Whoops, I meant the Kiama Retreat, not “Moama” in my last post.
Thanks so much Brian for sharing your story. Firstly, my love and best wishes go out to little Harry, you and Sharon, and the rest of your family. I remember meeting you 3 years ago at a Moama Retreat, and what struck me then was your love for your family (and the joy of little newborn Harry), as we sat on the steps in the sunshine both sharing about our families at home, and the joy of children, and how my boys make me feel “alive”. So I can only imagine the heartfelt punch in your stomach as you got your news of Harry being sick. But there is one thing that I know for sure is that, your LOVE and your family’s LOVE, will help restore and carry Harry through to health again.
Secondly, your story and great illustration of the effects of Cortisone, were so helpful in that I had a “Ah Ha” moment. I have had huge doses throughout the last 10 years, and been in hospital several times with huge IV Doses given to me every six hours. As someone with past medical experience, I understand it was needed at the time for my survival so haven’t an issue with having it , and I know the side effects it can give, but a big part of me was in denial, as I just soldiered through it. When you added the personal story of how it affected Harry, and the illustration was so good, it dawned on me what an impact Cortisol has on our bodies. I knew in my head, but now know in my heart, the importance of reducing stress, and how long term stress creates “FAT”, but this can be combated by a healthy approach, and short little bursts of “fight and flight ” can help turn us into fat burning mode.
I have always blamed myself for being Fat, but your story and illustration helped me see, it was circumstances at the time, and not my fault. It has given me a new fresh approach and I will view myself very differently from now on.
Then the workout was great, I had so much fun, and as I mentioned it energized me and I felt “alive”. Great work! Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Anita
Hi Anita,
I remember you well and glad you are still part of the GM family.
I too understand the importance of stress conceptually but now with the evidence it has had on Harry, I have a very practical example.
Interesting too however is the remarkable reversal once the drug has been stopped. He has gone completely the other way now with us having to almost force food into him.
I appreciate your kind words. He is going ok, as we all are, hard to watch him go through the treatment but we are determined for a good outcome for our little man.
Blessings…Brian
