Thank you, now I can start practicing. I have started to meditate and I have been doing so in the morning on my 30minute drive to work. I have noticed that I feel better, until about noon, then I run out of balance. Carla Buckholtwells.

      Hi Carla,
It would be best to meditate when you are not doing anything, so that you can sit quietly. You can meditate as often as you want – though the best times are immediately upon waking (as you are not fully awake your subconscious is more receptive) and just before going to sleep (its an excellent way to relax – this is where Jon’s evening visualisation is so effective). You can also meditate for as little as 5 minutes and for as long as 2 hours (Jon often does this). If time is an issue try fitting in a 5 or 10 minute one here and there. You can even download short meditations from the internet – here is a link to one http://www.calm.com/
      I hope this helps.

Hi Carla, here is a direct reply from Corinne:
      Hi Carla,

Beautiful question. First, truly take a second to admire the fact that you’re such a sensitive soul, and you have the ability to feel others’ emotions – you’re an empath, as you know;) I know this may seem daunting – or at least this was for me when I realized I was too – but realize you have the ability to then be able to connect, understand and show compassion for those who are in your circle, and connection and a sense of belonging is so important for us to feel whole – and when we feel whole – we make better decisions for ourselves all around, including about food.

But, when you have no boundaries that’s where the issues come in, but all you have to do is create some. There are a few things you can try, if they speak to you. First, get in the real practice of mediating (even if for just 2 minutes a day), sit, close your eyes, quiet your mind and just focus on your breath. There are guided meditations you can try to or even ones on your phone (I love the app/website, Calm.com). Once in that meditative space, imagine a deep cord coming out from you and digging into the earth, spreading below your feet wide, into the Earth. This exercise is called grounding. It allows you to feel connected to the Earth and centered. Meditation will allow you to feel more connected to everything as well, but also to yourself, which is super important to feel grounded and not run over by others’ energy. Walking or hiking in nature is another way to feel grounded and centered.

Now, when you’re actually going into a situation where you know there’s going to be a lot of people, it’s important to envision (before you’re even there) an energetic field around you, protecting you almost. Choose whatever color tickles your fancy. I do this after any big speaking engagement when my energy is drained. And when you’re around everyone, imagine your shield, call in your energy and practice staying grounded and connected to the Earth in your own space. Mind you – this is a practice – but you can do it.

Also, for you, it’ll be very important to speak your truth, set up firm boundaries in your life (don’t say YES, when you really mean NO), and choose mostly people in your life that lift you up, that bring you higher. As you come more and more from this space and get connected to yourself and instead of viewing these situations with difficult people as energy-sucks, but rather as a time to practice your tools – you WILL change. Every time there is someone who pushes my buttons that I need to interact with, I look at them as my teacher. My time to bring my highest self and shine and keep my energy (not take anything personally and realize everyone is just doing the best they can – I repeat this to myself over and over) and see how much further I can grow in the time.

      You can do this too.

I hope some of this helped.

      Sending so much love XXO,
      Corinne
