Cleanse Homework Day 2
Detox Your Home
Lifestyle
- Listen to the Letting Go visualization in the morning
- Listen to the evening visualization before bed
- Try using baking soda with a hot bath or shower
- Try some natural coconut or almond oil on your skin today
Juices, Drinks & Broth
- Stay warm with non-caffeinated teas—drink freely!
- Keep juicing, don’t stop juicing
- Always carry a bottle of water around with you
- If you get bored, natural mineral water can be a simple way to treat yourself to a new/different beverage
Breathing & Movement
- How about 8 minutes of high intensity GM Fitness?
- Try some yoga with Katrina?
- If none of that sounds fun, take a walk, breath some fresh air, and allow yourself to feel whatever you’re feeling
Planning & Prepping
- Take a look around your home, and throw out 3 of the most toxic chemical body care or cleaning products you have—just toss them out!
- Try some of the natural cleaners and skin care items you learned about in lesson 2—just for fun!
- Make a priority list of things that you can easily change in your home to make your living environment more “green” and healthy for you
- Remember, fresh veggies or even a light salad can serve as backup foods in a pinch
- Don’t starve yourself—use flax and chia drinks to balance your blood sugar
I could not drink the coconut oil in my tea I felt like I was going to vomit. Help how else can I get it? Rub on body?
@Su – don’t worry, leave it out! Alternatively you can add some to your soup broth which is nice;)
I am just thinking forward about when we break the detox and am planning my thanksgiving and Hanukkah celebration. I would like to know what is the best way to deal with this after the detox as I think fried foods will not really sit well and I am not sure that all the traditional thanksgiving food will sit well either.
@Amy – great questions, so true with holidays approaching! We’ll talk more about this in the classes at the end of the week, but essentially the goal (no surprise really) is to try to focus on whole and natural foods, things you’d find in the jungle or on a big island. Fresh vegetables, home-prepared meats, healthy sources of fats, and some fruit. That’s of course easier said than done during the holidays, but we’ll talk about some simple tips to Gabrielize most meals.
Salads ? High intensity workouts ? Not sure how this fits in with everything thats been said for the detox ?
Really enjoying this transformation process !
@Jane – if you can stay “liquid” that gives you digestive system more of a break. For some people, just a light salad (greens w/lemon) makes a world of difference in terms of how they feel so that’s just fine, it’s not a huge digestive load. High intensity work-ins? If you’re up for it, it’s great. Keep it short (10-20 min) and just don’t expect yourself to have the same energy you usually do.
In the homework for today I see these:
“How about 8 minutes of high intensity GM Fitness?”
“Remember, fresh veggies or even a light salad can serve as backup foods in a pinch.” ??? Really? Don’t these both contradict everything y’all have been telling us about this stage of the cleanse?
I would appreciate clarification before the next webinar. Thanks.
@Tandy – at Gabriel Method, we don’t really adhere to a one-sized fits all approach. Some people happily juice away for a week without a problem, others just need “something” and a simple salad can get some people through, and that’s just great. Some people have tremendous energy (seriously!) and others feel really groggy. Most people experience a bit of both…. hence the question… up for some fitness? If not, leave it out. But if you are, why not take 8 minutes to try?
I am really enjoying this journey with all of you!
I have been told for years it is important to eat dairy for the calcium. Where do we get calcium in the GM. I understand the cleanse is different but I am thinking ahead to when I get back to eating food. I have been drinking skim milk and eating fat free Greek yogurt.
@Johanne – thanks for joining us! We’ll talk more about breaking the fast later. Dairy works ok for some people, not at all ok for others. It’s not necessarily all or nothing, but for sure the fat in the dairy is the really nutritious part:)
Great seminar today. THANK YOU for structuring this cleanse with so much support, information, videos, recipes – it’s got everything!
Hi Anna,
Thanks for the great feedback. I found it really informative too.
Kind regards

End of first day, so far so good. Only minor headaches from caffeine withdrawal. Nothing I couldn’t deal with. BUT, on THursday I have to break the detox with a family luncheon where I will be unable to opt out. Would it make any sense to restart, or should I plan for another 6 days when I won’t have any interruptions and just consider this a pre-planning event!
@Ellen – don’t worry, that’s just fine. If you can restart, by all means do that! We tend to think of ourselves as “on” or “off” with cleansing, but it’s not the case. We’re just speeding up a process your body does all the time. If you slow down for a day, you can jump back in the next day.
