Hi Heather. I love listening to such a positive person. This is of the topic but I have heard from several sources that day whey is toxic to you. What is your opinion on this.

    • Heather Flemming says:

      Hello Julie,
Thank you for the kind words. I haven’t heard the word “toxic” used to describe whey. However, we have been suggested more plant based proteins powder sources such as pea, hemp, organic brown rice. Brands such as Sunwarrior and Garden of Life. In my experience I don’t see many people, especially women digest whey well, it sits in their stomach leaving them feeling bloated. Also, I don’t like to judge foods, in this type of science, one minute we think the food is the best thing the next it is “not good”. Being the judge of your own body is the best bet.

Hi Heather – I am still inquiring about an elimination diet for my daughter. She has eczema that has not responded to traditional medicine – allergists and dermatologists. She found Tom Malterre’s book, The Elimination Diet, which she plans to start on Saturday. The question is that she probably also has a latex allergy, so she can’t decided if she should l try to eliminate those foods before she does Tom’s diet. Wow! There are a lot of foods related to latex allergies. It takes out many of the things she was eating while on the Gabriel Method, which she plans to modify to take out the latex allergens. How would you go about figuring this out if it were you? She really needs help. thanks so much!

    • Heather Flemming says:

I apologize Rita, the emails weren’t coming my way.
The best way to approach elimination diets are starting with what foods you know you feel ok on (and that are not on either list) then adding in one new food every 48 hours to see if you have a response to it. A response includes:
      1. Stuffy nose
      2. Headaches
      3. Bloating
      4. Low energy
      5. Gas
Besides just the one new food, be aware of how you combine the foods. For example, the Big 3, try separating fruit from protein to enhance digestion. Have fruit as a snack vs with a meal. Wait an hour or so.
The entire journey of eating is an experiment. Keep a really good journal of how you feel and how your body responds to the foods, especially 5, 30 minutes and 2 hours after meal times. When there is extreme inflammation then MANY foods will cause distress. The goal is to calm down the inflammation FIRST.
Hope this helps you feel more supported!
      Heather

    Hi Heather!
Can you suggest an elimination diet? My daughter is 30 and has eczema that has not responded to the steroid cream her dermatologist has recommended. She is also about 30 lbs overweight and I wonder if the chronic inflammation is turning on her fat programs. She is considering one by Dr. Doris Rapp that she found on Dr. Mercola’s website because it is quick, but she really wants one that is effective. Thanks, Rita G.

Heather, greetings! This presentation covers 2 of the topics I need most at the moment: a) what to do to handle sugar cravings and b) listening to one’s own body and needs. You give the most valuable information and impart the best wisdom ever on each topic. I’m printing out the Powerpoint notes so that I can keep them nearby and read them over and over again as reminders. Thank you so much.

      Hi there Paul,

What a great question! Because we use Google Hangouts to produce this video – we use the link from the live event to put it onto this page and I have not noticed there being a way to have the audio downloadable but I will find out a way/ make sure it is possible or not and let you know 🙂

Thanks for you question! Have a great day 🙂
