Hi jon,
I have been listening to most of the meditations, i wanted to ask you, is it better to listen to the same meditation and repeat it once a day for a week , is it fine to listen to 3 different ones in a row, i would like some advise. I suppose the most important one is the evening meditation that is for every night right?
In the end it is up to you. The Evening Meditation is one of the most important ones. The rest you can use when you want to. Working them into your routine is always great and you can select different ones for how you are feeling.
I am glad that u do Jon. I have started meditation about 6 yrs ago with Louise Hay and few other authors, Inna Segal lately. It greatly help me to get out of depression and I am looking forward to your meditation. Thank you. Priscilla
There are plenty of Deepak Chopra resources available without having to put up with Oprah Winfrey. Yuck! He’s great, but Silva Life System (also from Mind Valley, like Jon’s materials) is also totally awesome. That’s meditation, really focused. But, in reality, Jon’s visualizations will do the trick if you do them consistently. That’s the key. If you don’t have Jon’s visualizations, get them, but most people with access to this Support Group already have Jon’s resources.
Hmm, I am totally resistant to meditation. I dont like it. I find it hard to get into and keep listening to . Im doing the gabriel plan, but obviously its not working if Im not consistantly doing the meditations and visualizations. Why am I so resistant to this??? How can I overcome the blockage?? I am going to start over again with week 1 and see if I cant do better this time. HELP…..
Dear Donna,
A wonderful lady by the name of Janitye taught me and others how to meditate about 30 years ago. It scared me when I discovered I could meditate and envision a certain parking spot and have it there waiting when I arrived at my destination, or to navigate traffic at a certain very difficult interchange when I was driving a school bus years ago. The traffic would simply open up for me to move into it and cross to the third lane over during rush hour traffic in less than a quarter mile. I know it works but somehow it didn’t seem to mesh with my own sense of fairness. I stopped. (Sigh!) I have learned the last few years that I often put others before myself – even when it hurts me.
Could it be bothering you to take time for you – without seemingly benefitting others? Or, is it possible that like me, you have also been prone to bad dreams and are afraid to let yourself relax that much for fear the dreams might take over? (They don”t.)I was taught to just take a quiet time and lean back with hands palm side up on my knees and let my imagination wander to my own special place of safety and love. I found a teacher there and battered his ears with my questions at first. It took me quite a while to get to where I would just listen. I intend to do all of Jon’s meditations but to also do my own again. It seems like a good place to start. Best wishes. Glo
Thank you Glo for your thoughts. I too can visualize parking slots to be waiting for me so I guess Im closer than I realized to meditation! Im trying harder to let go and get into that meditative state. Still trying to learn how to navigate this site.
I am finding the forum helpful to remind me to really focus on all possible aides that are available to help me nurture myself and concentrating on getting healthy and losing weight. Before I used to simply follow a menu, look at the Do’s & Don’ts and take a brisk walk when I could squeeze it in. When I was younger and more active this seemed enough to lose weight – albeit on a temporary basis. I will definitely check out the Deepak Chopra website and others suggested. Many thanks for re-enforcing the total approach to gaining health & losing weight
Meditation is very like self hypnosis which I have been using to prevent asthma attacks for 20 yrs. I am now so good at it that I take one big breath in and exhale and I am right into meditation state. Only problem I have is coming out of meditation. I am never ready to open my eyes when Jon says, even tho’ he says” when you are ready.” I never thought of using the technique for losing weight until now. I say practice every time you sit down. Practice Makes Perfect.
Any body that is really interested in the power of meditation-please sign up, it’s free, for Deepak Chopra’s next 21-day meditation challenge. You’re gonna have to put up with Oprah Winfrey, but, still, Deepak is the best there is at teaching this ancient healig art. Another great resource is Davidji-a student of Deepak’s. Deepak has his own website, as does Davidji. If your looking to go even deeper, please look up Craig Hamilton, as well. Jon Cabat-Zin is more into the medical aspects of meditation, if you’re not so interested in the spirituality of it
I think the comments about inflamation and joint pain are very valid for me. I am going to find meditation resources to also help with those issues. Thanks!
Can meditation help me overcome my past trauma??? I can’t open up to people so I am vary about seeking professional help.
Hi Saee,
Meditation is a great way to start to overcome your past trauma. It can take time to overcome a trauma but very worth your time and energy to heal.

I would also love to get the reference for the study. Thanks
Could you possibly tell me how to stop self-sabotage? Please?
Hi Lorraine,
