Video – 3 Steps to Great Posture
Coach Brian shows three great exercises that will help improve your posture. Having good posture promotes healthy digestion and can positively affect the way you interact with others. Exercises:- Book on Head: look forward, shoulders back and down, stomach pulled in, chest out, chin up.
-
Rotator Cuff Muscle Posture: 20 reps each
- a.) rotate arms back and forward with 1.5 kg weights
- b.) rotate forearms with elbows connected to body
- Glute Exercise: lie on the ground, bend knees and lift up hips, stretching your glute muscles. *ADVANCED OPTION: place arms across chest and lift alternating legs while maintaining heightened hip position.
Hi, Brian, I’m a different Catherine than the one below. I love these simple posture exercises. I’ve been doing the floor one on my own now for about a month and am feeling more strength, being able to hold the position longer and higher. I am looking forward to adding the pieces that make it a bit harder. The main reason I’m writing is that I’ve been doing the GM method very seriously for more than a year now and had not lost weight, yet I’ve persevered. Finally I set a 40 Day Challenge for myself in order to put all the GM pieces together that I’ve been practicing and today I’ve just completed the 38th day. I can tell that, at last, I’m finally releasing excess weight. I can feel it in my clothes. I will weigh for the first time since I started on Saturday, my 40th day. On Monday I will begin a second 40 Day Challenge. The first one’s priority was GM friendly food choices and I did very well with it. The weak area for me is physical exercise, so that will be this next Challenge’s priority. I’ve done well with adding bedtime yoga and with practicing a short form of tai chi every day. My downfall has been keeping up with doing your GM fitness exercises twice a week. I dread doing them, but when I do them I really love them. I’ve done them for several months, but not consistently. Even so I notice amazing changes in my strength and in my body. Sorry this is so long. I just wanted to connect with you to let you know that beginning Monday I will be following your videos and talks as much as possible for the next 40 Days. I am extremely grateful to you. By the way, I did massage for 45 years (retired now, but am still doing a few each month). I have already learned so much from you and from Katrina Love Senn. How fortunate I am!
Hi Brian I enjoyed watching your posture information. I have trouble with my shoulders being a bit forward so I will try these extra exercises to straighten up! Just wondering if you would know, or could recommend any naturopath in the Bacchus Marsh, Victoria area? I am looking to find a good healthy one for advise! Ta…Catherine
Hi Catherine, email me at brian@thegabrielmethod.com and I’ll see who I know
Really valuable- thanks so much. I can see them working for me. My son is 20 and is round shouldered, but quite fit. Can it change long established bad posture?
many thanks
cara
sure Cara, I find they are great to do as they give you an awareness of correct posture…..actually how it feels.
thanks for your post
