I wanted to thank you very much for all the valuable information you are giving us in this programme. I manage a small organic ecofriendly B&B in the beautiful Italian hills and I thought I knew almost everything about DIY natural detergents as we use them in our practice but it never occurred to me that I could also replace shampoo&conditioner easily. Thanks so much, this will have further impacts in my life than I anticipated. You are doing a great job!!!

  4. Ludmilla wolf Wolf says:

I know this has already been asked but cannot find the answer. It’d be great to have a pdf of all the recipes and tips&trick that Nadia and Janine gave us in this webinar, as many were answers and are not in the slides. Is it possible, it’d truly be a great service.
    Thanks a lot

I understand we do not force ourselves and that’s why I haven’t gone too far with juices as I have a hard time with them. I am living on broth, which I love, and omega3 drinks (much better since you told how to spice it up). I am finishing day3 of detox and I still feel hungry and I want to make sure that I do not put my body on starvation as I am totally committed to reverse my metabolism and don’t want to be in the old situations. Also, since I didn’t yet receive the Green me up Jonny I got another supergreen but it is truly disgusting. How can I make it drinkable? Thanks a lot, I truly am satisfied of having joined you all for this journey.

I would love to have all the recipes/ideas in a downloadable pdf. Great ideas!!

I have been eating organic and doing a form of detoxing since 1970’s. All the other topics you are covering this week are really doable and help to take the extra environmental load off our bodies.

I found that I had a mild headache late in the day (even with extra hydration) on day 2, so I used a Gerson “coffee break” (enema) to help my body get rid of the extra toxic load — which made me feel so much better and got rid of the mild headache. Not many people will want to do this, I know, but for any pain or discomfort, it works great. (FYI–Gerson patients use it to get the toxins/cancer cells, that are being broken down (by organic juices/foods) and circulated in the blood and through the liver, out of the body. One needs to check their site for details on how to use this therapy, as it is very specific.)

  9. Beata Jostmeier says:

Jon talks about how restricting calories for weight loss causes more damage than good in the long term. How is this cleanse physiologically different?

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Beate,

Great question. Chronic long term hunger can cause your body to want to hold into weight. But toxins also cause your body to hold onto weight too for similar physiological reasons. Reducing your body’s digestive requirements while simultaneously flushing your body with alkaline liquids is one of the quickest and most effective ways to rid your body of toxins. The trick is to do this for a short time period, and in a manner that minimises hunger, and that’s what we’re trying to achieve with this cleanse.

  10. Ellen says:

    Good morning Jon and Everyone.

So here is my question for the day. I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW, we are not supposed to be looking at any scales but I did… and while I had lost 4lbs during the pre-cleanse I have now gained 4lbs in just 2 days of my detox. I have been on liquid diets before, though not for the purpose of detoxing, and when doing so I have lost weight at an extremely fast rate…never gained it! I know the point of the detox is to set us up for future weight loss, reboot our metabolism, and get our bodies to burn fat instead of sugar but it’s hard to stay positive when I am actually gaining weight doing it.

Can you please offer some encouragement and possibly an explanation of why this is happening? PS – I doubt it is because I was dehydrated before, as I drink 2-3L of water per day and have done so for the past 4 years.

    ……

Also, someone asked a question about ketosis and you answered that the point of the detox is not to put our bodies into ketosis. However, the fat-burning mode you speak of is exactly that. I had some urine testing sticks from the last time I tried a low carb diet and this morning, after less than 48 hours of the detox, I was most definitely releasing ketones in my urine. It may not be the main point of the detox but “ketosis” is an indicator that the body is using fat as fuel instead of dietary carbohydrates/sugars, which is what this program claims to want us to do. Hence – ketosis.

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Ellen,

While doing a detox can put your body into ketosis, the point of the cleanse is to detoxify, not necessarily to burn ketones. By detoxifying you will reduce the cellular stress in your body, which will help reverse insulin and leptin resistance, shifting your set point and making making your body more efficient at burning fat. Not necessarily through ketosis, but also through normal metabolic processes.

As far as the scales go, it could be any number of factors. But it’s certainly not that you’re eating too much, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Please give the scale a rest this week if at all possible. You’re weight will fluctuate this week and the next, so it’s best to leave it alone and not focus on it too much.

  12. Loredana Padurariu says:

    Hi everyone!
I am so excited about this Detox program. Even though I’ve never been obese and I am about 3-4 kg over my “ideal body” I am using The Gabriel Method to keep a healthy lifestyle.
I am so grateful for John’s work! Through his teachings I’ve learned to really love my body, surrender it and give up the harmful extreme diets I’ve been doing in the past.
I come from a family of traditional beekeepers and I’ve been using (row organic) honey as a cosmetic masque since always. It is the best thing to put on my skin to keep it glowing and beautiful.
For these cleansing days I didn’t use it though. I thought that entering my skin might probably give me a high rate of blood sugar. Is that right?
    Thank you!

  13. Marisol Rocha says:

After class I was cleaning up for the day and doing dishes and it occurred to me that we didn’t cover dish-washing products (dish soap as well as for the dishwasher). I use Seventh Generation products and I was wondering what Jon, Nadia and Janine think of this eco-friendly, green brand? I will more closely compare the ingredients you note to look out for tomorrow 🙂

    • Nadia says:

      Hi Marisol,

I have also used 7th Generation dish soap and have found it quite good. And on other occasions I have used castile soap for dishes.

      • Ludmilla wolf Wolf says:

for the dishwasher I have also another recipe: get 3 lemons, peel them and cut them in pieces (keeping the yellow peel but discarding the white), and blend it with 200g of salt. Put everything in a pot with 400ml of water and 200 ml of white vinegar, cook for 15 min blending it all. Let it cool then put it in a container and use 2 spoons in the detergent department of the dishwasher. Use vinegar as a sparkling aid. Will clean fine but not the very greasy stuff that with a good diet should not be there in the first place. HTH

Recipe for Shan’s Enviro Friendly Biodegradable Washing Detergent.

Suitable for top and front loading machines and very inexpensive to make. Also ideal for cleaning the toilet, mopping the floor & cleaning the stove! 🙂

Makes 10 Litres, Use 2-3 cups per wash

Ingredients: 1/2 cup grated pure soap (Castille or other)
    1/2 cup washing soda crystals
    1/2 cup white vinegar
    1/2 teaspoon Eucalyptus oil
(or tea tree oil, or a combination)
    1/2 teaspoon Lavender oil
    1 Litre tepid water
    5 Litres hot water
    4 Litres cold water

Method: Into a large pot put the tepid water and grated soap. Dissolve over heat on stove. Once dissolved, gradually add the washing soda & Stir until dissolved.
Add Vinegar and Oils, Stir well and remove from heat.
Transfer soap mix into a large bucket. Add hot water first then cold water, stir. Leave to cool and ‘set’. Once set stir the mixture well (I use an electric mixer/stick mixer)
    Pour into bottles

    • Nadia says:

Sounds great Shannon!! Thanks for sharing.

      • Ludmilla wolf Wolf says:

Hi all, I have been using a similar recipe for sometime now. Here in Europe Castile soap (for us called Marsile soap) is easy to find and very cheap. I use vinegar in the softener section of the washing machine instead of putting it in the detergent to avoid it counteracting the soda. (BTW is washing soda and baking soda the same thing?) Thanks

  15. Johanne Harrigan says:

What is the best way to heat up my broth at work since we only have a microwave oven? I thought of heating it like a baby bottle by putting my jar in hot water. Any other suggestions?

    • Shannon says:

Hi Johanne, you could heat your broth at home in the morning and take it in an insulated bottle, like a Thermos. Traditionally used to keep tea or coffee or soup hot.

  16. Marisol Rocha says:

Incredible seminar tonight – chalk full of great information – thank you! It made me start thinking on a deeper level about the impact of what we put in our mouth and on our skin and how we can reverse things that are ailing us. So my question is: Can my diet over time even rid me of my rosacea like a clean diet can rid one of body odor? Do I have hope to one day be able to enjoy citrus again (my rosacea trigger) or is that just a natural aspect of my biochemistry that I really do need to live with for the rest of my years?

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Mirasol,

Yes Janine and Nadia did a great job of putting together some really useful information.

I’m quite certain that changes in your diet, toxicity and stress levels can help with your Rosacea. Recent studies have shown that Rosacea may be linked to an over growth of unfriendly intestinal bacteria. So doing a cleanse like this, may be exactly what you need.

      • Marisol Rocha says:

Wow that is great news! If I see my skin clear over time, how might you recommend the reintroduction of citrus into my diet? Would it be one citrus fruit at a time (like you would start a baby on solids one element at a time). I imagine gentle doses is the way to go to see how my skin fares?

  17. Louis Schneidman says:

Where can I post some of the pictures I’ve taken? I went to your facebook page but could not post anything. Can you send me a link to where I can post my detox pictures?

  18. Angela Vogt says:

I use Norwex for cleaning my home which requires only water as they imbed silver into their cloths which is antibacterial. It’s been fantastic after using non chem cleaners for years – I find these cloths are heaven sent.

  19. Angela Vogt says:

do we email in pics ? what’s the address?

  20. Louis Schneidman says:

Still not too sure where I am getting my protein from. I know it is in the plants I am juicing as well as in the chia seeds, but is it sufficient? I know there seems to be a lot of controversy over this subject of protein. Sorry to contribute to the confusion….

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Louis,

You’re getting a small amount of highly assimilable protein from chia seeds and super greens, but you’re not getting nearly as much protein as you normally take. That’s part of the detox process. You’re body is in a cleansing mode right now, now a rebuilding mode. After the cleanse, let your body have as much protein as it needs and it will rebuild at whatever rate it feels is optimal.

  21. Jacqueline Bernauer says:

Things are going really well. I have two questions…
Would it be okay to use wild organic blueberries in our juice?
Is it okay to continue on with the detox after the 5 day’s have been completed?

    Thanks for all your help.
    Jacqueline

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Jacqueline,

So happy to hear things are going so well. Blueberries are a perfect food to break the cleanse with, but not ideal during the cleanse. If you are juicing them (not blending them) and you want to put a very small amount of the juice in your green juice for taste, that’s ok.

For your first cleanse we recommend that you end it after 5 days and follow our suggestions for breaking the cleanse properly. There are risks with going too far, so enjoy the cleanse process, see how you feel after it’s all said and done and maybe plan a slightly longer one next time.

      • Jacqueline Bernauer says:

Thanks so much Jon for your response. I will wait with including the blueberries for now as well as extending the cleanse so that I break the cleanse as you suggest.

This day has been low energy for sure but I am really loving the juice and broth. The tea is delicious too.

        Thanks again,
        Jacqueline

  22. Carol Dolven says:

Can the Green Me Up Jonny be added to warm things like the broth or tea?
    Thanks 🙂

  23. Carol Dolven says:

I had a question about the Detox Tea. While drinking it my throat feels raw! And is uncomfortable for several hours afterwards. Could it be the cinnamon that is bothering me?
    Thanks so much 🙂

  24. TroyLynne Perrault says:

I had an easy day. The Detox Soup Broth helped a great deal. I have a question about coconut water. Can you drink it straight? I think you have one Chia seed video where you have equal parts water. Also, since it is sweet, do you have to drink it slowly as you recommend with other juices that have apple, carrots or other sweet produce?

  25. Meera says:

A question about cucumbers, lemons and apples. The produce is organic but they all feel like they are waxed. Is it okay to juice them whole or do they need to be peeled? If leaving them whole is okay, is soaking in apple cider vinegar recommended or does it not make a difference?

  26. Meera says:

I was traveling on Sunday so I’m on Day 1 of the cleanse and just finished juice 2. 1st juice was celery, lemon, ginger, 1/4 green apple at 10am. 2nd juice was celery, cucumber, lemon and turmeric at noon. I messed up the timing this morning so I was planning to juice again at 1:30, 3:30, 5:30 to get in five juices with the omega shake at 2:30 and broth and shake at 7:30.

Now for the graphic part: I just had my second bowel movement today and pooped liquid. Is this normal? If I should be concerned, can you suggest what I should change? Thanks!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Meera,
Great question! Nadia says it is perfectly normal to have a liquid bowel movement at this stage in your cleanse.

Another question after listening to the last webinar: i had the green me up, Jonny 2 times today (4 scoops). Is it a good idea to take additional probiotic?

Thank you so much for caring so much, and staying with us through this -it is so helpful!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Susanne,
You can continue to take your probiotic as usual during the cleanse, even with the Green Me up Jonny. Probiotics are a great addition to the cleansing process.

  28. Anne says:

    Hi
I had a pretty rough start to the program. Week 1 went well and I was prepared for day 1. All the shopping done and the right supplements but the reality of working – leaving home at 7 and getting back home at 6 was too difficult. I made the broth and the juices for the day to take with me. I did not have enough to stop me from feeling hungry so I took more of the coconut oil and ate a bag of lettuce. By evening I had a massive headache and felt hungry and couldn’t be bothered with the juice so had more of the broth and I ate a small amount of chicken from my son’s dinner and a little fruit and went to bed early. I am feeling better today but have decided to delay the full on detox until I dont have to travel for work and I will listen to all the webinares this week and be super prepared for 2 weeks time when I am not travelling. I do feel good about it but I cannot work with headaches and my work is too important to stop at this time. I still think it is going well. Was there any live visualisation for day 1?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Anne,
All of the visualisations for this program are available now. You have full access to all this information and can do the Detox program at a more suitable time for you.

  29. Susanne says:

Just want to put it here as well:
When i was in India some years ago, my feet were very swollen. I was recommended to drink coconut water daily, and it really helped very quickly…

  30. Marisol Rocha says:

I find the omega 3s really help me feel satiated so for example today this is what I had so far:
8am cup of tea w/ coconut oil (1 tsp) plus juice I
10:30am Green Me Up Johnny with 1 tsp of Flax Oil and apple cider vinegar
1pm Detox Soup with 1 tbsp of coconut oil

Should I be worried to have and oil with every drink/meal? Please provide any parameters we should be aware of when it comes to the Omega 3s (can you use too much fat?)

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
A good guideline would be up to two cups of the tea with coconut oil, up to two Green Me up Jonny’s with oil should be sufficient. However, during these first couple of days, one or two more teaspoons of oil are okay if you are feeling you need it.
      Hope this helps.

  31. Marisol Rocha says:

Luck has it that I started my menstrual period today (sorry if that’s too much info!). I tend to get extremely bad cramps on day 1 and 2 and usually use Advil to make it through. I do not want to use it this week as I am loving the feeling of completely detoxifying, but are there any natural properties of a veggie or natural supplement that I can turn to to help with the pain?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
You might actually find that your cramps will not be as bad as a result of the juices and broths. Nadia has suggested using a hot water bottle over your abdomen may help. However, if you really need to take something for the pain you should.
      Best regards

  32. Marisol Rocha says:

So naturally our bodies will likely release some weight during the course of these 5 days. What might we expect on Day 6 when we re-introduce solids into our diet? Is it natural for us to gain some of that weight back the first week after the cleanse? Please advise on the weight portion of this cleanse and what we can do to keep the momentum going even after we get back into a “pre-cleanse” sort of diet. Thanks!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
Jon and Nadia recommend not thinking too much about weight loss during this cleanse. However, there will be recommendations on how to proceed food wise at the end of the cleanse to help keep the healthy momentum going. Hope this helps.
      Best regards

  33. Marisol Rocha says:

I am on Day 2 and while I have moments of feeling light headed and a bit out of it, I am LOVING the experience. I have two small children and even though we were running late this morning for school drop off, I felt usually Zen – it was great for me and for them!

Thank you SO much for putting together a program that feels so thoughtful, nurturing, supportive and do-able. I have been wanting to do a cleanse for a year now, but never felt good about the programs, products I came across. This has been exactly what I was waiting for and is exceeding my expectations – GRACIAS!

    • Marisol Rocha says:

oops I meant “UNusually Zen!” Mornings are typically hectic and rushed, but my energy was so calm and despite being late it helped make the experience a good one for all of us! It’s so true that “Mama sets the tone for the day!”

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
That is so great to hear! Zen mornings and small children don’t normally go together!

  34. Susanne says:

and i love the “green me up Jonny” juice, together with ground chia and flax seeds- and cinnamon is so good, too. How much is recommendable to have in one day?

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Susanne,
Nadia recommends 1-2 green me up johnny’s per day, combined with all the other juice and/or broth suggestions. If you are going to be out and need to replace some of the other things with green me up johnny, up to 4 per day would be okay.
      Hope this helps.

  35. Susanne says:

Wonder about the difference between green apples and red apples….
usually, i mix one half red apple into a green smoothie (2 glasses), which makes it taste all right.
The broth tastes great, and i made plenty, because it is really cold outside 🙂

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Susanne,
Green apples have less fructose than red apples. However, if you are enjoying the taste of the red apples in your juice, that is fine.
Glad you are enjoying the broth. Even though it is hot here for me, I quite often find that I need something warm for comfort.

im going to continue with my precleanse for another week because of some intense exams i have to take in collage this wk. Will I have access to this whole program in 2 weeks so I can do my wk of detox, later than our group? Also, will I have access to the yoga and move and sweat videos
so I can participate in them while I cleanse?
I want to say- what I have seen so far , the detox looks like the most doable, and healthy cleanses I have ever seen-and I v done a few in the past.
    thank you
ruti Please respond to my questions

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Ruti,
You can definitely go at your own pace- the program is yours to keep, and all the program resources, including the replays of the webinars, will always be available, so will your bonuses of Yoga for Weight Loss and GM Fitness. If doing pre-cleanse for an extra week helps you, then you should definitely do that.
Thanks for your kind words about the program, and enjoy! Best, Sherri, GM Team
