  1. E Dawn Shiley says:

There is a book called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig that has a section on naturally fermented foods detailing why we need them and how to produce them. Naturally fermented sauerkraut tastes wonderful. The commercially produced sauerkraut has no probiotic benefit and doesn’t taste very good (in my opinion). Most traditional diets have naturally fermented foods as condiments in each meal. These foods aid in digestion as well as the other benefits commented on in the video.

  2. Mary says:

Thank you Darlene. I will look for it – good tip.

  3. JOSEFINA GONZALEZ says:

    Fermented food
    Cultured foods
Please give more ideas of this foods

  4. Darlene Toalson says:

I just recently cured an UTI with high doses of D-Mannose (5 grams) every 3 to 4 hours for three days. It is a natural product and has none of the side effects e.g. killing friendly bacteria. I was skeptical at first, but did some research as I was looking for a natural cure and I didn’t want to see a doctor. It worked and I highly recommend it as you have nothing to lose except your UTI of course!

  5. Mary says:

I have just started making cultured food. How much should one have in a day? I am not sure whether to take a spoonful or have a helping of the usual amount of veg. I use kefir on fruit for breakfast.
I am on a low dose antibiotic for the foreseeable future for recurrent UTIs. I don’t like taking it but the alternative is not good either!!
    Thanks

  6. jjrakena@gmail.com says:

    And the taste is too

  7. jjrakena@gmail.com says:

fermented maize is lovely with milk or cream. you need to get past the smell and for MAAORI people of NZ its one of our gem deserts. Try it! Its really good for the digestive system.

  8. Barbara Bennett says:

How many of Jon’s Daily Omega-3’s should one take for optimal nutrition.

    • Janine -Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Barbara,

We recommend you follow the instructions on the bottle unless your doctor recommends a different dosage.

  9. Raphael Wettenstein says:

Comment – Rarely I have a need to take antibiotic. I build my immune system with daily intake of Colostrum pills.
Whenever there is a systemic need for antibiotic I take a few drops of oil of oregano in a cup of warm water, without side effect.
When a throat infection is showing up I apply a few drops of propolis tincture directly onto the infected spot, the relief is instant.
Question: When you lose a substantial amount of fat, what do do with the extra left over skin?

    • Janine -Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Raphael,

In Jon´s case, he lost all of his weight gradually over two years.
That coupled with eating live, healthy, vibrant foods, helped his
skin slowing adjust to his new body. Every person´s body is
different, however, but it is not impossible to lose weight and have your skin adjust properly.

  10. Jo-Lynne Worley says:

Great post. I have been on antibiotics for 2 years full time– some of them IV. They say I might be on them the rest of my life. I was bit by brown recluse spider and the poison went to my knee replacement. After the 1st surgery they said I might lose my leg. So taking antibiotics isn’t as bad as that. I eat very well– follow Jon’s advice. I drink green juice every day; I eat lots of vegetables and fruits…and of course nuts, seeds, and some form of protein; I do probiotics, eat kimchi; I exercise or play 1.5-2 hrs/day; I have committed to a daily practice of visualization and meditation and I STILL can’t lose weight– because of the antibiotics. The infectious disease folks might just be afraid to take me off and there’s probably no current scientific research yet. My infectious disease doctor might be open if I could send him an mp3, but if I send him to the site, he wouldn’t listen.

    • Janine -Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Jo-Lynne,

Just remember that healing takes time and it looks like your body is still trying to protect itself from what happened to you. When your body feels safe it can start to let go of the weight. It sounds like you are on the right path! Keep up the good work!

      Janine
      The Gabriel Method Team

      • Jo-Lynne Worley says:

Sorry, I don’t find this helpful. How can my body heal from the toxicity while I continue to take antibiotics? How can my body heal?

        • jjrakena@gmail.com says:

Unfortunately fermented maize is only for some and this was a source of my forefathers in the past and 160 years later we still eat it. In order to heal your body continue your antibiotics.

  11. Marisol Rocha says:

Since the detox ACV became my go to “medicine” for my kids through the winter. I started giving them 4oz of water with 1/2 tsp of ACV and raw honey first thing in the morning and also right before their dinner. I am not kidding that whenever they seemed like the were coming down with something it either never transpired or it cut the length of the cold down to 2 days….for me this was a wonderful natural way to help them flush out their little systems.

Given my questions below, I am also wondering on your perspective on giving the amount I talk about to young children (10 and under). Is it something we can free flow with or should I be careful to overdo it with ACV on their little digestive tracts?

    • Jon Gabriel says:

Apple cider vinegar, if it’s raw is full of friendly bacteria. It’s truly beneficial. I don’t think you’re overdoing it at all taking 4 glasses a day. But if your body starts to rebel against taking it at any time, I would listen. Know one knows better than your body and as you get healthier and healthier, your body will become an excellent guide as to whats best to take and what amounts.

      • Marisol Rocha says:

Thanks Jon. What about for young children? Does the same apply or does their body get dependent on the vinegar to cleanse them daily and not work on its own to detox? Please see above for how much I have been giving them daily through the winter and it really has helped to keep viruses at bay!

  12. Marisol Rocha says:

Since participating in your detox last November I really adopted Apple Cider Vinegar into my daily routine, likely drinking 4 glasses of water with 1 tsp of ACV each. Is it possible that you can have TOO much ACV and your body can become intolerant to it?

My father just shared with me yesterday he was concerned that I was drinking so much water with vinegar and pointed out that no other mammal has vinegar in their natural diet. I thought this would be a great thing to get your perspective on (ie, this wasn’t found on an island thousands of years ago).

    Thanks for the perspective!

  13. Marisol Rocha says:

    Hi Jon and GM team!

Okay so I have started working with Magdalena on my Hashimoto’s and Rosacea remission mission and we have started to pinpoint some things to test taking out of my diet to see if it helps. The first suspicion after following my health history and food journal for a week is that I might have a histamine intolerance, which means cutting out anything fermented, all vinegars and other foods like tomatoes, citrus (my known rosacea trigger!) and chick peas.

As a trusted source in my life, I really wanted Jon’s thoughts on this question: I know how incredible fermented foods like sauerkraut and kimchi are for our gut and I also know how detoxifying it is to wake up and have 2-3 glasses of ACV…..so I am a bit concerned in cutting these things out and I just wanted your thoughts on what OTHER non histamine foods might have the same effects (detoxifying and replenishing healthy intestinal flora) while I am doing this 30 day test on a possible histamine intolerance. I am still of course currently taking my probiotics daily.

    • Marisol Rocha says:

when I say 2-3 glasses of ACV I of course mean 2-3 glasses of WATER with 1 tsp of ACV each 🙂

    • Jon Gabriel says:

      Hi Marisol,

If you’re working with Magdalena and she is telling you to reduce your apple cider vinegar intake, that’s different. I would be curios to now what her reasoning is. But in the mean time, while you’re working with her, I would follow her advice. Let me know how it goes.

      Jon

      • Marisol Rocha says:

Thanks Jon. I am removing it because we are suspicious of me having a histamine intolerance which means that fermented foods, vinegars as well as other foods high in histamines might be the reason why my rosacea is still acting up even though I have taken out all the big 10 food allergy culprits from my diet. So Magdalena is also a big ACV fan for daily detoxification and alkalining of water, but just for my bio individuality we are trying to figure out what I am still reacting to.

My question to you is, aside from lemon, ACV and fermented foods do you know of any other thing I can have that would have the same detoxifying and replenishing healthy intestinal flora effects? I am really missing having them and just wanted additional insight on other things I can eat while I test out this possible histamine intolerance. Thanks!

        • Marisol that’s really interesting. I have had rosacea for years and just recently it’s gone from just a smathering on my cheek bones to my entire cheek! And it’s become raised and bumpy. Not sure what’s up there…but your point about vinegar is what interests me. I know personally when I have a salad with vinegar and oil, it really triggers a major sugar craving for me. I have always suspected vinegar (I generally use a balsamic) but it could be that I’m allergic or sensitive to the histimines in there…I’ll have to do some research on that. Thanks for sharing!

  14. Catherine Bell says:

    Hi Jon,
One of my new healthy foods to make is coconut macadamia yogurt, of course with raw and organic ingredients, and I heartily recommend making this delicious fermented food also with raw organic almonds and brazil nuts, when available.

Thanks for the video and special thank you for the tapping film with Carol, which was more informative than other tapping videos on the tube. The film was excellent.

    • Janine -Gabriel Method Team says:

That sounds delicious Catherine! Keep up the great work and we are happy that you enjoyed the film.

    • Clare Andrews says:

ohh yum!! can you please give instructions on how to make it??

      • jjrakena@gmail.com says:

        Kia ora & Hi Clare
I keep it simply, when the maize is ready to pick you get 15-20 cobbs, put it into a sack, or muslim cloth with 2-3 medium size rock/stones, tie the top of sack/muslim up. You may have to make a meshing net wrap for your sack to keep the water rats at bay. Get a stirdy stick and thin wire. Attach the wire to the sack/muslim and then to the stick. You then take this to a nearby spring, stream, brook, or lagoon. Wedge the stick into the side of (spring, stream, brook, or lagoon) so that when you place the sack/muslim into the water it will sink down to the bottom, but the stick thats been wedged to the side of the waters edge will be an indicator to where you placed your maize. This stays submerged in the water for 3-6 months. You can check its progress on a monthly bases and what you are checking for if your maize has gone soft and if you can smell the decaying process. By your 5th month its ready to pull out of the water. By this time the smell will be pungent and you have time to take the husk of the maize. You will also see that the maize will be EASY to take off the cobb. Once you have taken the maize off the cobb, wash in a bowl till clean then seive. Put 1 cup water into a small pot. Once boiling put a cup of maize to the mix. Let it boil for 5 minutes then turn the heat down and leave it simmer for 25 minutes. Once its cook server with cream. By this time your neighbours and family would know what you are having for desert with the pungent smell kaanga wai (fermented maize) filling the house.

  15. Carri Nash says:

Thanks for the information. Very informative.

  16. Jen31972 says:

Can we assume filtered water has the chlorine removed? If not, where should we get out water?

    • Janine -Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Jen,

Many basic filters remove the majority of chlorine, it depends on the filter as well as your local water supply. But most people are ok with carbon filters.

  1. Deborah Hutchings says:

I found the drink – its Passiflora, $120 for 8 bottles – wow – what can we do for ourselves thats more economical?

  2. Deborah Hutchings says:

Donna mentioned a drink we can get here in Australia – can you advise what it is I couldn’t quite catch the wording (Plantarium based drink).

  3. Susan Kostuch says:

Oops I was wrong, I did have more questions! Sorry 🙂

I have very beautiful, naturally clean fresh mountain water however according to my government regulation I must chlorinate it. Would using a carbon filter such as a Brita suffice to make my water healthier for me? I would hate to sacrifice the benefits of all of the wonderful minerals that naturally occur in my water source for a reverse osmosis re-mineralized water that I have to purchase. Any other suggestions?

Also, the colon cleansing talked about in this webinar, is that the kind where you go to a practitioner and they irrigate your colon with a water solution or is it something different?

    Thanks

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Susan,

I’m pretty sure Brita filters filter out chlorine. You can find that out easily enough, but I’m pretty sure it does.

In regards to the colon cleansing you are correct that it is where a practitioner irrigates your colon with a water solution.

      -Jon

  4. Susan Kostuch says:

Hi and Thank you for this and all of the other great information in this program. I do have a couple of questions and I am sorry for the late asking but I am working my way through what I missed while on holidays. Hopefully I am not too late in the asking for a response on here!
    1. If digestion starts in the mouth with chewing, are juices and smoothies or shakes really a good option or will the digestion be hampered by the lack of stimulating enzymes?
    2. Dr. Gates talked about fixing the candidias by stopping feeding it sugar, building a hardy immune system and creating an environment where they cannot survive. I am not sure if I missed it but I did not hear specific coverage of how to build a hardy immune system. I am assuming it is through the steps discussed, by reducing sugars, consuming healthy oils and eating fermented foods but I just wondered if there were other specific things (other than not taking anti-biotics or drinking chemically treated water)?
    3. Dr. Gates talked about conquering infections (like yeast or a tooth infection) to heal your digestion. I am slightly confused by this in that it seemed to me like this should be done as a preliminary step but did not talk about safe ways to do this. Maybe I am missing something with this or maybe it is a result of the 3 steps she talked about at the end, help!?!

I think that is all for now, again a 1000 thank you’s in advance!

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Susan,

      1. Juices and smoothies pre-digest the food anyway, so they’re not going to get hampered by that.

      2. It’s really about digestion. The more you heal your digestion, the stronger your immune system is going to get, because 80% of your immune system originates from your gut. And when you heal leaky gut syndrome, you don’t overwork your immune system. So the combination of healing your immune system so that you don’t leak toxins into your blood stream and strengthening your immune system so that it can produce more — or strengthening your digestion so it can produce more enzymes that are involved in your immune system, that combination will strengthen their immune system. So everything that Donna Gates talks about, in terms of digestion, directly helps your immune system.

      3. All the suggestions that Donna Gates makes are geared toward overcoming yeast infections and killing parasites, et cetera.

      -Jon

  5. Sharon H says:

Can I use the digestive enzymes with HCL after eating if I have indigestion.. It doesn’t happen always but sometimes… In the old days would pop a Prilosec, drink Malox, or get a
tums (lest effective of the bunch). Now, I don’t need it often but maybe a couple times a week…. So again, can you take them at other points in the day if you are having trouble. If not the HCL ones… how about the GM ones… indigestion is so uncomfortable.. Thanks Sharon

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Sharon,

Yes, it should help that. You can try the Gabriel Method digestive enzymes. I wouldn’t take the ones with HCL when you don’t have enough food in your stomach.

      -Jon

  6. PAULETTE WINTER says:

Are digestive enzymes in tablet form any less effective than those in capsules?

  7. Carla A says:

I found extremely interesting all the information shared by Donna Gates, and she mentioned to drink high quality/mineral spring water. What should I look for when choosing bottled spring water?

Every time my husband starts probiotics , and he has tried several brands, he experience dizziness ? So I wonder if gets better when he gets a healthier digestion?
Or any other suggestions on how he should take them?

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Carla,

If you have any questions check with your doctor or health care practitioner, but typically things like tiredness, bloating, pains, dizziness are usually the result of the friendly bacteria sort of going at war with the unfriendly bacteria, and as your digestion gets better those symptoms go away.

      -Jon

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

In regards to water, probably the best most cost-effective way is just to get any affordable spring water that’s preferably not in plastic, and then mineralize it with healthy salts. So take a teaspoon of healthy salt, like Himalayan salt or Celtic salt or sea salt and put it in two liters of water, and that’s the best way to re-mineralize your spring water.

      -Jon

  8. Bogumila Kocik says:

    Hi
I am 58 years old. I would like to loose about 15 kg. Can you give me some suggestion how to maintain skin elasticity, please. I am afraid that I will look old.
    Bogumila

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Bogumila,

The healthier your body is and the less stress you have, the more your body will produce the hormone elastin, which will help ensure your skin retains as much elasticity as possible. So by focusing on reducing stress, detoxifying your body, healing your digestion, pretty much everything we talk about, it will help your skin take elastic.

      -Jon

  9. Bente Linnea Skovborg says:

It is fine with supplements f. ex. how do we ensure that the body comtinue to produce Hcl and depend on the tabl.?

    Bente

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Bente,

According to Donna Gates, that doesn’t happen. Your body doesn’t become dependent on the enzymes or the HCL, but it is still essential.

      -Jon

  10. Molo says:

What are panciodic enzymes? Preferred brands? Where does one find them? Also, where does on get planterium? To add to home made fermented foods? What minerals do you recommend to add to R.O. Water?

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Molo,

We have a brand in our shop. The problem is, our brand doesn’t have HCL which Donna Gates is now recommending, which causes a little bit of a conflict. So we recommend you find some HCL to help with the digestion process as well.

I will recommend you add Himalayan salt crystals or Celtic salt or sea salt to your water.

      -Jon

  11. Judes says:

I’ve been thinking about the class. Lots of interesting information but I was confused by Donna’s suggestion of a macrobiotic diet. My memory is that a macrobiotic diet is very grain heavy and protein light, which seems quite different than Jon’s suggestions. Also wondering about fruit. I love bananas. Are they are problem?

    • Gabriel Method Team says:

      Hi Judes,

Donna didn’t recommend a macrobiotic diet. I think she talked about how she originally started with a macrobiotic diet but she doesn’t recommend the macrobiotic diet now.

      Bananas in moderation are fine.

      -Jon

  12. Hi,
I am wondering if the downloadable class notes are the same as the recording? I find I can read much faster than I can listen to these kinds of calls.
It is very valuable to me to have access to transcripts of recordings like this.
Would you consider doing this in the future?
    Thanks,
    ~Susan Holsinger

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Susan,
The downloadable notes are from the powerpoint that Jon goes through during the class. Unfortunately we don’t have transcripts at this stage.
      Best regards
      Den – GM Team

  13. Bente Linnea Skovborg says:

Thank you I am deeply greatfull for this knowledge.
I never thought that something like this would come from over weight!

  14. Mary says:

    Thank you Judes!

  15. Marisol Rocha says:

Looking forward to listening to this recording 🙂 Have been reading all the wonderful questions and answers from our Tuesday Core Class.

Just a friendly reminder that there are still a good number of questions under the Dr. Rosedale interview section to be answered.

As we listen to things throughout the week on our own time, does the GM team prefer we post our questions under the section to which they “thematically” belong or go to the current class section to keep the new questions in the latest feed for your review?

    thanks!

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Marisol,
Apologies for the questions that haven’t been answered as yet. You can ask your question wherever you are as we will get a notification either way.
      Best regards
      Den – GM Team

      • Marisol Rocha says:

Thanks so much Den and please no apologies necessary! The GM team is doing such an amazing job, I was just sending a heads up in case it was a page that was moved on from as we advanced in the course. 🙂

  16. Jennifer Vice says:

I currently sweeten my morning coffee with half xylitol (1 teaspoon) and half sugar. I only drink two cups of coffee per day. Should I go ahead and get off of sugar entirely?

  17. Judes says:

I know this interview isn’t live but someone is typing on a keyboard during the talk and it’s very annoying so for the future can you ask people not to type during the interview. Thanks.

  18. Mary says:

I missed out on the repeat – couldn’t get it to work.

    • gabrielmethod says:

      Hi Mary,
The interview should start as soon as you open the page. Just check that your sound is on. If it is and the audio doesn’t start as soon as you open this page please contact our team at help@thegabrielmethod.com and they will sort this out for you.
      Kind regards

  19. Leah Fischer says:

I guess this video was released early..this isn’t live is it?

  20. reveal says:

Hi, I took my probiotics for the first time yesterday and I was relieved to do an internet search to discover that headaches are common side effects and it wasn’t my imagination!
The advice as to what to do was conflicting so I ask for your recommendation Jon. Take them as suggested 2 per day and take paracetemol? Drop to one a day? Open the capsules up and use less?
I really was excited to use these as I’ve had fibromylagia and both food and chemical sensitivities so had planned to soon jump to one 6x daily…or was it the digestive enzymes you said to try that frequently???
Thanks in anticipation of a clear response. I am so grateful to have joined this program at this time.

    • Jon Gabriel says:

Try taking one a day or even half a day and then working your way up, once the headaches are gone. If you have to take pain killers than don’t take the probiotics for a while. But keep revisiting them to see if you can have them without the side effects. In the mean time, have more fermented foods and see how you go with that.

  21. Erica Liebenberg says:

Great information and interview! Very inspiring, thanks!

  22. Lex says:

    Hi,
I take 20mg of somac every day for a hiatus hernia, prescribed by my dr. The prescription was originally for 40mg, but I’ve managed to halve it. If I don’t take it, I get the worst heartburn and indigestion. It is very painful.
Is the somac affecting my ability to lose weight?
Is there anything else I can do? I have tried adding acid to my diet but it didn’t work for me.

  23. Erica Liebenberg says:

under resources there is a daily update heading but it is blocked, cannot access it, please will you have a look
