkaline?

    • Jon Gabriel says:

You haven’t been delaying detoxification at all Marisol. Please don’t worry. Regular water is perfect for detoxing.

  24. Mireille Leclerc says:

Hi again, can you extend the cleanse to more then 5 days if you’re doing well? (which I am, I feel great!)

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Mirielle,

Happy you’re feeling great. For the first cleanse we recommend strongly that you finish the cleanse with us after 5 days. Then next time ( maybe next year) you can possibly plan a longer cleanse. But it’s really important not to push your body.

  25. Marisol Rocha says:

If headaches are mild and urine is clear, how do you know that you are actually detoxifying? I imagine it is all working as it should, but are there any other signs to help notice the wonderful effects of the great effort?

  26. Louis Schneidman says:

Is Kefir made from milk ok during detox since it is fermented?

  27. Mireille Leclerc says:

Hi, you say that a lot of toxins are eliminated through the skin (through sweat?), but lots of articles from serious sources say the contrary (exemple: http://www.quickmedical.com/blog/post/can-you-sweat-out-toxins.html)… What do you think? I would like to read more about it if you have good references to give me. Thanks!

  28. Daria J Howell says:

I had a lot of discomfort falling asleep last night–restless leg syndrome-type squirminess throughout my body. This is not normal for me. Any ideas? Also, I just want to say I LOVE the omega-3 drink and want to keep that up when the cleanse is over!

  29. Marisol Rocha says:

Jon emphasizes the importance of flushing body with Alkaline liquids. Are all the recipes we are following from the How To Videos alkalised? So for example, when I drink cucumber, celery and spinach juice (can’t do the lemon) am I drinking an alkalised juice? What about Green Me Up Johnny plain? Or do we need to make sure there is apple cider vinegar in each of the drinks? It would be so helpful to have a list of all alkalising elements so we can make sure we are making the best of this effort 🙂

    • Nadia says:

      Hi Marisol,

All the juices, broth, green me up johnny, etc are great alkaline and healthy foods. Apple cider vinegar is wonderful added to water but not necessary to add it to the other things.

  30. Farideh says:

I noticed my tongue is different it looks white . It means toxic? How I can clean it

  31. Marisol Rocha says:

I am wondering what my body is doing as I am urinating every 2-3 hours or so even though I am drinking 3-4 liters of water plus 1 morning tea, 2 meals of Detox Broth, 3 juices and 1 Green Me Up Johnny during the day. I believe I am doing well with the fluid in take, is there a problem if I am not urinating once per hour as mentioned in one of the first classes?

  32. Wendy Furlong says:

Morning .. Just want your help and advise on how I can get more omega 3 in my diet after cleanse as I have mild cardiomyopathy and a condition called TMA which is a missing enzyme .This conditions limits my intake of certain food some which are high in the “good stuff ” like fish , certain meats and vegetables … Loving the this seeds and linseed .. Is this enough omegas to protect my heart .. I only recently have started to see my cholesterol go from 5 to 6:9 I’m nervous about coconut oil being bad for my cholesterol .. Enjoying this journey with you .. Proud of my self ” I can fail ” regards Wendy

  33. Beata Jostmeier says:

I am not sure if my question got posted, so I will ask again. Jon speaks of diets as harmful in the long term because they trigger famine reaction in the body. How is the cleanse different physiologically?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Beata,
Chronic long term hunger can cause your body to want to hold into weight. But toxins also cause your body to hold onto weight too for similar physiological reasons. Reducing your body’s digestive requirements while simultaneously flushing your body with alkaline liquids is one of the quickest and most effective ways to rid your body of toxins. The trick is to do this for a short time period, and in a manner that minimises hunger, and that’s what we’re trying to achieve with this cleanse.

  34. cwalker@svcable.net says:

Thank you for so many answers! I know you will cover this toward the end of the week, but could you touch on what the post cleanse diet is so we can be prepared to have the right foods on hand? Is is pretty much like the pre-cleanse feast? 🙂

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi CWalker,
The post cleanse will be similar to the pre-cleanse. However, for the first one or two meals post cleanse, choose foods with a high water content and that are easy to digest. Examples are papaya, melons, blueberries and raw salads. Your digestive system will find it very hard to digest dairy products, grains, and protein straight away.

Someone mentioned leg pain. I have had pretty intense pain my thighs and less in my back with the cleanse and seem to have gotten relief from Arnica, taken orally.

  36. Joanne Witte says:

I woke up with a throbbing headache and it has gotten worse all day. Almost feels like a migraine. I don’t often get headaches and never migraines. I am sure it’s a detox effect but can I take aspirin? I can hardly stand it.

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Joanne,
So sorry to hear that. Nadia has suggested resting as much as you can, but if you need to take pain medication, that is fine.
      Hope you feel better tomorrow.

  37. Kristen Swinehart says:

    Hi,

I will be traveling (flying) on Friday, the last day of the cleanse, and was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to continue while not being able to take juices etc. through security as well as not having access to these at my destination. I really don’t want to miss the last day but I also don’t want to just be drinking water. 🙂

    Thanks!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Kristen,
Jon and Nadia recommended having a juice before leaving for the airport. And to take Green Me up Jonny, chia seeds and your tea bags. When you are on the plane you can purchase bottled water and add your GMUJ and chia seeds to this – and have it as often as you need. You can also ask for hot water in a cup whilst on the flight for your tea. Hope this helps.

  38. Ann Curtis says:

Hello, thank you for being so wonderful with addressing all the questions! My question is how important is it to drink just plain water? With all the broths I’ve been drinking I haven’t been having that much water. Is that an issue? Thank you Jon & Nadia!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Ann,
As you are having a lot of liquid in your juices, tea and broth, it is not too important to also have plenty of water.

Baking Soda for shampoo: (3 questions)

    1) I also just tried baking soda and water instead of my shampoo and I have to say it made my scalp tingle (almost as if it felt raw) – is that a normal sensation?

    2) I do currently have color in my hair, so I am also curious if the baking soda will strip my hair of the color?

    3) I tend to have a dry, flaky scalp, and on occassion use products such as Head and Shoulders or T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo. Do the DIY hair solutions you covered last night help with this sort of thing as well? If so, which one of the suggestions would be best for this specific type of treatment?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
Nadia recommends only using the baking soda and water wash occasionally, the Apple Cider vinegar rinse can be used in between. It is also important to only massage gently.
We are not sure about baking soda stripping your hair colour – perhaps if you could keep us posted?
You will actually find that not using commercial shampoos and conditioners will improve the condition of your scalp.

  40. Marisol Rocha says:

I just tried baking soda, sea salt and water to brush my teeth and it feels clean, but it left my gums feeling a bit raw. Is that normal as my body gets used to the baking soda – have never used it before for any reason other than to pull odors from my refrigerator! 🙂

    • Marisol Rocha says:

Also, I mixed it all in a glass and just scooped it out with my toothbrush as I was not certain how to sprinkle all the bits on without it all falling off before I got the water on there. I would so greatly appreciate a more detailed step by step explanation of the application of the mixtures you shared for toothpaste and shampoos (ie, do you pre-mix it in the moment within a container and apply or do you sprinkle right on and then allow the water to mix straight from the shower/faucet?)

  41. Marisol Rocha says:

I have a girls/birthday dinner on Thursday night with 3 friends that has been on the calendar way before I chose to do this program. I have been going round and round deciding to back out or not. It is the last moments of the cleanse and my instinct is telling me it would be best to keep nurturing and stay home to finish out strong instead of get tempted into drinks and delicious NYC dining. Any suggestions on strategies in case I do end up going?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
Jon and Nadia recommend deciding on the day whether you will be able to enjoy yourself without being tempted, or whether you feel that you are just not up to it. It would be a great idea to tell all your friends that you are doing this cleanse, and then if you decide at the last moment that you can’t go they will understand why.
      Hope this helps.

I have been experiencing a lot of acid issues. Is this common? Any suggestions?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Margaret,
This is perfectly normal. Jon and Nadia recommend some Apple Cider vinegar diluted in water to help settle this.

  43. Marisol Rocha says:

Also, I have heard of people reversing hypothyroidism through diet. Western medicine says it is a lifetime of levothyroxine once you are diagnosed, but I have always wondered if it is true that like my rosacea (thanks Jon!), perhaps I can also do away with my hypothyroidism once diet, stress levels and toxicity are addressed? This is all so fascinating! Please confirm if you know this to be possible for hypothyroidism.

    • Nadia says:

      Hi Marisol,

I deeply believe that the capacity of the human body to heal is immense. Continue moving in a healthy direction. Do work together with your health professional if you decide to come off any medicines.

  44. Marisol Rocha says:

Thank you Susan for asking about the relation of Kale to Thyroid issues. I am Hypothyroid (Hashimoto’s) and have been taking Levothyroxine hormones since 2005 to regain proper thyroid function. I just love kale and do eat it throughout my week in general, but also for this cleanse used it in my Detox Soup and in some juices.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I would hate to have to give up my kale!

    • Nadia says:

      Hi Marisol,

In the detox broth soup, no problem. In your juices, no need to give it up if you love it, you just want to keep your kale intake in the range that is right for you. A few times a week, a little kale in a juice shouldn’t be a problem.

  45. Susan M says:

Is it okay to put seaweed in the vegetable broth for the cleanse?

  46. Susan M says:

I do not have thyroid problems, but was told that vegetables like kale eaten raw can cause thyroid problems.
My question is, do you have any information on how long a person can safely eat raw vegetables that are goitrogens before there is a problem caused? I don’t imagine a week or two would do it, but I’m curious as I like kale in juice but don’t want to create problems for myself later on!

      Hi Susan,

When juicing for the long term it is important to rotate your greens so that you are not getting the same ones all the time. During this cleanse the amount of kale you are using should be okay.

If doing the cleanse, how much spirulina is appropriate to take?

Hi Susan – 1-10 grams is the range people take. Most people get gas if they have more than 2-3 grams per day, but it’s perfectly safe, just a super food;) I would suggest starting with 500 mg 2-3x per day and you’ll be able to add more from there.

Someone wondered last week if lemon juice in water erodes tooth enamel.

Nutrition advice from a dentist, Dr Eric Davis, who recommends drinking water with lemon in it, says that critical pH for tooth enamel is 5.5 and so if a person’s saliva is 5.5 they should not use lemon in water. If the saliva is below ph 6, then they should rinse their mouth with water after drinking lemon water. To find out the pH of saliva (and urine) there is pH paper one can buy, often sold by advocates of an alkaline diet.

About plastics for food storage, Building Biologist, Nicole Biljsma in her book “Healthy Home, Healthy Family” only recommends HDPE – high density polyethylene (recycling no.2), and PP – polypropylene (recycling no.5) as being okay for food storage (and for water pipes).

I prefer to avoid plastic for food storage altogether.

    • Nadia says:

If you can avoid plastics all together, great. If you are using them aim to obtain the harder plastics (as Susan has mentioned) as those will leach less than the softer, more flimsy plastics.

Another deodorant option is lime or lemon juice which kills bacteria under your arms in a natural way!

Watch this video at from 2:55 – 3:55 to see how exactly you can use a lime (or a lemon) as natural deodorant:
